      Is there a bank of audio samples for the exercises when you buy the book? I’m excited to get the book, and being able to hear what it should sound like while learning would greatly help!

    Honest to goodness, I have noticed a significant difference in my fluidity after working with the first 10-12 exercises over the last 3-4 weeks. It really works! I'm not endorsing anything. I'm just telling it as I've experienced it.

    I am just a beginning player (only two months now), but I got the book at the recommendation of Jonah Fox, and I have been studying this. It is definitely not a "How-to-Play-Harmonica Book." What I am using it for is to form a basis of how to properly breath and properly get into the rhythm of playing. I figured if I can develop these habits early on in my learning, I will be Light Years ahead of where I would be if I never read the book. Hey, if I, a disabled Vietnam vet, can learn from this book, so can you! If you are serious about playing, consider it. Cheers.

    Awesome. I would buy it if it came as an ebook for my ipad. I’m a traveller and it’s just not convenient for me to order a physical book (i’m taiwan right now). Hope it comes in a digital format soon!

    I was so frustrated about playing chords poorly, I came up with a new sound. I hope to pass along my primary technique to control intonation of chords. Be confident that the "L" embouchure is worthwhile. It takes about a month to learn. That's why no one ever tried it. Okay, say LLLLLLL and hold that position. Try to speak plainly like that. In order to say the sound without vocalizing. This is your new upper lip and your new soft pallet. You'll have no nose so breathe through your lower lip. Use the corner of your lip to grab a higher note, the other to grab a lower note. It's a consolidated embouchure tor all aspects of harmonica sounds.

    Just ordered. Still using and figuring out all you taught me through ArtistWorks and can’t wait to add these new skills. I’m getting to play blues and rock-a-billy with a house band every other Thursday. And I get to tell them I learned from the best. Just celebrated my 2nd year on the harmonica on 7/13. A heck of a ride!!

    Hi Howard, I've been playing diatonic harmonica for about 11 years now and as you can see from my channel, I have made lots of covers using 12 different keys. Does this book have lessons in overblowing and overdrawing exercises for advanced players like me? You're an amazing player and enjoy your playing.

    You know what exists absolutely no where for listening? Trio Globo's "Carnival of Souls". It's not on RUclips, it's not on Spotify... It's practically an urban legend! I just purchased the CD and it should be here Monday. If I hadn't gotten Rhythms of the Breath, I would have missed out on it.

    Wow, very cool Howard. This is my 48th year playing harmonica and I was full-time pro at age 20. At that time there were not too many players who could make a real living being a legit and respected lead instrument, rather than a "novelty" instrument....practicing 4 hrs. per day helped! Started in traditional Bluegrass Bands, then full-time in country honky-tonk, later for 10 years had a Swing Dance (rhythm section, female vocals, 1 or 2 horns w/me), Jazz, Blues, R&B Band for 10 years, then Austin for 7 yrs. as a hired player and studio sessions. I dropped out of public playing in the middle years due to working in a non-profit. I do not read music but do listen to drummers often to help improve groove, especially in funk and swing. The concept of this book looks perfect, going to buy one now!
    Thank you as always Howard for all you bring to the harmonica community for the instrument and of course the joy of music to everyone.

    Hi Howard. As I have been a fan of your style(s) of playing and your teaching for a long time I ordered your new book without hesitation. Yesterday it arrived here in germany. Now I wonder where to start. I am a Blues Player, playing a lot of twelve bar blues, but also eight and one bar blues. Also I move to Jazz-Blues progressions. Always 4/4 time. Could You please recommend the exercises in your book that are perhaps the most relevant ones for blues players like me? Thank you very much😊

    When you say only 10% of the book needs overblows or bends, does that mean 10% of the notes in each exercise? Or does that mean that 90% of the exercises can be played completely through without overblows? I don't overblow. If I can learn from 90% of the book it could be a good investment.

    • @HowardLevyland
      @HowardLevyland  2 года назад +3

      10% or less of ALL the exercises use bends; maybe 2-3% use Overblows/Overdraws. You can go through more than 90% of the book without bending or OB.
