Well, freed them after enslaving them. Or rather, being the first enlightened kingdom to start realizing that the (at the time) quite common slave trade, maybe had some moral implications. It's pretty parallel to something as taking 80% freedom from a population, then giving 40% back and telling that same population that they should rejoice in getting 'their freedom back'.

- English starts being replaced, as it is the language of the oppressors. Indigenous languages preferred.

When I hear the term Anglo-Saxon Political Traditions I think of the Magna Carta and English Common Law which was not derived from Roman Law; it was a unique gift of the English to the West.
