my in-laws live and died in my house but left my husband and I nothing. It's the one that they don't live with that gets everything. My point is that it really depends on the parents because some of them aren't fair and they don't give their love equally to each and every one of their children. Now that I think about it I wish I had nothing to do with the in-laws....they just wasted half of my life, my precious time with my children and in return I get nothing except high blood pressure, depression, and funeral debts.

Exactly. Some parents have favorites that is why their kids fight about who will take care of them. Sorry you went through that. May your good deeds bring you luck and blessings.

Your siblings didn’t want your parents but they want your parents’ money. Shame on them. Don’t worry how much your brothers cause trouble for you, you have your parents blessings and protection.
As an outsider, I’m thankful for your good husband to take your parents in. I love and had learned something important about the part that when your father told you to prepare a place outside for him to die, your husband said no and said, “Cia txiv nyob twj ywm hauv tsev es thaum txiv txoj sia plam kiag es peb txhob quaj thiaj tsis ua rau kuv tej dab qhuas ceeb thiab ntshai”. So inspiring.
    God bless you both.

Now this is a sister that can talk the talk and walk the walk. Every other story, all we hear is a sister complaining about how much her brothers and their wife mistreat her parents, but she won’t dare to put her foot down to stand up to her brothers and take her parents in to live with her. I applaud this sister so much! 👏

Kudos to your husband for accepting your dad. I been there in this situation. their wive are their puppet master. so they gotta pick one. I chose to take care of my dad even when my wife threatened in divorce. Me and my little children helped and all my brothers didn't really do crap, but act like guest when they come over. showing good examples for my kids and not one guilt when he pass away.

My husband and I are 38 and his parents live with us. I know his siblings (especially the sisters) think that they give my husband the most but really that’s not the case. They don’t give us nothing, we dont expect nothing. My in laws still work, but choose to stay with us. I don’t like the stereotype people think they give the one living with them everything when it’s not the case! If anything the one the parents live with is expected to give the most and do the most.

I can’t believe the brothers had the nerve to throw “old traditions vs new traditions.” If they want to claim so much about old traditions, they should’ve taken the parents in a long time ago, rather than send the parents to a nursing facility. Also, every adult in this story seem to make enough for their own living. Why depend on the parents’ money for anything?

Good thing your parents were willing to live with you and left everything behind for you. Most parents are very stubborn and unfair to their daughters. You deserve their blessings. You should also be grateful that your husband did not follow the Hmong tradition of not allowing the wife’s parents live with them. He has a good heart.

It sucks that her brothers have to be so petty, they didn’t want to help the parents yet they demand for everything the parents have just because they argue over birthrights of being a son. It’s so hard to be a Hmong women due to the entitlement of sons. Not all sons are like this but most are.

Come back and brag about it when you can do the same thing for your in law. These days “ntxhais” can love and bury their own parents…nowadays “nyab” can’t do the same. Women these days can only be a good “ntxhais” but not a good “nyab” so 🛑 bc as much as you are complaining about your nyab and bro your sil is complaining about you too. Same cycle bs!

I give you props. At least you dont sit there and nag about what your brothers and nyabs are not doing for your parents and actually took your parents in. It makes me ill when some sil nag and complain but cant even take their parents in. Smh
Most Hmong parents are still traditional in their ways of thinking. Learn to accept changes. I will not be a burden to my kids and guilt trip them about not taking me in. When im gone i dont want to cause such conflict between my kids and have them hate each other. My purpose of having kids is to see them grow up to be productive members of society and simply be happy, not to take care of me at old age.

Wow. Thank you for caring for your elderly parents so that they lived 10yrs more with you. They would've died in the nursing home within a yr. Your bros should thank you and wash your feet. Not everyone can do the caring you can. Your parents are right to leave you what ypu earned. Your bros are just greedy. I hope your sisters, if you have some, support you. Stay strong and focus on your life with your kids. If your bros exclude you bc of greed, they don't deserve a loving sister like you anyway. Good luck and don't give up that rhino horn. You earned it. Pass it on to a child who also earns it.

But there are a lot of sons who no longer can care for their parents. There is a lot of truth to this story as we see a lot of our older generation parents and grandparents suffer the same way. Sons can't and won't because their wives won't allow them to and they choose their wife over their parents.

I believe if mom and dad chooses their daughter to hold/keep all their money and pca then yes she should take all the good, bad , and ugly. She should not brag about it and be content with it. Seems like the lady here only wants her mom/parents during the good times. She did not want to be the one to bury her parents cause then she would have to use the funds her parents left her. Stop blaming your brothers/nyab and be happy that your parents chose you

    • @janesmith7057
      @janesmith7057 10 месяцев назад +7

But she did buried her parents, not her brothers. So many of these stories and its always the same, the sons don't want to take care of their parents because their wives are not willing to. This is a very true fact for many Hmong families. In this cases, all these sons are not man enough to make decision to love their parents and they have the audacity to be upset at the parents for giving their luck and money to the sibling that was willing to step up for them. shame on the sons!

This story makes me think about my siblings and how we will also be when my parents pass away. I know my two sisters and I promise each other that we will NOT bicker over money, and if the brother want it, let the have it. I love my parents so very much, and thank GOD for them. Knowing our Hmong culture, it IS unfortunate that daughters are treated differently and unfairly. God bless you tug vivncaug kws koj muaj lub sab dlawb paug paab koj nam koj txiv thaum 2 tug tsi taug. Thanks to your husband too. Caring for our parents is not about money, but it's a teaching tool for our own kids so that they will care for us when our time come. There is always two sides to the story. If your story is real and you are that innocent such as taking in and caring for your parents from the good of your heart, you will always be blessed. Otherwise, your karma will come when you least expect it.
I know a greedy siab phem daughter who fought with her siblings to win her mother. She disliked all her siblings and when her mom finally moved in with her, she brainwashed her mom, turned her mom against all her siblings, at the end the mom died and she ended up with all of her mom's money and belongings, just as she wanted. Her brothers didnt attend the mom's funeral. Other daughters paid a respectful visit only. The funeral was very sad. Was it worth it?
Sometimes a sibling is so evil they have no compassion for other siblings. They only want their parents to brag and care about them only. Some parents have favorites too, in the end, other children dont want to take care of them. There is always two sides to every story.

You are a super daughter and sister. Your brothers are wrong. The fact that they refused to do their parents' funerals and let all the expenses and responsibilities to u, and the fact that they refused to show up to their own mother's funeral say everything about them and how selfish, greedy, petty, and immature they are.

Unless those brothers becomes aware of their mistakes, they can never truly love unconditionally. Loving ur parents should never be about money, but know that they are ur parents and all the sacrifices they did so that the kids will have a better life is more than enough. Karma will surely catch up to them.

You shouldn't boast. You need to understand that all your brothers each has a cop watching their every move. But in your case, you are the cop so your husband has to do whatever you say or it's divorce... just like one of your brothers. At this time and place, when a man marries a woman, he gets neutered. The man's parents pay the bride price but it's the woman's parents who gain a son and the man's parents losing a son because the wife will make the man love her parents and h a t e his parents... or it's bye-bye no sugar tonight and child support and no home tomorrow. This is why a lot of American men never marry.

There's always two side to a story. Im not sure if I believe this sister. She said she is so sad her brothers didnt help her with her parents funeral. But she also said the clan leader force the brothers to hand over $15k from each life policy to her, that mean they help 30k which is alot already.

The question is, yes, all daughters will take their parents in but why not the inlaws. Mostly the husband's are scared of loosing their wives and family so they will take the wives family in. So it's the hmong men can't be a real man. Not all hmong women are like that.
