You are a star! Thanks, being in corporate most of my life I never had the time to cook our cultural food from childhood...I just went with the flow, now that I have more time on my hands, grown up children etc. I can explore childhood favourites, and these were one of them. I just made a batch now and used vanilla as you did and they were delish! Thank you FS you just don't know how you have redeemed our cultural foods...now off to teach the next generation:))
My childhood memories are flooding in lol. In my Gran Gran’s kitchen. My mother and her gave me my passion for cooking from a very young age. I remember making mango pickle with my granny aged about 6. And guava jam 🤗🤗🤗 xx
Indeed --- going to down memory lane - those were the simple times and done on the coal stove - big kitchen and all the family together. I love all the traditional cooking you show us again.
Came here as me n my mom was twkn abt this how my granny use to mk it I still can smell n taste it haven't had it for years n I'm now 33yrs old loveeeeee this gng to try it thank u jazakallah ❤❤
Every year I get a wonderful supply of pumpkins out of my garden. They grow out of the compost heap and it provides huge solid fleshy pumpkins. This year I harvested 24. I give to neighbours and friends and of course I keep my own supply for "pampoenkos", with roast, and the favourite in the house "Fritters" I presently have half a pumpkin in the fridge and yes! Gonna make fritters your style now now! Those bowls you spoke about, I guessing, but were they purchased at that famous institution Banks Hiring Supply? 🤔🤭
It's 01:07am ..lol I woke up with this in mind cos I have pumpkin that I don't want to waste..This reminds me of my late mom..Always made it on rainy days after school..
I Love all your recipes Aunty Fatima Sydow my husband always enjoy it . Thanks for sharing . I'm always making your dishes . All the time!! We Love you
I wish you were my neighbour. My partner asked about pumpkin fritters last week so I am definitely doing this for our mothers day feast with mother in law, on sunday. You are a gem!!!
I want to tell you how much I appreciate you, your cooking and your recipes. You have supplied all that I needed to know. Thank you. There is nostalgia and a longing for homeland food as I am an expat living in New Zealand. Some ingredients are still hard to find. If you are familiar with samp and beans soup/stew please share your cooking version. Back in the day we called it "ma and pa".
Pampoenkoekiessss!!! Thanks for this. Been looking for this recipe. Got myself a pampoen at Food Lover's for just R13 with the plan of making these, just in time for Christmas!
I've made these since I forever! Grade One, or " Sub A" like we called it then. The best pampoen koekies ever! ❤️ Your shows make miss my mom and Cape Town so much!
I makes mines a little similar, I add nutmeg, cinnamon, almond extract, vanilla extract, white or brown sugar and I use carnation milk, no water. I use the same recipe for banana fritters . Pumpkin fritters was my dad favorite dish to make and take to work . Anyway nice recipe ❤️🇰🇳

Thank you so much for this recipe. This looks like the best one and will be making them this afternoon. But my family will only be eating them tomorrow. They should still be good and tasty? Out the pan and hot is the best but I cannot make them tomorrow.. 😋
Thank you. Like you grew up with I will not be adding the baking powder either, but what about milk is that traditional? and can I use buckwheat flour instead of wheat flour?
Tried this recipe but instead of pumpkin. i used butternut. Never using another recipe again, this is simple and perfect. For those wondering how it tastes with butternut. Almost like pumpkin fritters but a milder taste, I can refer you too my bf who ate them as they came out of the pan.😂❤
May the Almighty grant Aunty Fatima the highest abode in jannah, aameen.

Love your tutorials... I learn so much from them
Shukran F🌼
I sometimes add too much flour when I’m eye-balling 👀 then it’s no good, this is a good ratio of pumpkin-flour.
"Ooh lekka" I just love how this reminds me Aunty Sybil from the Cape
Thanks looking delicious

People would normally make these when a baby's first eeth starts coming out. I remember this very well
Slm Fatima is that cake flour or selfraising
I've been waiting for these 😍🙏
Can I use butternut instead of pumpkin
Hi…is it possible to use cake selfraising flour?
Can I use butternut instead of pumpkin
Awesome! When you able to; please will you make bollas😉
I usually use Butternut
❤
Do you use boerpampoen or butternut.
Kan mens dit maak met butternut??? Soooo lekker
Awe, Dankie tannie my Sondag meal proe somme lekke
Can I fry in olive oil? silly question lol maar ek moet vra lol
I'd use avocado oil rather than olive oil, as olive oil has a low smoke point (starts to burn quicker than other oils).
What a lucky neighbor
Can this be done with butternut? Looks yummy!
Yes, absolutely
