He also recognized Kamala Harris's potential early... and tried to stop her from winning an early election (I think it was AG of California) to prevent her from threatening his "GOP runs the world" agenda.
Problem is Americans mistrust in politicians. Democrats need to put together a list of ideas to gain the trust back by the people. 1st thing on the list is corporate lobbying. Needs to be laws regulate lobbying. If they do as usual good chance the next person like Trump comes along is much worse and smarter then Trump.
Watching from Europe as an unbiased bystander, this video came as a relief. It tells me the problem is not the USA itself, but the (social) media that represent and broadcast it.
Mr Rove, as I recall early in W Bush admin you all had decided to just not listen to the other side any longer, to shut the Democrats out. For me it was the kick off that eventually brought us to this
As somebody commented previously, Rove is all sweetness and light here but he's still supporting Trump for president and that belies any pretense of a reasonable perspective
give it a rest! women ALL OVER WILL BE CRAWLING OVER GLASS TO VOTE FOR HER! Its the choice between eating a roast beef sandwich or eating glass! She IS IS IS articulating her vision and its enough
I’m offering three tenets because I believe there is a role for you in starting a new political party. The focus of these tenets is on ameliorating gridlock at a legislative level and eliminating rabid mis/disinformation (from politicians and “news” resources). 1. No lying in speeches and ads (campaign, news interviews, and on the floor of the senate/house), and if done so, there will be stiff immediate consequences leveled. The speech and debate clause should allow no one to just say anything and it is up to the electorate to figure out if it is true or not. No more alternative facts and fake news. 2. A goal to compromise on legislation to keep the country current on its needs vs gridlock. No withholding of legislation because of politics. The legislation should state specific responsibilities or state that departments will have those responsibilities, instead of relying on the courts who lack the knowledge base to support decisions. 3. The constitution is a living document and necessary of updates from time to time, including: supreme court ethics and term limits, electoral college eliminated, voting rights upheld, and reapportionment without gerrymandering. Thank you for your consideration of these tenets.
That was Liz Cheney’s approach: the country can survive bad policy (ie those of a President from the other party), but it can’t survive Trump's attacks on democracy itself.
Listening to Rove, it’s all winning and losing. There’s no sense of let’s do what’s best for the country. This is the problem with American politics. It’s not about governing. It’s about beating the other side. That’s stupid.
Do we ever need more YTs like this one! Thank you, Atlantic. I once heard a retired Republican governor praise the activist wife of his Democratic predecessor with all sincerity. There were no reporters in the room. I thought, is this the way he is really thinking? Then there is Tip O’Neil and Ronald Reagan. And, in the midst of a riot, Rodney King says, “Can’t we all just get along?”
Eh what that Republican is saying does not justify a leader inviting violence. The examples you are citing were not instigated by the leaders at the time
@@letsRegulateSociopaths Thanks, I haven't read it yet. My limited understanding is that 2010 FEC v Citizens' United was just the nail in the coffin. Writing on the wall should've been back in 1987 when the Fairness Doctrine was eliminated, thus enabling all 'news' stations to become partisan. Capitalizing on the urban/rural divide of our citizens and slowly but surely herding them to respective political parties and convincing them that those from the other party are either stupid or evil. Simple divide and conquer.
The Citizens United decision was one of the worst moves by the Supreme Court (besides Roe v Wade, Presidential Immunity, and the Chevron decision) in recent years. It essentially allowed corruption to flow into politics.
Where is the problem? Even "Captain Kangaroo" would be a good alternative to Donald Trump. No question about that. Americans should stop wasting time and take care of business that has to be taken care of. Donald Trump should be punished for ALL of his felonies and Americans can get on with their lives. in four more years the Republicans will have the chance to propose a qualified candidate for president. They have four years time to figure that one out.
Kkkarl, thank you After the Cindy mc cain slander, their 'black' child, adopted by Cindy and John from india, I WORKED FOR MC CAUN IN 2000, THANKS TO YOU, I LEFT THE GOP AND NEVER EVER LOOKED BACK 👍🤭🤪🍀 Marinemomof3 ❤️🇺🇲
We're all still laughing at all the dead American soldiers and Iraqi civilians killed by Bush, Cheney, and yes Rove. And Medicare Part D..... we all laugh every time we have to pay for our "drug benefit program," a gift from Bush.
Axelrod conveniently skipped all the rhetoric from the Dems. Karl rove you are conveniently ignoring all the innocent victims from Jan 6 who were locked up and lost everything unjustifiably.
(1:00) Note the ahoe Axelhead doesn't mention two assassination attempts on one of the candidates as a possible neglected surprise factor influencing voters. That's how sick these bastards are.
Karl Rove is a massive piece of the machine that got us here. Him, Gingrich, O’Reilly, Rush. All criminals.
He also recognized Kamala Harris's potential early... and tried to stop her from winning an early election (I think it was AG of California) to prevent her from threatening his "GOP runs the world" agenda.
They just don’t like our Democratic Republic. Oligarchy would be much more advantageous to them.
...and Lee Atwater, the original Republican dirty trickster and mentor to Rove and inspiration to Roger Stone, who makes Rove look like a choirboy
All are:
Fat
Straight
White
Old
Can we turn the page, please?
Thank you. Good to see not everyone has so quickly forgotten. Unlike the editors of The Atlantic.
The fact that you can attempt a coup and be running for president four years later does not bode well for the country.
Thank the right wing SCOTUS for rejecting the use of the 14th Amendment Section 3 by several States. 😑

I don’t think they are voting for trump honestly
I wonder if there’s any credible source saying that Rove will vote for Trump.
I never knew that Karl Rove could be likable for 20 minutes.
Oh, I've watched clips of him from Fox where he is critical of Trump and describes him losing where he's being upfront.
His side's a joke, why wouldn't he take the page from late night TV.
!And now...

Just thinking that, lol
He’s not
you are delusional about Trump. we in NY do not see him as a folk hero
Except for the folks in rural New York where I live, he's a big deal, unfortunately.
I always saw Trump as an idiot. I liked him making fun of everyone during the gop primaries in 2015, but I never wanted him to win
Bush Jr. and his daddy have a lot to do with why the US is so badly divided. That's at least partly on you Karl Rove.
After years of him supporting the empty trumpet, its hard to stomach Karl Rove . He wrote dozens of editorials on WSJ crowing his love for him.

We can survive a Harris presidency, but we can't survive a Trump one.
That was Liz Cheney’s approach: the country can survive bad policy (ie those of a President from the other party), but it can’t survive Trump's attacks on democracy itself.
That was insightful and refreshing. Karl Rove was hilarious. Axelrod was on point.

Axelrod & Rove should go on the road or get their own show. Maybe conservatives will get their party back someday.
whose pushing gun violence Karl?
🤮 to Karl Rove
There is a real comedian hidden within Karl Rove. I saw him years ago during the Bush years rapping on a stage and he was really good at it.
Karl's impersonation is great!
How did I miss this😂😂😂😂😂pls I need more of this two
When was this recorded, the date of taping.
Atlantic Festival was Sept 18-19 2024. I'm sure program is online if you need the exact date and time.
Karl Rove can have a great career in show business :)
Eh what that Republican is saying does not justify a leader inviting violence. The examples you are citing were not instigated by the leaders at the time
MONEY OUT OF POLITICS AND PUNDITRY SO WE CAN HAVE POLITICIANS AND PUNDITS WHO ACTUALLY CARE FOR AND HELP THE 99% PLEASE!! 😤😤
IT'S TOO LATE, THE 2010 SUPREME COURT DECISION ON FEC V CITIZENS' UNITED SEALED OUR FATE. BTW, WHY ARE WE SHOUTING?
U need to watch "the master plan" by The Lever. It explains how we got here. How the corporations took over our politics.

Rove just can’t say it.
Steve Scalise wasn’t very outraged.
This is the kind of politics Americans want these two men not crazy Trump and MAGA.

Rove says " the good common sense of the American people won't stand for it " Really ??
Open your mouth David. Yup, for everything Karl regurgitated is not appropriate.

Karl Rove got jokes 😂!
His Donald Trump imitation had me ROLLING!! 😂😂
We're all still laughing at all the dead American soldiers and Iraqi civilians killed by Bush, Cheney, and yes Rove. And Medicare Part D..... we all laugh every time we have to pay for our "drug benefit program," a gift from Bush.
Do endorsements matter? Ask swifties
What's your plan for the economy? "I bought nice expensive furniture"😅
I am a Trump voter we are looking at president Harris we can thank Trumps crazy talk
Axelrod conveniently skipped all the rhetoric from the Dems.
Karl rove you are conveniently ignoring all the innocent victims from Jan 6 who were locked up and lost everything unjustifiably.
Karl Rove and David Axelrod 😳👀
CUT OUT THE YEAHS AND YAHS
Karl Rove? 👎
What irony being witness again as one of the modern architects of lying and political theft....sits and pontificates....amnesia again
In my opinion, a biased interviewer. DJT is odious, but she tilts to Axelrod.
The woman commentator host is such an airhead
Evil Karl is a comedian. haha
i just got more stupid watching this
