“i’m luck’s last match struck… in the pouring down wind”
one of my favorite soundgarden tracks
“I Sharpened my wits on a dead man’s skull, built an elevator from his bones”. Chris Cornell is a goddamn poet.
I love soundgardens creativity when it comes to time signatures, riffs and vocal timing
Always love your reactions Rory!
Soundgarden really are an exceptional band. Heavy themes in most of their songs, but somehow, listening to them always puts me in a great mood.
Yes!!! I found a Soundgarden reaction of yours i haven't seen! Thanks Rory
Love ur reactions its nice to see someone that appreciates the sheer genius of chris and soundgarden i first heard them in 92 have loved them and chris ever since ❤️
I’ve never verified this, but I always thought Chris wrote this around the first anniversary of Andy’s death (March ‘91). “Candles burning yesterday, somebody’s best friend died and I’ve been caught in a mind riot”
The whole song is pure poetry. Just beautiful, dark imagery
😢 Soundgarden was my everything when my sister was killed at 17! I can’t imagine that time of my life without this album! At this time in my life I was “tightrope walking in 2 ton shoes”. Somebody’s best friend has died… I was crying from my eye teeth and bleeding from my soul….. I was so caught in a MIND RIOT! When someone can put into words what you are going through better than you could ever express them yourself……. It means so much
"I'm Luck's last match struck in a pouring downwind" fucking killer line
*Rory.* Thank you for Chris day 🤗 SG played around a lot with alternate tunings. Chris wrote this song, tying back to a conversation he had with PJ bass player Jeff Ament, where Jeff said: "Wouldn't it be crazy if someone tuned all 6 strings to E?" And Chris did that here, all tuned to diff. octaves of E 😂
These lyrics are amazing as well. (I was tightrope walking in 2 ton shoes)
It's always great to hear your thoughts and see your genuine appreciation as you discover these awesome tunes -- as a reactor, musician, and a new superfan 👍
Your music reviews in general are terrific, but your responses to all things Chris are just next level, and make me unreasonably happy. 😄 *Peeps*- If anyone needs a reminder of how good Rory is at what he does, watch just about any Cornell-related review on just about any other channel. 😄
Favorite song of all time. I've been waiting for someone to react to this, thank you🙏🏽
Check out limo wreck, seasons, sunshower, call me a dog, when I'm down and burden in my hand.
Ben's bass tone is perfect.
“Weird and wonderful.” You nailed it, man!
This and superunknown are masterpieces! Thx rory for the great content! 🤟
One of my favourites from that album. Lots of Zeppelin vibes here.
Thank You Lydia for Soundgarden/ Chris Cornell day, and thank You Rory, I love all your reactions to Chris you are so mesmerizing by him, right there with you!! That's how I feel about Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam always blown away!! Thank you for sharing this awesome video 😊💓🤘✌️
I built an elevator from his bones…
Damn that part gets me..
This song has one of the best lyrics ever written by Chris Cornell in my humble opinion. Also, interesting fact, the guitar tuning for this song is in all E.
part of the weird sound of the track comes from the strange guitar tuning (every string is tuned to E)
Do Chris Cornell -Ticket to Ride live at the trubador
That ending!! 😮🔥
enjoyed the tribal, mystical sound
🔥 🔥
Soundgarden: Zero Chance 👊🏽
Nice mention of the only band that matters.
Well, you gotta do Drawing Flies, now..
Love this 😍 can hear some kind of middle eastern scale?
That Clash album is FIRE!!!
Hello Rory reaction - Whitesnake - Give me all your love You'll be impressed . David Coverdale has a powerful voice and today he still got it he's one of my favourite rock singers , he started singing in Deep Purple, his long singing career praises him 🤘🎸🎙👍👌🎼 WOW thanks
This is literally on par with the songwriting of the Beatles. Slowed down and sludged.
