I attend a recovery group (recovery from anything -- substances, people, emotional issues) -- and we have used the story of Kintsugi to show that people who once were whole, and have been broken -- can be patched back together, and we can even be proud of the scars and repairs, and be stronger for going through it all. Great to see you recovering these great artifacts -- and not hiding the repairs in some cases, but showing the care you have for restoring broken things....
That's beautiful.
Eloquently put thanks for sharing and keep up " your patching"!
can You tell us, how You are cleaning the bottles?
...it's amazing, when they look like new!
I love you put gold on the cracks, instead of trying to hide them! Like accepting wrinkles, it’s part of life and history ❤️
And gray hair♥️I love mine😂
I love the gold touch too
That's the essence of Kintsugi....
I love the "glass earthworm" (melted thermometer). You could give him tiny eyes and smile.and put him in the potted plants! 😂😂🪱😂😂🥰🥰🥰🥰
No bread but peas or corn. Great video this week Gals!
The pixie 🧚♀️ head was my favorite!!
Hello Gail and Alex. We had such a wonderful time on our mudlarking adventure with you lovely ladies. I had had a rough, long night at work, and this video was just what I needed to relax. Gail, how lucky were you to come across all the broken pieces of that plate, and Alex, you did an amazing job on the kintsugi repair with the gold leaf. The plate is my vote for the windowsill of wonders this week, along with the chatelaine's tool, I'm so glad you're not melting it down. Thanks as always for your wonderfully upbeat personalities and the informative stories behind some of your finds. I never knew about breast pumps being around since, well, almost forever. Truly a wonderful haul this week. Greetings and good wishes to you both from your friend in North Carolina. Take care until next time.
The swans in the background are so pretty and peaceful.
I love the little pixie head and the poison bottles.
It’s the chatelaine pieces for me, so much history surrounds them. They make such practical sense especially for crafters. I can think of lots of useful bits and pieces to carry with me, the bonus being never having to say “now where did I put that down?” Your lovely plate restoration was a very close second.
I agree. These were my choice as well.
WINDOW OF WONDERS The pretty plate ,Alex repaired.
Love the chatelaine piece! And the fact that you did not throw it in melting pot but took the time to discover what it was. It deserves a window spot ❤️
I agree
Love love love that Gail found all the pieces of a broken plate! That's in my top 5 favorite Northern Mudlarks moments. And the repair that Alex did is stunning.
A gold coin one day, and now a gold saucer😀
Yours, mine and ours. Sharing is wonderful between you two!
That silver tool holder would be good for the window. I'm glad your not going to melt it.
Love the blue poison bottle and the sponge print sherd.
Loved this episode of treasures. The silver tools are my choice for the window of wonder. But they are all worthy.
Wonderful finds, I vote for the silver tools and the smallest cobalt blue poison to go in the window :-)
The plate repair in the Japanese style is simply divine! I love how you create art from the found items!
Thank you for such an enjoyable film. Awesome.
The dish with the kinsugi treatment is an absolute treasure. So beautiful. Preserving history in such a lovely artful way. Thank you for sharing with us.
Full of amazing finds , love my potion bottle I though I would have to guess , I had made a list ! Lol thanks for the shout out . Really like the mix of finds info and craft mixed up keeps you watching for more x
I absolutely love the tiny poison bottles! Good job, ladies!
Ladies, you really outdid yourselves this week! WOW 🫶 The poison bottles are AMAZING, and that chatelaine set! Chatelaines chains were the “mom purses” of their day, weren’t they? “Scissors, nail cleaner, magnifying glass… no problem! I’ve got you!” Also - Betty White at 26:16 #awww! #StayGoldenGirls ✨
You ladies out did yourselves this video! Just absolutely wonderful!
Another beautiful evening watching you lovely ladies! I like everything you found, the black and white basket weave pipe bowls maybe for the window!❤
What a wonderful day of finds. I say the pin holder of silver in the window and the brown poison bottle.
What a lovely look for us who are interested in old thing that would be lost for ever if it wasn't for people liking your self's. We all appreciate the attention to detail and dedication you all give too these wonderful adventures. Keep it up ladies. Love you all from Steven from South Elmsall/pontefract Castle Town..
Brilliant finds Ladies!
I think the side of the riverbed is the best place for you ladies to find the amazing treasures!
So much to see and love the stories of the research about those items that you both find. Stay safe and well gals!
The chatelaine would look stunning on a long silver chain ❤️❤️❤️love it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great finds! So many intact poison bottles! And the chatelaine is a true treasure. I vote for it to be in the window of wonders.
Your repair of that broken plate is beautiful!
I’m in love with the concept of repairing a cherished piece with gold. It makes it more precious ❣️
For the wall of wonder, I nominate the repaired dish and the small blue poison bottle. Whatever makes it to the WOW will be just right❣️
Stiff & Sons made salt glazed stoneware insulators from at least the 1870s... lovely little pot. Those tiles are absolutely beautiful! Such strong colours. That little silver multi tool is fab! Alex did an amazing job of that gorgeous plate!
I am soo happy!! My day hasn’t been the best but now I have a new video of yours to make it better!! Thanks y’all!!
Nice bottle collection 👍
I love it when you say, “And you’re coming with us!” I feel included and invited- thank you for this great adventure.
Favorite thing this week is the little imp head🍀😊💚
The plate repair was so interesting and I liked the blue pattern. An interesting history trip, thanks.
Wee bit luck checking in😂 thanks guys❤️
HI GUYS!! I LIKE THE MAY FLOWER PLATE YOU REPAIRED, LOVE THE GOLD YOU PUT ON THE CRACKS. THIS DESERVES A SPOT IN THE WINDOW OF WONDERS. ALWAYS LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND LOVED HOW YOU REPAIRED THE PLATE. THANKS FOR SHARING AND STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY ❤️ 🙏❤️🙏
I like the little Pixie head it'll go great with your clay pipe mushrooms. I was thinking icicle for the melted thermomotor.
The beautiful plate. The Chatelaine was special. As a needle worker ( cross stitch, needle painting and satin work) I love the ability to keep my tools right on my person. So special.
Excellent kintsugi repair to that little forgotten dish. Beautiful work, as usual.
The wonderful repair of the old plate was my absolute favorite to think it was forgotten for so long but now a thing of beauty xxx
I vote for the chatelain part for the window !! What a great little find and well restored.
The silver tools for the window, most people would have walked past that well done.
I really enjoyed this video, poison bottles are my favourites, and you guys struck a goldmine! That huge bottle blew me away when it was cleaned up, it looked so perfect and new, not like something that has been precariously existing in a rocky dump for decades.
The plate restoration. You did such a lovely job!
I love your plate restoration. And the silver tools are my pick for the window of wonders.
Excelente program today, learn lots. Thank you ladies.💕
What a variety of treasures you found this week.
The hexagonal ink with the 'W' on it was a Waterman's ink. Great finds and the cobalt poisons are a treat.
What an amazing lark! So many great finds. I would say the plate that was restored Japanese style should go in the window. 🌟
Alex wonderful job on the plate! You both are so talented! I Loooovvveee the Swans and the basket pipe bowl. It's so different!
Love your bottles, girls and pixie heads and all the other finds you found
The plate was so lovely with the gold over the cracks, such a pretty effect.
Great finds, I vote for the silver Victorian tool
Such lovely ladies😊
I do hope that you understand how much joy you bring to viewers!
So kind of you to say - and thank you so much for your generosity, it's so kind on you! xx
What an amazing treasure hunt. So many beautiful pieces.
Wonderful day! Thank you.
I absolutely love the pixie head! I can’t wait to see him in silver!😀
To many to choose from, the plate that Alex fixed is probably my best treasure of this video.
Alex you have one of the most amazing and beautiful eye for cinematography I have ever seen. That is what first drew me to continue watching your channel from the first time I saw one of your videos. I had never seen any mudlarking videos before yours and thanks to your creative and exquisite skills with a camera I am now not only addicted but enthralled by it. I have always dreamed of living the life you and your wonderful mother seem to live. In an old house in the country living simply and peacefully with your animals. I've never been out of the US and have always wished to go to the UK. I still hope to go one day and you both have reinvigorated my dream of one day being able to go. I recently found out I have distant relatives still living in Scotland and Ireland. So again thank you for all you do to keep everyone entertained. ❤️
Great porcelain and tiles and stories…just a remarkable site and haul.
Hi girls!!! I hope that you find something on your bucket list!!!! Enjoy hunting
I love the music used while you are repairing the plate! Good job!
Great finds ladies. Love the tiny pixie head Thank you for sharing this ❤
I think that this episode of mud lurking for you has to be the best in variety and quality! Love watching everyone of your postings. Your jewelry your bottle digging your mud Larkin all of it and the nature that you include in them is very relaxing
I love watching and learning about the things you find
Beautiful poison bottles. Just love them. Lot of other cool finds. Love your videos. Can't wait till the next one. Keep mud larking.
Beautiful Kintsugi repair on the plate! The epoxy and goldleaf is a novel approach. Every time I see you two in your wellyboots I think of Billy Connolly's song! Happy Larking!
Where would they be eh? 😂
@Kazza 8240 The Hospital or Infirmary! Lol.😆
@@dannytorrance9555 🤣🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love your username too, I'm a fan of Stephen King 🤓📚
@Kazza 8240 Danny isn't here right now Mrs. Torrance....
@Kazza 8240 subscribed! I have been looking for "The Veil" episodes for Yonks! Boris Karloff was the king of Vintage horror! Onya!
Put some sand in a box and use it to “hold” your pieces together. While waiting to dry
I was going to suggest the same thing. That’s how the museum conservationists restore and repair antique porcelain.
There’s a RUclips channel by #Lakesidepottery. They have a very good video demo of the process.
What an absolutely amazing lark!!!!Lark!!!!! Too many goodies to be able to pick a favorite! ❤
The plate redo is amazing ♥️♥️♥️
I found your channel through a collberation you did with Kit and Caboodlers. You and your Mum are as delightful as Fleaur and Kate. Your enthusiasm is just as infectious. I have subscribed and rung your bell. I watch mudlarking videos while doing my hand sewing on history specific clothes for my vintage dolls . the lovely music and soft english voices are such a sweet background.
The chatelaine would look great on a long silver chain ❤️❤️❤️❤️love it well spotted 🥰🥰😍😍
The chatelaine piece should go in the window . What an amazing piece of history!
Beautiful repair job!
I love the Chatelaine piece for the window of wonders or a poison bottle for the wonderful history you gave us. Thanks!
this is the first time i’ve seen kintsugi crafted. such a treat & beautiful result!
what a haul today! amazing 😲
Your wonderful repair of the beautiful blue and white dish is amazing. It gave me ideas for my own crafting. Thank you so much.
I love all the poison bottles and the tiny pixie head, but my choice for the window of wonders is the broken dish made whole again and enhanced with gold along its fault lines. A lovely up-cycling.
Gayle was on fire again, all those poison bottles. Your adventures look amazing. Thanks for taking us along.
I vote for chatelaine tools for the window
Love the chatalaine piece and have to admit I like the black pipe and pixie head very much. Thanks for the fun trip.
Such wonderful finds! And the chatelaine! I was a metalsmith for 40 years & always wanted to make one.
Love your Japanese style gold fixing of the plate. It's very pretty. My favourite finds were the ladies clip and the cute pixie head. The chatelaine clip was an amazing find.😊❤️
What a wonderful and interesting haul 👍🏼
Loved all the finds but the bottles are my favorite! 😍
I am so fascinated about your videos. 3 weeks ago i found this channel and watched all of them. Thank you for taking me with you on your adventures. Unfortunately there are not so nice bottles to be found here. But sea glas I've been collecting for many years. I look forward to more videos. Greetings from Germany!!🌹🌹
Mining the chuck out is known as "tailing piles" to this day people can find treasure, ie: gold, crystals, and minerals in the tailings of old mines! Thank you for sharing!
The "doll's sink" starting around 1 minute and 26 seconds might actually be a piece of a watercolor (or other paint) pallet. They can often have little dishes that hold the stock of an individual color of paint. The trays can then be switched out to alter the colors available on the pallet. This form of pallet has been used, especially with watercolors, for hundreds of years. I'll find a link about these pallets and put that below in case you're curious.
Just realized I consistently spelled palette wrong
The second article is about the history of this style of water color palette. The paragraph directly under "Paints" would be especially helpful.
It's anything they want it to be
Love the perfectly imperfect restoration of the blue and white plate. Restored with love.
I like how you display all your finds at the end of the video - all cleaned up and looking great. Its amazing whats out there to find and still to be found in future mudlarking adventures.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it xx
The shatalein tool for the window of wonders 🥰🥰👍🏴
love the orange beed and the chatterlaigne tool too, lots of choices for the window too. Final choice for me would be chatterlaigne
Lid-ya…lol…the blue bottles are stunning…so much fun.
That piece of a chatelaine really deserves a place in the window of wonders!
What an amazing find! Who thought that this bended piece of silver would be so precious. ❤️
So many amazing finds. I agree with you, you can never have too many marmalade jars, I absolutely love them. I also loved the little bottles especially the blue ones. So pretty.
I would love to see a video of Alex making all of the molds she saving to make of some of y’all’s finds and the smelting process etc. I think everyone would enjoy it I know y’all have added a small part of the process before of a dolls head but I would love to see one of all the finds that are waiting to be done and to watch the silver liquify.
