Hope this helps. This took me 4-5 hours. I started with a cold vehicle so I didn't loose much coolant.
Thanks for taking the time to post this! I will be doing mine next week and am now prepared for the battle but not looking forward to it.
It is mostly time consuming. Make sure you check your coolant level a few days later.
I’ve lost all respect for Toyota after seeing the difficulty in replacing a simple thermostat.
This is after removing the intake manifold to replace the 1, 3 and 5 coils and plugs.
Did you need to put something in the bottom to hold the engine when you took off the engine mount?
No. The engine is resting on the engine Mount so it won’t drop. I saw the other video where the lifted the engine. Lifting might help with removing the bracket and maybe give you more room to remove the bolts, but I didn’t do anything besides what you see.
Woh absolutely hardest way to do this. This is the what you would do to get to the water pump.
Do you have a video showing a better way? I couldn’t find anything anywhere about doing this a different way, and the one other video didn’t show any details.
I think hes thinking of the other style where there its just 2 bolts that come out from the front of the car/parallel to the belt cause the thermostat stat housing is two pieces so the tstat doesnt go into the block like this one. Still a PITA, but not nearly as bad as this one. Both designs are horrible for tstat replacement
@@jacksmith2315 I think the most horrible part about this is the amount of work required to remove 3 bolts. There is a lot of work and it’s mostly time consuming. It isn’t an extreme challenge it just requires some patience. Saves a lot of money too.
Good illustration, but vdeo too dark.. can't see the work clearly
What would you like to see in more detail? Once you’re in there you’ll recognize everything.
@@runningproblem You did great, in fact better than others, I do thank you for your effort in showing the work. It is a challenging job. Toyota wants just over $800 for this job. But I think I'll decline this job, its cumbersome and time consuming.
When you remove the upper motor mount you need to put a jack under the engine??
No. The upper mount is holding the engine from moving up.
@@runningproblem thank you so much
Yes but what year?
This was a 2017.
Too dark. Instruction not clear about the specific parts to the entire assembly.
What specific ‘parts to the entire assembly’ are you wanting Instruction on?
Agree with too dark
Thank you tho, what a PITA job
