Do indians eat oysters in their country?

Yes we do eat oysters in India, especially in the coastal areas. However we boil them , spice them up and eat. We have 100s of traditional curries , stirr fry recipe available for oysters alone. Cooking method is different for sea oyster and fresh water oysters. In India we don't eat any meat raw.. we are not used to it.

@@buggyman286 not common. However depends on the region. India being a diverse country and also with diverse culture food habits vary from region to region. While most of the Hindus are Vegetarians, many eat fish , chicken and mutton. Pork is consumed by few Hindus especially in the Southern India and eastern India. While beef is prohibited for Hindus , A fraction of them eat it since ages. However pork is considered as an unhygienic meat by most Hindus. I am from coastal Karnataka region of South western India. We mostly eat seafood and chicken. Mutton is getting famous now a days in our region however it is not a part of our traditional cusines. Pork is consumed by Christians at my place and occasionally many Hindus do taste the pork meat.

At my office campus which has some elite food chains like Star Bucks it is available for 1.5 USD per plate /serving. Fine dine restaurants charge a minimum 3 USD to 8 USD but it comes with good quantity and can be shared by 2 to 3 persons.
