What 4 days ago, I just listened yesterday some van halen after a while, in this difficult quarantine period, woke up today with in mind that I have to learn best of both world because sounds great (low skilled guitar player here) this lesson it's a sign thank you🤘 stay safe guys!

I'm SO glad you included the major 3rd note in the D chord (2nd fret of low E string for you non-theory people). Most everyone misses that note and it drives me NUTS! It is absolutely crucial for the song to sound correct. The same goes for songs like Highway to Hell and Wish You Were Here. Both of those tunes also use that voicing of the open D chord and just about everyone I've ever seen play those songs gets it wrong. Good job and thanks for the vid!

The bass player in my high school garage band was so talented he taught me how to play this after hearing it play on the radio once when the album released. Thinking back he should have been on guitar and my deaf ass on bass. He showed me to use my thumb on the low E string during the D and G chords. Works much more natural that way.

GOOD OLE IBANEZ RG! I HAVE ONE TOO! It’s all black. Gloss black. Haha. It’s metal 🤘🏼play a lot of Metallica on it, slayer, all the metal stuff. I’m a Jackson guitar guy (my youtube name) lol. I bought an Ibanez RG used in real good condition because I really got into it when I played it. Love it’s look and it’s sound. 🤘🏼
Whoa - monster tone on that Ibanez, not sure whats different about it than the other guitar you usually use on VH lessons but that thing has some balls!
I can get really close to the tone by pulling the coil tap on my bridge humbucker. Fractal 5153 blue channel with the slight -7 pitch detune. A slight roll off on the volume knob cleans it up great for the verse sections.
