Nose on the grindstone - basically means to keep your head down and work hard and stay on a good path. In regard to the song it plays into the idea that he is struggling with drugs, and his dad wants him to do the right things and grind hard to be a better man.
@@charlesdoca7145 He's new to me. Just now listened to "Someday On My Mind". LOVE IT! He caught the emotion so many of us are feeling post Pandemic. THANK YOU for turning me on to him....new rabbit hole to crawl down into. 💣💯🔥
@@TwinsthenewTrend “follow you to virgie” is another fantastic Tyler Childers song. It’s the only song that’s ever made me cry. It’s about his friends grandmother passing away. She meant a lot to Tyler and his friends. She was one of those absolute angels of a woman when she lived, the kind that never said a harmful word towards anyone.
"Nose on the grindstone" is basically "on the grind"'s great grandpappa- keep focused on your goals or the distractions will suck you in and keep you there.
“There’s hurt you can cause time alone cannot heal”. That line always gets me, because I’ve been on both sides of that, sucks both ways. Be gentle with people when you can, maybe they’ll do the same to you.
"Follow You to Virgie" and "White House Road." My two faves from him. Genre, he sorta splits the goalposts between country, folk, southern rock and bluegrass.
Tyler has one of those voices that you know who is singing immediately. I'm proud that Tyler is from my home state. Feathered Indians would be another great reaction song
I just wanna say I appreciate your message in the middle man. I just discovered this song and I’m going through a lot right now and it really means a lot. 🙏🏼
Yes, think positive! push on through....don't need to look too far to find somebody worse of than yourself....Let it build your strength, and find good friends and be real with them. Grateful to find you again, cheers from down under in Australia
I don't know why, but after hearing this guy's style that's really deep, reminds me of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car"!!! Great reaction, Tim. I've only heard this song once before & it's deep too!!! 😎👍🏼☮️❤️
Great review! Do some more from Tyler! He’s the best song writer in a few generations. He’s from Appalachian area where pain pills have wrecked everything (coal miners and hard working folks like that that the docs and pharmaceutical companies got a whole generation hooked on opioids) and he’s very raw and real. Glad you liked it…you like that one you’ll love the rest of his stuff too
Keep your nose on the grindstone is a phrase passed around Kentucky it just means keep working hard keep pushing we all got families to provide for and take care of and when you want to quit keep your nose on the grindstone
You know the expression "grind" like to "be on your grind"? It comes from grind stone. That's a wheel that either grinds grain to flour or another thing that sharpens metal tools. Either way it just means "work" "nose to the grind stone" means you are hunched over doing your job, that is your whole world. Sweat coming down.
I love watching you guys I don't know how I found you originally but yeah I'm pretty inspirational considering you haven't heard a lot of these songs which I don't know if you have a really happen but that's cool what I'm trying to know is what type of music do you normally listen to what will you and will not listen to I have so many songs I can recommend but they're probably out of your range of stuff you would normally listen to
So glad you found Tyler Childers! He's incredible - his newest album, A Long Violent History, is a constant rotation of mine. You might like to check out Ian Noe - his 'Appalachian Haze' is one of those songs that gets under your skin.
Keep your nose on the grind stone and out of the pills means Stay focused, eyes on the goal, work hard and don’t give in to the temptations that will keep you in the cycle. This not country, this is pure unadulterated Appalachia, you can hear the pain in his vocals. This mountain music. Pike county Tennessee
I just learned last night where the saying "keep your nose to the grindstone" comes from. Back when they used to grind flour on stone mills, there was fire danger. Clouds of flour and many other fine dusty things can ignite into a ball of fire if they get too hot. You would keep your nose to the grindstone so you could smell of it was getting too hot.
I’m quite certain that you would enjoy Chris Knight also. “It Ain’t East’s Being Me”, “Something Changed”, “Cry Lonely”, “Enough Rope”, “Saved By Love”,…..
If you like Tyler Childers, I recommend listening to his more popular songs like All Your’ n or Lady May! More on the romantic side but his vocals are killer
Lol, hey Tim, you might want to replace your battery in your smoke alarm, I heard it chirp as you were talking about the song!!! A really long time ago, I wanted to be a firefighter & I don't want anything to happen to you & Fred!!! I've got keen hearing & a nose like a German Shepherd, lol!!! I hope this isn't a cheesy message! I thought of The Ohio Players song. 😂👍🏼🔥🧑🚒🚒

Keep your nose to the grindstone basically means to stay focused. Grindstones were used to shape metal and sharped axes/knives and you had to pay close attention to not ruin your work
The grindstone is as old tool used to sharpen other tools. Keeping your face closer to the grindstone will allow you to see better the sharpening. The point of the saying is that you should keep focused on what the task is at hand, in order to accomplish it. This, combined with the message of staying out of the pills, which workers who do backbreaking work, like sharpening tools at the grindstone do in order to handle the pain better, but it ultimately destroys them, so isn't worth it. Do the work you can. Leave the rest for another day. Keep focused on what's important.
I loved your reaction video. I've never been a country fan but I recently discovered Tyler Childers and was blown away. I'd recommend you check out Honky Tonk flame. It's not political, religious or ethical, but tells a story from multiple perspectives like nothing I've ever heard before. I figure you want your reaction videos to capture the first time you hear something, but this one takes a few times to really put all the pieces together.
This whole album hits hard. If you like Tyler Childers, you might get a kick out of Colter Wall. I know that if I had a voice like his, I’d never shut up.

Yeppers, I've known it from grinding grain into flour. If it gets hot it will cause a flour explosion.
Ultimate it means to pay close attention to what you're doing and to not get complacent.
