RIP Carnival Imagination. I was onboard the imagination for a 4 Night cruise to Mexico. I had a great experience. It’s so sad to see the ship getting scrapped
@@jon99miller nope!! This boat is today in a cemetery in turkey for scrap. This boat was built in 1992. Is not financially good to repair or renovate the boat because of market value of a boat this size. Smaller boats, around 1500 gests have a market level around 15 million dollars easy to negotiate, but this one have value around 180 millions of dollars. A full renovation will cost around 230 million and have to be paid at a once. A Brand new equivalent boat costs around 450 million and can be paid in 25 to 30 years. So do the math. This explain because ships this size goes to scrap instead the market for resale. Other approach is not to foment other players in the cruise industry.
Really appreciate your ship tours as they are filmed and narrated from an authentic, real-world point of a view rather than a marketing reel which I find disjointed and doesn't capture the feel of first-person experience.
I went on this cruise ship last year to Mexico, It was so great and a wonderful experience! They make animals out of your towels when they come to clean your room! It's adorable!
I was on this ship back in 2019 before the pandemic. It was enroute from Los Angeles to Enseneda, Mexico. It was really sad to see her go. She currently resides in Aliaga ship yard in Turkey to be scrapped.
I went on the imagination when I was young and I loved it. I won the hasbro game show, I became friends with the band that was singing by the stairs and elevators, me and my sister made friend with some kids our age and we would race on the track, and we would play ping pong but we were so bad that we lost all the ping pong balls in the ocean. This ship will always be special to me
Great to see the old girl. I took a 4 night excursion on the Imagination in 2001. Carnival ran the propellers off the Imagination for years out of Miami. It became a major target for singles group agents and was nicknamed the corny Love Boat moniker. One crew member quipped to me that it was really the love 'em and leave 'em boat. No argument there. The Egyptian motif is still intact I see. This is nice medium size ship and is well outfitted. I can only say good things about it.
Ok, I’ve been discouraged about this ship, but you changed our minds. This is probably the first cruise we’re gonna take. We’ve been looking for a short cruise to MX. Thank you for sharing this and your work.
It's easy for regular cruisers to put down some of these older ships when they compare them to the latest and greatest, but some of these older ships have a certain charm that today's ships don't have. If it's your first cruise I think it's a great way to test out this whole cruising idea.
I love the Celebrity Millennium. Older ship with a 7 day cruise in Alaska. Been in her twice. The Inspiration and Imagination are fine after the refits.
Speaking of the specific word, do you remember from EPCOT the 1983 ride of "Journey Into Imagination" that starred comedian Chuck McCann as the Dreamfinder, and Billy Barty as Figment the then-playful purple and pink dragon?
I am about to take my first cruise and it's on this ship. I'm excited and a little nervous. Thank you for taking the time to show what on this ship, it really helped me.
So after contacting customer service today, I went from having a cabin without windows to one with windows. Windows was cheaper than without for a deep price drop.
Covid only advance in a year or so the Carnival Iimagination goes to scrap. She is dated boat and her financial value is too much for resale and too much to compensate another renovation. She was built in 1992. See my other comment about values.

Thanks so much Lori. Glad you found the video useful. I try to film the ship when areas of the ship are more empty so you can see the ship better. Most of it was filmed while at port in Long Beach. The pool deck was a bit crowded during the day but the chilly weather kept most out of the pool. But this meant the hot tubs were a bit full.
