Thank you for sharing our dear Mario to the internet crowd. He did have a mutual love affair with the UK and especially Queen Elizabeth II. I am from the US. 🇺🇸 Mario was an Anointed Voice. That huge lirico-spinto tenor is unmatched. Bellissimo Mario! I throw a kiss to Heaven to honor our Maestro Mario Lanza! ❤

The greatest tenor of them all

I came from the same South Philadelphia neighborhood that Mario Lanza was from. He was the most natural singer and brought opera to the masses. Sadly, he wasn't well disciplined and died of a heart attack at age 38. From my perspective he was the greatest tenor ever in his short career.

Well, first commenter today and greetings from NSW Australia! This is one of my absolute favourite arias. I had always just kind of dismissed Mario Lanza, but then I watched a doco about him and completely changed my mind. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hello! how is Queensland? Is everything getting back to normal, are live concerts back on in NWS? It must be one of the most popular arias in all of opera. I have to admit I was rather with you on Mario when I was younger and the BBC still used to show his films here but I was impressed while watching and choosing a performance for this video. Thanks for watching and saying hello, don't be a stranger :-)

Mario lanza had every bit a powerful voice as Pavarotti..if you hear true tenors and operatic stars who have sung with Lanza will tell you that is voice was very powerful. If you judge a tenor on one live show then you are very narrow.. lanza

Ciao Rosanna!

Mario Lanza's voice was far larger than Pavarotti's even at Pavarotti's height. I think you will find its the recording that is the issue. Pavarotti was a lyric tenor, Lanza was a spinto tenor. Spinto tenors tend to have much bigger voices.
In january 1958 Lanza sang totally un-amplified in the Royal Albert Hall before the modification of the acoustics and more than filled the building with sound. Luciano Pavarotti never dared to do that even after the acoustics were 'fixed' in the RAH. Pavarotti had a heap of squillo so could be heard well in the opera house, especially in his younger days, but his voice was never big in the sense that Lanza's was.

I agree, not that it's ANY kind of debate, that Mario's voice was much bigger than Luciano's. Do some research, please X

"The Student Prince" is the first film I remember from my youth. Mario's glorious voice was used for the lead actor, and I fell in love with it. I have the album. Please react to his "Be My Love." Thank you for your reaction. Best wishes from Texas!
