    Really contemplating the Dreamcast component cables, but still wanting to wait out for the HD Retrovision cables.

    If you do make a deep dive on MemCard Pro 2, It'd be cool if you included a section on how OPL can already create VMUs and store them on the console's hard drive (if it has one installed) and compare the advantages/disadvantages of going that route.

      I was using OPL to do virtual memory cards, same with my Wii booting GC isos and even PS1 on Mister. All per game vmy style with no complaints.
      I thought it was convenient, and then I finally got all three mem card pros.
      I don’t know about any other real benefits but I absolutely love how simple it is now for me to have my virtual memory cards on a real memory card for if I ever play the games on non modded systems and original hardware vanilla style.
      For example I used some cheat codes for FFIX on my mister with the memcard pros plugged in through the snac adapter, and when I switched to my real PlayStation I popped in the disc it was so seamless and perfect since I had the Memcard Pro.

    Got my hands on those RGC Dreamcast component cables back in February. Excellent decision, though pretty pricey haha.

Also on arcade projects is the preorders for the final run of the cps3 ultra simms by darksoft. Also Bob very very sad news about the author of groovymister Sergi Clara (psakhis). Bought my Dreamcast component cable a couple weeks ago and WOW I can never go back to s-video & scart, so good! (Note my scart cable did NOT support 480p, only 480i)

    Wasn't a topic of this roundup, but whatever happened with the MARS project?

    • @nickxcom
      @nickxcom 7 дней назад +5

      Vaporware so far, and the people involved in the project are rude, weird and abrasive so it's tough to cover them positively, unfortunately lol

      It's getting tricky to cover the project when the team attacks anyone who talks about it.

      Having Mike Chi's name on the project is literally the only reason why Bob is not going speculate or shine any light about the negativity of MARS.

    Thank you Bob, Wednesday's are my favorite day of the week, BECAUSE of the roundup!
    Just out of curiosity..I can't remember where I read about it, but. Is there any truth to HD Retrovision releasing their version of component cable for the Dreamcast soon?

    Bob, I think my original childhood NES had the expansion port on the bottom exposed out of the box. I remember taking the “dust cover” off as a kid because I was curious and seeing the connector. Might be why a lot of consoles you’ve seen have it exposed.

    That plastic tab is intentionally perforated just like those action figure plastic pieces you're meant to break out of the way. Nintendo obviously meant for that to be broken away, since that's literally the only way to get to the expansion port on the bottom. I consider that one of the most acceptable "case mods" around. Then again, I also consider it entirely acceptable to use flush cutters on the tabs inside the SNES cartridge slot, which is definitely not intended, because it's hidden out of sight and when done right, still looks nice anyway. Also, I used flush cutters and followed up with a metal square file on my Sega 32X to make the cartridge slot squared to fit all region's cartridges. I find that one acceptable because I managed to do so in a way that looks professional and nice, and the cartridge flaps extend under the part I'm cutting away so it's still "intact", unlike the flaps for the main Genesis itself.
    I mean, I'm generally very much in favor of "no cut" system mods, but if something's physically obstructing my use of multi region games and addons, I'm going to look into clean professional looking "cuts" if at all possible.

    The ITX-Lama is just about the perfect legacy PC that I've been waiting for, would have been cool if the CPU was closer to 500Mhz, and it had 256-384MB RAM, as 128MB is just about the cusp of being enough for Win98Se, the OGXB can't run 98 for instance due to only having 64MB RAM, and the 128MB mod only just about gets it working, 256MB is kind of the minimum, and late 90s games need 256-384MB ideally, also someone has developed FPGA Voodoo GPU's all the way to a Voodoo 5 6000 (which is 1000 bucks in case you're wondering lol, but a Voodoo 3DFX 64MB FPGA card would be much cheaper), which could pair perfectly with this board, the audio specs are immaculate though, everything is spot on, real OPL3, wavetable header for MIDI and MT32-Pi support for modern sounfonts, this could be amazing for 8/16-Bit realchip audio compatible console emulation, as MiSTer isn't yet compatible with SCII realchip synthesizer chipsets like the RE:Birth audio hardware, but this should be if the CPU is fast enough to run GENS SCII Win98Se.

    MemCard Pro 2 in slot 1 and MX4SIO in slot 2. Name a more perfect pairing for the PS2.

    I have an MT-32pi already, but if the screenless option had been available back then, I would've chosen it ngl, I did feel like I was overpaying for features I didn't need back then.

    do the dreamcast component cables support 720x480? or does it squish it down to 640x480?

    • @BushidoBrownSama
      @BushidoBrownSama 4 дня назад

      Dreamcast VGA mode is a 640 by 480p window *inside* of a 720 by 480p output, transcoders like that cable can't change any of that they only translate the color system ex RGB to YPbPr

    GamesCare ypbpr has been great for me and is tiny enough to hide away making for a clean setup. I'll listen for audio clipping. I thought I heard a little clipping in the N64 mister core 007 Goldeneye opening, but that could have been my imagination (Edit: it was just my imagination. Sounds the same on real hardware and mister on a different audio output). I haven't heard any otherwise. Anyway if there is a problem and a resistor solution is found that'd be great!

    • @elvampe13
      @elvampe13 7 дней назад

      How would you describe audio clipping? I have a GamesCare component setup as well and I'm curious to know if I have this issue.

    • @natese8406
      @natese8406 7 дней назад

      @@elvampe13 Search google for an example of audio clipping. You should be able to hear that the sound is distorted (it wont sound right). In my case it was just my imagination (I updated my original comment to reflect that). I haven't noticed any audio distortion from my gamescare switch, but I usually play gamecube games with my wii, and I haven't tested an actual wii game. I'm using an older white wii.
