Look, he has a long history of ankle injuries, in order to protect his ankles, he had to learn how to fall correctly after a shot if a defender is in his landing space. It's for protection. Otherwise he could end up like Kawhi Leonard. You'll see him fall like that every time he takes a three with someone in his space. He just doesn't want anyone to step on his ankles, when he used to foul bait, he wouldn't do it by falling
