- Steve West and the film crew head to Alaska's top brown bear area, the Peninsula, in search of the monster bears that live there. Joined by Dan Hanus from Bergara Rifles. Steve and Dan spend over 20 days in Alaska's wilderness battling the elements to achieve the ultimate bear hunting success.
I don't think I've ever heard someone sound less excited about an Alaska hunting trip than the narrator here.
i will be in alaska in oct of 2021 for brown bear hunting . im so excited . my first bear hunt and first time in alaska . great video
I could never afford a hunt like this either in time spent nor money. So thankyou for letting me live vicariously through you guys today. Truley an AWSOME hunt.
BS
39:30.. what a shot. Beautiful animals man. It’s like a dream hunt you guys are blessed.
Thank you, for your service Dan. Great shot.
Excellent introduction of your guest and his service, also explaining his expertise.
God Bless Dan for his service. It’s men (and woman) like him who keep my family & loved ones safe. Also, beautiful filming! I would absolutely love to have an opportunity such as this! Much love, Shelbie =) #neverforgotten ❤️
Thanks for letting us tag along with you on this incredible hunt.
What a very impressive video! That’s amore! Damn fine production, hunt et.al. God speed Marine!
Gonna buy a CVA accura mountain rifle, with Bergara barrel!
Wow this is the BIG TIME Folks. Awesome video and a great experience! Excellent camera work and interesting Comments! VERY professional gentleman. Epic! Thank you!
Very rarely see comments that compliment the video and everyone involved like these, and yours. Great hunt wasn't. He and I where 10 miles apart on the other side of the globe.
This has to be one of the best bear hunting videos that I've seen. Great work guys!
Good work
Enjoyed the bio on Msgt of Marines. Sounds like the rifle company was lucky to hire him after retirement. Keep up the good work and fight the good fight! God Bless / Semper Fi
Truly love watching your shows, my kind of reality shows.
I was impressed more by the host's rifle handling and follow up shooting vs the guy who was an sniper or precision shooter. His opportunity was at an closer range but his going to prone and two quick fluid shots were far smoother than someone who is susposed to be an rifle expert.
Way to put that large bear down quickly.
Maybe its the fact that its 2020 and the world is on lock down and that i am 5 beers deep but this is one of the best and most exciting filmed hunts iv seem on RUclips! Cheers!
AWESOME Video!!!
That is the funnest bear hunt I’ve ever seen
I have a similar camo pattern, only with smaller scale pattern. I figured it would be good for jack pine, dolomite rock and peat moss, which is abundant in Canadian shield terrain. I'm kind of a camo nerd. It would be a dream come true to go on a Northern expedition.
Wow I can't imagine the adrenaline that was pumping on that big boy. Crazy. Beautiful bear
I Never Thought Of Hunting Brown Bear !!! With A Polar Bear !!!!!! Steve.
Awesomerz damnnnnnnnnnn good 2 shots. Man I was feeling the adrenaline rush by far
way to go guys! a dream of mine! if only people understood that game management funded by hunters and tags helps these beautiful creatures be guaranteed survival for years to years to come!
Christina Wengerd bullshit
Wearing a 30 year old Field Jacket Liner! Such a Marine!
He knows what works! lol

That bear was like HEY MOM IM ON TV!!🤣🤣
at least you let him finish first😂great job guys 💯
This is the true definition of "epic" unlike how the word is thrown around for everything today.
Nice shoot
Nice job guy
Impresive hunting I was shocked the bear charged in the right direction, what a incredible animal.
He is like, "I love Alaska", right when bugs are all over his face lol

I've never been to Wild Alaska that would be interesting
brown bear how many shot in other kill?
OK so I have to be completely honest. How is killing a sleeping bear, after he just had sex and wanted to chill, a claim to victory? No judgement, just want to understand the mindset. Doesn't seem honorable to me. Thanks.
I swear I jumped for joy with you at the same time
Congrats... for your trophy huge Bear , thx for sharing ! Keep going buddy! Greetings from Canada..!😉 😊 😋 😎
In past years that bear would have been considered a small one. Today, that is an acceptable trophy. It takes many years to grow a 10' bear.
I see you all used begara rifles but what calibers were used for this hunt?
They in fact said .338 caliber
It's funny. I've been torn between a new tikka t3 or a Bergara b14 and watching this video made me positive I'm buying the Bergara. Anything an ex military gunsmith puts his seal of approval on I'm gonna jump on that wagon.
WHEN BEARS MATE IT IS NOT CALLED A RUT...ITS JUST MATING...A MOOSE DEER OR ELK RUT WHERE THE DIG A HOLE IN THE GROUND KNOWN AS A RUT WHERE HE WILL URINATE...A BEAR DOES NOT DO THAT ...TYPICAL AMERICAN SO CALLED HUNTERS
Dave Taylor lmao. Bears rut. The rut, derived from the Latin rugire (meaning "to roar"), is the mating season of mammals and is not limited to deer or elk at all.
Who only puts a single round in their rifle's magazine, particularly when after dangerous game. The need to reload that single round suggests a part of this video has been edited not to show several misses.
Paul Homsy 200 yards is an EASY shot. A bolt action rifle also requires feeding each round manually. Learn firearms 001 before posting, k thx
@@70mjc Yes, a bolt action rifle requires feeding each round manually FROM THE RIFLE'S MAGAZINE. Your video clearly suggests that the magazine was empty after the initial leg shot...
Otherwise a bolt action rifle would have two to three more rounds in its magazine. NOT in the adjacent bag unless more were needed. The fact the gentleman has to fetch an additional round from his bag, as shown on your video, indicates he either missed subsequent shots or only loaded a single round in his bolt action rifle treating it as a single shot. A bolt action rifle is not a single shot. Right ? Yes. K. Thanks.
So which is it ?? Did he miss subsequent shots and was forced to get an additional round from his bag ? That is exactly what your video suggests. It has a lapse that indicates a portion was cut out. That lack of continuity is what prompted me to write my initial comment. Missing in the field is not a sin. It happens to all. Or did the gentleman only load a single round in a bolt action thus defeating the purpose of a bolt action with a magazine ?? Too cocky to load more rounds ? I doubt that.
You go learn more than a thing or two about firearms. I have more years in the field than all of you combined. Developed my own cartridges. Shoot regularly at 1000 yards and have hunted game ALL over. You should have read my initial comment properly. English comprehension much ?
Why?? You cant eat a bear so why did you kill her??
Really awesome
Who's narrating this John Dunbar?
Why would you worry with all the ammo
Nice Bear! I see that Burris Veracity, love it.
one minute the bear is rogering the next minute hes a rug
The second bear went over the hill to see if he could find some humans that were easier to eat.
One day, Lord willing, I will make it to Alaska for a several-weeks hunt. Would love to hunt moose. But, brown bear will be first.
Buddy of mine would fly from Mojave desert (CHP) to Alaska. Eventually get to Bettles Ak. then a (float) bush plane to 75/125 miles in no man's land & hunt (unguided) for Moose & Caribou, successful every year. Moose always in excess of 60" spread. Donnie & his brother always successful. 1 year the bush pilot allowed to overweight the plane for the last trip out returning to Bettles w/meat & firearms & the plane was running out of runway (they called them ponds) at the last few yds the plane couldn't lift & it teetered to the point of no return & prop first teakettled upside down in 3' of water & trashed the prop. 3 days later somebody came looking for them uprighted the plane install a new prop and flew back to civilization. The meat was damaged but everything else survived. He said the next time he paid the extra fee for the last round trip while packing out 😂
That fricking airplane bruhhhh, almost ruin everything.
I think it's funny everyone keeps saying poor bear. That "bear" was a racist, homophobic, trump supporting, Republican that was against the Black Lives Matter movement. Someone had to get the strap.
What a beautiful animal!
Wheres the animal today? Just fewer for your grandkids to see if he ever gets the chance to see one in his or her lifetime. They need to limit these big buck idiots and let them hunt russia for big $. Thatd be the experience if everything works right. They got more big game not enough $ paying sportsman. Bet they have alot more accidents or sports injuries communication breakdowns
Yeah but what does the guide carry? His rifle…
I'm with you!
What caliber and ammo, did you guys use ?
What tents are you boys using?
I would consider that 1st shot way too far you hit it in the ass n broke his rear leg guess when you pay that much for a tag n times running out desperate mesuares call for desperate actions.
What .338 win mag are you using. It looks like the hunter model but I can’t find it on Bergara.
That's either a premier rifle or custom
Great hunt, Semper FI!
Do the bear hunker down when it rains? If not, have you kept going and still killed one. I love hunting when it’s raining and/or foggy.
Who are the people ?
Seems like most of hunting channels started to "clean" their comments lists. Why is that?
Pavle Balenovic Because people are idiots (read: vegans) and don’t know how to express their opinions without using poor language and insults.
Because of hunter hating vegans spreading their BS.
@@ottergreen8190 now even the meat eaters are against it! Hypocrites.
Muffin Top I’ve literally had people wearing leather while eating a hamburger how it’s disgusting that I hunt because it’s so cruel. What’s more cruel, an animal living it’s life in the wild and being taken ethically with an arrow or a cow that’s been on a farm, shoved into a cattle car, stressed out and have a bolt through its head? Wanna talk about “free range organic “, it doesn’t get much more free range organic than an elk or deer that you need to put heart and soul into taking, quartering and processing it yourself. Americans today are way, way to disconnected with their food whether it’s meat or even vegetables.
@@ottergreen8190 Yes I agree, people are way too disconnected.
Only the rich can hunt Alaska it's a 20.00p dallar hunt. Most people can't afford it. They have turn hunting into a rich man's habbit. Pour man can't afford to hunt any more
What bullets and caliber did you use?
338 Lapua would be a good choice. Savage has a great model for a fair price
How much does it cost to do something like this?
Michael Thousands
Luck and $50 k if you hitchike just to start them well get to the fees permits tags taxes taxidermy transport weight licenses guide fee camping gear boots etc. Thats after you get on the lottery and get real lucky and get chosen only a small limit cuz their rare so just kill em right mr buanna til their no longer on this earth. Maybe you forgot it took fools like this dudes great.great grandfather 10 years to get the American bison buffalo from 30 million plus to 325 before they said oh oh you think the natives are getting restless? The grizzley was next. Almost did it to the gators and ducks. Man is mother natures worst enemy. You think hell catch himself before he destroys the air waters and earths surface less alone her wildlife before he goes oh oh. Not as lomg as some fat cat gets fatter instead of zuper skinny real fast. Bad boy where you gonna run to when you ruin this earth? Mars yeah right what an imagination crom Disneyland. Bring your own lunch water and air forget the phone no one will be able to recieve calls in the next world ask anyone whos dead
Nice job
Where did the kill shot hit?
Left foot
@@lucienvandegaart3611 Oh, OK. I thought it was in the ass.
I see, so many people do not like hunters. I think you dont know what hunting means. You dont know what are you speaking.
You get out of the plane, youre in Alaska, youre breathing in, load the gun, shoot and kill the bear. Thats from what i know false.
Hunting means being patient. Im hunting in germany, we have no bears in the woods. But i was going to hunt a bear southern europe.
You have to go out in the woods and stalking a bear, it can happen that you need 10 days to see a bear. You see his shit only. And even you see a bear doesnt mean you can shoot the bear.
A good hunter makes a sure shot only. If i am not 100% sure that i can not kill the bear by the 1st shot.......im not going to shoot. Even i was waiting 10 days. I will let the bear go. And then, im stalking again. I can also happen that the bear will find you, and then you could be in big trouble. You see, the bear has realistic chance to kill you too. It is not easy at all to kill a bear in a forest.
And if you shoot a bear, you are definetly aware what an royal animal you killed. It will be a part of your life, you will never forget that you took a bears life and you will have huge rspect to this particular bear. You eat his meat, you keep his fur, you make tools out of his bones and you keep the claws.
This is what hunting is about, in my opinion. Peolpe who are against hunting will never have this "self experience".
But hey, you are still killing living beings, and for what? For fun? Whats this kind of fun killing an animal?
Dude, what’s with the Bugs!
Steve will Vergara make muzzle loaders too?
Those bears are just like big, sleeping after screwing and swimming.
That first shot was way to far, period!
Agreed... if he hadn't been a hunter with more range time than almost anyone else I had ever met, and a USMC shooter/gunsmith, and just all around one of the best shots I have ever been around... we wouldn't have let him take the shot. But Dan Hanus was a capable shooter.
Lets see, it appears that the bear was shot in the leg. Note he is dragging a hind leg as he runs toward your party. He turns toward you and the spotter is calling 480…… Really, way to far…. You know better!!
skip to 27 minute mark
it's boring until then, just guys talking about wanting to shoot a bear
“Not only was he the best gunsmith in Fallujah, he was the only gunsmith in Fallujah”
Ummm 🤣
😂😂😂
Why do you always have backpacks on? Whats in them?
Great bear hunt. Glad to see burris being used. I only use burris optics.
Alaska is not bigger than Canada .
Didn't watch the video. Music is totally unnecessary.
are you guys really that soft that you call that hard, looks more like a nice walk with the reward of getting a bear, hop you put the meet and fur to good use. Nothing wrong with hunting if nothing is wasted.
Hey dude. You just loaded your rifle and then you stand there with the muzzle pointed up and your hand over it ...... come on now. Thank god you made sure your rifle was one safe. Haha. Damn marines taught you that huh?!?!
DAN.... Who's The DADDY ...Yeee!!! Haaaa!!!😎😎😎
Really unlimited time and money and the best you can do is take a bear breeding
kelly smith , I agree!
Just answer me this : Why kill an innocent animal with guns beyond his imagination ? There no match . A lot of hate to you , so-call people but lets just wait for this answer. Just this one. Please.
Awesome video and location loved it. just killed me to see guys with $1500 plus worth of kuiu camo and who knows what else gear and theres a kid with pants and a tee shirt on. Ive killed big deer in ohio just getting off work as a cop. No shower no scent lok no spray. I guess do what you do lol great video tho. I just had that one tid bit to criticize Idk if that was the guides kid or not because he didnt have the crazy expensive gear.
You took a shot at a brown bear at over 500 yards??
He's a trained military marksman. And it was 600 yards. Guys like that can make shots like that in their sleep.
With that rifle and experience. Yes. 600yds all day
I'm a hunter myself but a 600 yard shot on an animal that you respect and want to have a good clean death is just unethical
Kman31ca he was a precision rifle gunsmith, far from a “military marksman”. Nonetheless he is obviously capable so I don’t see the problem.
@@langan9000 Dead isn't unethical no matter how far away it comes.
poor second bear, at least the first got to get his rocks off and a cigarette
Damn vegan insults....my god I hope the bald eagle hasn't turned too!
J’ai honte, de faire partie .... du monde de la chasse.
The so-called great hunter. You know, when you shoot a bear from over 200 yards away, that's not exactly self-defense or self-preservation. So how does this guy call himself the great hunter when he is at a grossly advantage and the bear is at a gross disadvantage?
I know what brown bears are and I know how fiercely predatorial they are. They killed Timothy Treadwell and a great many other innocent people. I know they are animals that love to hunt and kill, it's all they do. I understand how dangerous they are and how they put us all at risk just being around them.
When you shoot one of these monsters at over 200 yards away, how in the world do you call yourself a terrific Hunter? Wait until the thing is 10 yards away then start blasting, and then tell me how Brave you are
Bruh, at least you didn't kill it whilst it was busting nuts.
I don't agree with trophy hunting. Population control, yes...but not to hang a head or rug on a wall.
chickens guys
Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out.
Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!
27;48 Hard to bring down ? You shot him in the back leg . Then you had to get more bullets out of your backpack . How many times did you miss ? or wound him? What a load of BOLLOCKS
We're is africa

i usually love your videos but this one really pissed me off. you NEVER shoot a brown bear that far, you guys got extremely lucky it turned back at you. should be ashamed putting that on youtube. you lower 48'ers are annoying , save those long shots for sheep, deer, antelope, but not the second biggest predator in north america
Leave the war and army stuff out. I am interested in an animal hunting video, not human killing.
Glorifying in self is definitely not Godly.
Must be ruff.
That's sick why the heck would u kill a beautiful bear for ... it didnt do anything to u why would u shoot it... I dont care if it's legal it not it's not right I'm about hunting but not bears tigers lions ect like that or wolfs it's wrong
You say the bear didn't do anything to them, so why shoot it, yet you are "about hunting." What animals do you approve of being hunted, and what did they do to you, since that is your stated issue with this hunt?
2 words. Frogg Toggs.
