Paying Shesterkin $12 million would hurt the Rangers in the short-term. Paying a goalie 12+% of the cap is a damn-near guarantee you won't win the Cup until the cap goes up (by a lot). Same with skaters, but the number is 14+% for them (and I've supported this with data in a /NHL reddit post- "Team Sport: Highest Paid Players Must Wait to Win"). Bob's contract went down to 11.9% of the cap last year, and they finally were able to build enough depth to win. (McDavid almost broke the statistical trend, but came up just short.)

Lots of places keep talking about how the Atlantic is the strongest division in the league, to me that division is the most mid. Yes, Florida just won the cup, but they've lost a few big pieces of their roster and likely step back. The Lightning have been fading. Toronto feasts on the weak, but can't compete when it's tough. Boston isn't very good, but feast on their weak division, but are definitely stepping back this season. Ottawa, Buffalo, and Detroit are mushy and wouldn't compete for a playoff spot in any other division. Montreal is years away.
they are likely talking about the road to the cup. to win you have to beat the atlantic division or specifically the team that comes out of the atlantic division. that is just the way its seems to have gone in recent years
I believe Marner talks will come as the season progresses and how well he can adapt to new coach and new system of play. It is concerning that he has had trouble adapting to playoff style hockey, being the main target of shutdown to playoff opponents, where Matthews and Nylander seem to have been able to adapt. Once Marner gets shutdown the scoring dries up in the playoffs.
He's talked about the company he gets them from in the early days of the pod, I unfortunately don't remember the name of the company but if you go look at some season 1 episodes he brings it up a few times
How can Swayman ask for $9.5 when you have Hellybuyck making like $8.5 and Saros is under $8. $9.5M is insane for a goalie who hasn't ever been a 50 game started. If his body can't handle being a 60+ game guy you just sank the team.
@@sebastiencarrieres8825 he can ask that but he's proven very little and guys who have won cups with short track records signed for around 5 Hill Keumper even Binner was what 6. CJ. I'm a little disappointed as to how you glossed over Mariner's playoffs. It's not "hasn't scored a big goal" it's...has disappeared for ENTIRE SWATHS of important playoff games. swayman has never been a starter and he wants what mcavoy's getting. what a selfish, egotistical prick. earn your contract before demanding it. if swayman wants that kind of money, sign a reasonable contract now for 1 or 2 years, prove he's elite, then he can ask for that kind of contract and actually deserve it.
What a stupid comment lol. The bruins started swayman through the playoffs and then traded ullmark away because they 100% believe swayman is their number 1 goalie. They believe like basically every analyst that he's a top 10 or higher goalie. But no some rando on the Internet says he's an egotistical prick for agreeing with the team lolol

Not gonna hurt rangers if they can get rid of Trouba even if they had to eat $2m /-

trade him for marner and woll. b's add something to the deal but not sure what.

I can't imagine why a team would go with a 12M+ goalie instead of a 1A/B tandem for like $3M/ea
