The excitement and optimism in this comment section is awesome to see! Let's keep showing out for our guys! The effort they put in and how serious they take their job makes it easy for us as fans to support this team. They earn it every week with HOW they play week in and week out. It means so much to everyone in the building. They're having so much fun man, gosh I wish I could be there and feel what they feel in that building right now. People want to be part of something bigger and I can only imagine what these players feel riding the wave of this success that they've earned.
I watched the whole game last night after working during the game. Not as concerned about the second half defense as i was. The only real big mistake was that Chase long TD pass. That and some penalties. That Herbert fumble really felt like the difference in that part of the game that made it so close. They would have bled off another 3-4 minutes on that drive and ome away with some points. Anyhow, bolt up everybody!
Yea i agree bro. Someone gets it!!! Can't really say it was a 2nd half collapse, when that's what we've been doing every game. Because our games are usually decided by halftime, we go straight into clock management. Work smarter, not harder right? Our offense chewing up clock is the obvious strategy, and we don't necessarily have to score in those situations. but allowing the opposing offense to contribute to the clock is equally as effective.... as long as we don't give up the big chunk plays and protect the football. What was great about this game, is that the Chargers showed how they respond when things DON'T go according to the plan, mistakes happen, fumbles, #1 WR in the league does #1 receiver things...etc etc etc. So the offense HAD to actually score points to close the door. And that's what they did. in convincing fashion. That's amazing. I understand where the panic from Charger fans comes from though, because we are used to 2nd half collapses happening due to lack of adjustment. This time around, it's by design and we are not familiar with that concept. If it were due to lack of adjustment, we'd be FAR from being the #1 scoring defense in the league.... know what i mean? BOLT UP!
A great testament to Jim Harbaugh's plan was the block that our Quintin Johnson put on the Bengal's top corner Cam Taylor-Britt. The block helped free Dobbins for the game winning touchdown... In past versions of the Bolts - this would have been a holding penalty...
Harbaugh has changed the expectations from always finding a way to lose games like this, to always finding a way to win games like this. The difference in that mindset is so important because either way it will become a self fulfilling prophecy. Thank you Coach Harbaugh for changing the mindset and the narrative. This is what the Chargers needed..
This is the 2nd time I have played this video because im so excited about this team. Shoutout to all my fellow Plumbers holding it down in San Diego and worldwide!!! BTFU from Chula Vista ⚡️⚡️
First halftime got me hyped like never before. Second halftime sent me back to 14th of January 2023. There was really one thing that I thought was not only untypical for Roman and Harbaugh but also for the score they had after halftime: It felt like they abandoned the run instead of establishing it and trying to give Burrow as little time as possible. Justin was throwing it way to much, collecting nothing more than incompletions for almost two full quarters and therefore stopping the clock so often. It felt forced, trying to close out the game, which reminded me a lot of these last couple of seasons, when they just could'nt run the ball. If the Bengals had scored these two FG's, the Chargers may have still scored a TD, but they would'nt have run the ball like they had the opportunity with a tie game to win it like they did. I know, this is not a game of "if's and when's" in the end - but if you allow a team to score three TD's and two (missed) FG's unanswered! in just two quarters, then you will loose these games more often than not! They were up 27-7 against Jacksonville at HT and we all know what came next. 24 points were "enough" to eliminate them from playoffs and the team/coaches got slandered for it. If the Bengals had scored theses FG's, this would've even meant 27 unanswered points and nobody is criticising the team/coaches for that. This cannot happen, even if you won this game in the end. If the Chargers had lost this game, this would've been the headline of the game so I think its super important to point out these negative factors as well, not just resting on the "Harbaugh-effect". This win happened not because the Chargers won it in the second half but because the Bengals lost it! They had 4! posessions in the second half, where they did'nt run once while throwing for 10 incompletions, burning just 2:46 min in the process. Just one posession with 3 runs and a punt would've given them almost 2:40 min! Now multiple that by 4 and you have 10:40 time of posession instead of 2:46 min, lifting your time of posession by almost 8 minutes! Burrow needed 9:05 min to score his 3 TD's, now see whats happening (or not)! I remember you guys poining this out after the Denver-Game: let them score in the second half, let them creep up, but keep them in check with limited time by running the ball! So why did'nt they do it here with a lead even greater than the one in Denver? They got one-dimensional and that was easy to defend, even for the Bengals defense! Saying that, I'm pretty sure the coaches are well aware of that. They've learnt from their mistakes so far and got the team stronger afterwards so I'm really looking forward to these next games! Let's get after these unbearable Chiefs! Thank you Matt and Lo, looking forward hearing from you next week! Cheers from Germany :)
Edit: typed this before your mailbag, should've waited. I see your point with Herbert cooking. This is still quite untypical for a headcoach who used to opt for not throwing a single pass in a playoff game and won. Maybe this is also what they had in mind, trying to break up the bias of a run-first offense, especially when having a lead so that they can punish someone later in the season or playoffs for thinking like that. In the end its playing chess with fridges, but man did this feel unbalanced...
They were able to get back in to the game in the second half because 1 mack would of made that pressure percentage go from 48% to 50-55% or more but the biggest thing was as soon as cam hart and fulton went out they were doing everything they could to stop the bleeding as much as possible their was a lot of soft coverage after that and just a emphasis to keep everything in front of them as much as possible and still credit to the defense to still stop them and force long field goals with a lot of good db talent off the field I think molden was out some too but it was also weird from roman to go to much to the extreme with trying to keep pushing the ball downfield when they should of ran the ball more than they did being up a few possesions im all for letting herbert cook but it worked perfectly to start leaning on jk and gus more instead of a lot of quick 3 n outs I like that roman sticks with the hot hand and with whats working good but he does it to the extreme sometimes he needs to dial that back some and the same with giving qj so many go balls and stuff were he has to win physical catches that will never be his style he needs crossers, slants, screens things like that
IMO the Bengals were able to get back into the game because: 1. Gave up the few big plays (#1 WR doing #1 WR things, this is less of something in their control) 2. Turnover (HUGE mistake) 3. Penalties (mistakes) Chargers' second half defense is by design. Game is over at halftime. They allow the opposing team to sustain drives in the 2nd half because it's just as effective at running down the clock with their OWN offense. It's a win/win situation for them. The goal is to run down the clock, first and foremost. Chargers offense doesn't even really need to score points, at that point. That plan DOESN'T work when ^^^^ those 3 things above happen in the process. Which is what makes this win a "signature" victory. Things didn't go according to plan, and they did what they needed to do to win with a phenomenal QB.
Gotta include the Pittsburgh Steelers in that list of AFC teams with a shot, Lo. Payton Wilson's arms are 30 ½". Truly T-Rex. I am really looking forward to the Ravens on MNF. Once again, the punditry will throw the Chargers into the ditch. I hope they have to 🍽 crow like they all did on Sunday! As always, great pod, guys! BTFU ⚡
MONEYYYYY!!! Can we talk about how we haven’t had much, if any, injury commercial breaks?! All my die hards in the chat know what I’m talking about.. Shout out Coach Herb! BTFU!!
Let's stop with all the talk about Minter leaving. Don't you think he wants to win a Super Bowl? Yes, we have a great D right now. But aside from that, what has Minter done? There's still a lot to accomplish. He's not going anywhere.
The fact the chiefs are 6-1 in one score games means we have a decent shot at the division. They can't win them all. So if we beat them next meeting and they drop another, we are tied. I think it's more possible than people are talking about.
Go on the ESPN playoff machine and simulate each matchup for the rest of the season. The Chargers have a pretty realistic shot to win the division AND the 1 seed considering the remaining schedules of KC, BUF, PIT, and BAL.
Is it just me or is Hensley the best all round player we have on defense? That dude is balling. Making key plays. Always seems to be in the mix. Great tackler. Not sure he’s getting enough pub.
Sorry Money, I was at the game, ton of Bengals in Bengals bench section, 75/25, Tenn game was 80/20. You must not recall the Jax game 2 years ago in 2022 when it was a 99/1 ratio, like 2 or 3 Jags fans there.
Lo that year the Chargers were down by 21 at half and came back to win. You guys also did it the next week in a row. I think it was Denver and we were down by 21 and came back to win. It was the first time in NFL history to be down by 31 points in back to back weeks and win them both!!⚡️⚡️⚡️UP
Did anyone else notice that Hendrickson was acting like an emotional 10 year old girl the whole game on the sidelines?Dude seriously acts like he has emotional problems.
assuming we keep progressing and stay the course and get in the playoffs, i’d love to play at houston then get a shot at kc. if we lose there in three weeks i don’t necessarily care- they ain’t scumming out and beating us three times!!! agree that cincy could still beat anyone if they got in. any chance we go after tee in offseason??great show as usual guys. BTFU⚡️
omg i was at that game it was electric i admit i got a little nervous there when Bangals came back but i lost my voice screaming that whole last scoring drive La Dee Dee catching those two huge catches 😂😂 by the way great job money calling the game
Lamar Jackson vs a very good Chargers secondary (if healthy) will be a great matchup. Up front, Chargers need to contain Lamar like Pittsburgh did. DL needs to be gap disciplined, stop middle runs and force Jackson & Henry outside. Meanwhile Chargers Oline needs to give Herbert time to exploit a decidedly weak Ravens secondary, especially med-long passes. But Ravens D-line run D is one of best in league so expect 2-deep dime packages to counter Chargers/Herbert, daring Chargers to beat them with the run. Let the Harbowl game begin!
Frontrunner? This isnt last year. All of the Ravens losses besides Pittsburgh happened after having a multiple score lead and we also had two other games we gave up a multiple score lead and almost lost. We have more comeback wins than losses too. I also hope Simpson plays as good as yall hyping him. He hasn't earned his Raven card yet and has been on the bench a lot because Hamilton takes his spot a lot. That changed against the Steelers tho with Hamilton playing more deep safety.
One problem this MNF is they’re wearing the Navy set in which they have ZERO wins. Uniform scheduler should have saved that set against a favorable NFC game and not against an AFC contender with playoff implications. Hopefully the Harbaugh effect pulls through to get our first W wearing Navy. 🙏🏼⚡️⚡️
Again, the Chargers offense has made steady progress sense the bye. Having said that, they, the offense, have not produced a game where they play the way they are capable for four quarters. The defense has played well enough to win as well. HOWEVER, they have not played a game where they play the way they are capable for four quarters. I think they will achieve a complete game this season and when they do.... if they want to make the playoffs they need to keep making progress on both sides of the ball every week. They are running out of weeks. No room for failure.
Very exciting game, with yet another win aided by lucky breaks. Massive officiating mistakes, 3 calls that cost the Bengals in less than 30 seconds. The first blown call came on a bad roughing the passer penalty on Bengals defensive lineman Trey Hendrickson, who took Justin Herbert down with a legal tackle, but he was called for roughing. Following that questionable call, 3 plays later, Herbert should’ve been called for intentional grounding. He threw the ball away with 13 seconds left on the clock and no one in the vicinity. However, no flag was thrown. And, finally, on the next play, Bengals cornerback Josh Newton was called for pass interference on a pass intended for Josh Palmer. The pass was incomplete, and barely even catchable, but a flag for pass interference was thrown. This shouldn’t have been a flag, either. Those 3 blown calls all helped extend the Chargers’ final drive of the half. Los Angeles was able to get points out of it, extending its lead to 27-6 before halftime. But if the Chargers hadn’t benefited from these 3 blown calls at the end of the first half, maybe the game goes differently in the second half.
Excuses . Herbert got his face pulled. No flag! And there were other calls that went against the chargers. Thats what happens in a football game, refs make mistakes on both sides. You lost because your team couldnt score when you had 3 chances at the end. Chargers had one last chance and they came thru. Bengals played a great game, with a lot of heart. It was an amazing game win or lose.

Watched a video with JK saying he went and asked his coach if he could score that final TD. JK was his usual funny self. Love the pod.

talking about crazy throws from herbert my favorite is still the 65 yd bomb against the giants in 2021
Epic! I agree, my favorite too. One of the best throws of his career. It was an absolute dime.
The throw to QJ in this game was unreal.

We need a game like this to show the players , and us that we've turned the corner!!!
I agree, but the upcoming Ravens game is the real test.
Playing Sub 500 teams! Sadly we don't have that option any more so now we can see how good the team really is

Matt we actually lost in 2018 in the regular season. Came back to get revenge in the playoffs and then got stomped by Tom brady
Even if the Bengals had made those field goals, it wouldn't have been enough. No apologies needed for winning this game.

JK said himself he asked the coaches if he should slide down or score the TD and they all told him to go ahead and score.
Scary thing is if a flag on hail mary, td, 2 pt conv we lose, should of slid down

If only Brock Bowers
We going to beat the ravens 24-21 this is our year 12 wins I’m not saying superbowl but at least division round on playoffs on first yr rebuild
Bolt up bros⚡️
Am I the only one that’s not really missing Asante Samuel these two rookie corners can tackle lights out
Sorry fingers tired and misspells .good night happy charger fans

I dont like fish eyes Tomlin
does anyone realize we lost to KC without our starting tackles and no Derwin James and we only lost by one score so bring those queefs on
Buffalo is overrated and Josh Allen is too reckless… for example Chargers almost beat Buffalo last year with no Herbert and others
someone get money a mic
Ja Taylor is the weak link on defense our defense is elite
I'm sure he's working his tail off, but sadly, I share the same opinion. :/
Just heard his hip injury isn't fully healed
Depends how much time. 18 sec … gimme a tug
