Thanks for making this video! We had a windstorm in August with 120 mph winds and were without power for 3 days. We had ordered a Generac in April and finally got it in October. Love your place and what cool idea - the one hole golf course ! Winderdome Resort!
Wow. You were spot on the estimate of how much to install a 18 kw. Just today paid $10,300 with the cold weather kit. I ordered on September of last year. Installation was today. Great video!
I bought a 10k generac 3 years ago ($900) after a tornado, had my power panel interlock installed last year with an outside plug ($800). It’s a gas generator but it will run everything in our house. We did it for 18 hours last summer on one tank of gas, running every circuit in a 2600 sq ft ranch home, AC and all. That’s my insurance policy when power goes out here in Beavercreek, Ohio. While it’s not an auto start, it’s good for us, and semi “portable” (weighs 300 lb) but is on wheels.
Happy belated birthday Rondo! Glad you got generator up and running. Have considered them in the past but never pulled the trigger. Jason ram his off grid cabin on one for a few years. Hope all is well! - Josh
hi there good show , got a used one around 10 years ago , small diesel on wheels , 125 gallon tank uses 1/2 gallon pr hour when running , fill my farm tank up with the left over and put fresh in every fall , Happy New Year to all john
Any chance I can convince you to make a video of all your wiring, from the meter, to transfer switch, to generator? I just bought the 22kw version, almost have our gas lines all routed, and just have all the wiring to complete. I think I have it pretty figured out, but it would be nice to compare it to someone else's, just to feel better about it all. Great video though.
I need to install a home generator at some point. I also need to own my propane tank. With the wood boiler, I dontbuse enough propane so they want to charge me a tank fee. Hate being a prisoner! Haha
I believe half load for a 24kw is about 2 gallons an hour. Running 8 hours every 24 hours. 100 gal would last 6 days or so. . Run 24 hours a day, the same 100 gallons will last barely 48 hours.
Not how that works due to vaporization rate within the tank vs tank capacity vs outside temp. When it is 20 degrees outside, you can't even get half the LPG out of that tank, and it only holds 96 Gal when it is full.

i had a 24k generator put in with a 500 gal in ground tank and it cost around 18 grand so you got the deal of the year.
That is about right with a buried tank, anode bags etc

That 120gal tank is going to struggle producing gas on colder nights..... That generator will such all the vapor gas off the tank.
Thank you sir
