- Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon comfortably finished first and second on this year’s Top 50 NHL players list. But the battle for third place was close. Was Auston Matthews the right choice? Does Quinn Hughes have a path to passing Cale Makar as the best defenceman in the NHL? Gino Reda is joined by Craig Button and Martin Biron to discuss.
Draisaitl should be number 3
How about barkov best two way
Second , Crosby is still the best two way
One player here doesn't show up in the playoffs
Mackinnon has speed and lots of potential but I don't think he's #2
That is one ugly Stanley Cup replica Button has. Couldn't he find one that actually had the right proportions?
Mathews is not a post season player, Draisaitl easily
You're both wrong. Kucherov isnt at all a top 3 player. Might have got more points than most, but he does not have nearly the defensive/2-way capability as the others. And no, Makar cannot be caught within the current dmen in the NHL.
No other player aside from McDavid has the offensive capabilities of him doesn’t really matter how good or bad you are defensive when your entire shift is spent in the O zone
Marty is absolutely correct. There's no shame in being the 5th best player in the league
Kucherov is maybe 6th.
calling the top point scorer in the nhl this year 6th best is crazy work😂 who has more cups? mcdavid, matthews or kucherov?
the north american bias is crazyyyy😂😂
@@janzkee first you realize that both Canada and the US are in North America you dumb fuck. Second, what's crazy is showing up to the all star game drunk and proceeding to ruin fans' experience.
Top 5 nhl players, not goal scorers, so is Matthew's even in the top 5 ?
McDavid, Kucherov, Matthews, MacKinnon, Draisaitl.
King Leon is 2B.
Kuch, Drai, Matthews
There may be only one GM that would take Quinn Hughes over Cale Makar. And even that's a 'maybe'
kucherov #3 imo
That middle guy talks strange
Quebecois. They don't know English.
I’m definitely not a Leafs fan but it’s gotta be Matthews. The league’s best goal scorer AND a Selke finalist. Special player.
1. McDavid
2. Mackinnon
3. Kucherov
4. Draisital
5. Matthews
IMO
Cant change your opinion and you're totally allowed to believe that. But I really believe that the media surrounding Matthews causes more unconscious dislike for him by fans. I feel like if he were on a different team people would easily put him at number 3 but there is a negative connotation around Toronto.
@@freewayfive7142 Kucherov (142 points + 3 Stanley cups) below Matthews who has not really taken the next step in the playoffs is a hot take IMO. Draisital vs Matthews is a good debate though.
@@ryanonline4817 I can understand Kucherov. and my opinion also might be influenced because sadly Kuch does not really have a personality or character that fans can attach to. He also feels really "underground" in the NHL despite his accomplishments. Valid pick.
Completely agreed with your list, Kuch is always underrated and he had the most points this season!
Barkov should be higher
Mattews is a joke
Mathews
