I kind of sympathize with Alan's family. From what little I've read about him, it doesn't sound like he was a bad kid, or that he was involved with crime. I would therefore assume that all he saw was a car stop and people start shooting at this guy. It probably didn't even occur to him that it was a targeted hit, he just saw a victim being shot at. I mean, if someone walked into a mall and started shooting people 2 feet from me, I'd probably try and tackle the guy too.
Mind you, that's all speculation on my part. I have a feeling that, in this case, as with most things in life, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
I like Sammy, but I think in this case he could at least try and be a little sympathetic to the family, rather than indifferent or blame Alan for his own death. Just my opinion.

It’s just a story about life. Sammy is a great story teller, and he lived a life of high profile crime. The sad part about it is there are tons of kids that are damaged for life or killed by street violence with no hope of it ever going away. It’s interesting because you are hearing stories that are most likely a safe way for people to hear things like this and safer for people to try and imagine things like this without being involved. That is why police shows or movies with violence will always be attractive to people. It’s a safe way of feeling apart of it without having to be involved in it. I listen and watch things like this to remember that I got myself out of a life of violence and tragedy and things like this make me remember the people on both sides of it are affected and ask for my higher power to know I try and live everyday as a blessing and ask for forgiveness from the people and families I personally affected. Nothing wrong with your comment it is totally normal, and no one should judge your reasons for wanting to hear stories like this.

The podcasts are entertaining to listen to, but you[re right, you can't allow yourself to become a "Mob SImp" in the process. As engaging as Sammy is, I would love to see an overlay, of some kind of a philosophical perspective or morality lesson that is useful to the young people listening to these broadcasts. Has looking back on this life matured him in anyway? Has he gleaned any important insights from his time in the life that he could share? Has he grown from this at all or has he simply found a way to remonetize his violent past in a legal way? If so, not sure I want to be party to that. The difference between Gravano and Franchese, is the latter uses his experiences in the life to promote a spiritual transformation in the man. It will be interesting to see if Sammy's podcasts, as interesting as they are-he's a great story teller- eventually evolve along similar lines.

Two killers seeing a guy (in reality a 16 year old) that clearly sees their face while on a hit and they gun him down or a 16 year old kid that wasn't known to be a troublemaker but quiet and polite charge two shooters for no apparent reason? You be the judge.

@George Lynch Dixon The only BS is that version of events. Go read his book and he doesn't even say that. Also he was running towards the guys back, they weren't facing each other or in the middle of the street. That's why the shooter had to turn and shoot him. Didn't you even listen? He didn't know he was running towards a man holding a shotgun or he'd have ran in the opposite direction. It's a ridiculous comparison.
