I heard both in store using the same audio samples on both and DID hear a difference. The ultra just sounded cleaner, crisper high end and better bass response. I bought the Ultra and I don’t regret it. The sound is amazing! I think it comes down to what you can afford.
Thanks brother, Actually if we get to practical point, Bose Smart 900 already have same hardware and performance as similar to Ultra ,Even without turning Dialogue mode on or AI dialogue in ultra still both bose soundbars produce same enhanced details sound effects depth and speech , but considering extra 150 for A.I dialogue i dont think its worth. Because when A.I mode when engaged during dialogue scenes backround tones gets adjusted for particular time whereas in 900 if engaged on dialogue mode the tone is full time adjusted even though dialogue mode is not necessarily required because already it produces deep notes crisp audio clear speech without dialogue mode on. So i think from my perspective 150 extra for just A I dialogue feature is not even close to consideration to worth. Instead they should provide UPGRADE to Predecessors like Bass module and Surround speaker with 900 models for both. Yes Thats worth, not for just A I mode😊
I have the 900 and really enjoy it. My only beef is that it doesn't support DTS. Alot of older movies or shows i know use DTS...i can't believe an upgrade doesn't include it!...I'll be sticking with the 900 until a better upgrade comes around.
The BIGGEST difference is... 900 (and 700) have Google Assistant, Ultra does not. The Ultra only has Alexa built-in. As per the Bose website spec on the Ultra... "Amazon Alexa is built in, so just say the word. Or connect the soundbar to a Google device for Works with Google Assistant capabilities.". With the 700 and 900 Google Assistant is built in, just like Alexa. For Google enabled homes, this is a big step back.
I got the ultra. Worked for 2 months then when it came time to update the firmware, it froze and cannot reboot. Returned to Bose, now I have to wait more than a month for the replacement.
For a few bucks more you can buy the Sonos Arc and get a much higher quality soundbar with way more options to add to the system down the road. Bose has always been about marketing and never about the sound quality.
The sound performance of the Bose 900 is beyond reproach. It is crystal clear and sounds excellent whether watching content or listening to music. I am not into Sonos because it has a myriad of non stop issues to contend with. I have zero issues with my 900 system and I value reliability highly. True Sonos has a lot of options to choose from but sometimes simplicity is best because you have less to contend with. How's the Sonos app working for you?
is 600 ( USD ) a good price for the 900 sound bar...currently have the 600 soundbar and love it but want a bit more is the 900 worth moving up to ? and is the ultra a big difference with the 900 ?.....thx for your review..MERRY CHRISTMAS ...cheers from Canada
Hi @SandhuS-ct8ir, The Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar comes with a number of improvements over its predecessors, including better sound quality. The AI Dialogue mode is one of the improvements, so is the Bluetooth version - on Ultra Smart Soundbar we get Bluetooth 5.0.

Wow, my first 900 died in five months and since it was under warranty they replaced it with a new one in five days.

So they produced aesthetically the same device but with AI dialogue sounds like a cash grab if I've ever heard one

It only has one HDMI port, I would not be able to to use my fire stick,too bad otherwise I would buy one....
