Wonderful informative video. ❤ I like that you explained in detail the number of hairs when completing the eyelashes. Now I can try it on my dolls. Do you always use black hair for the eyelashes or does it vary? Thanks for your help. Kindly Lori
I love your work so thank you for sharing. Since you work with chalk pastels, I gather you have to seal them. Can you tell me if you've found a sealer that you're confident doesn't yellow with age? Do you even have restored dolls old enough to be a good test of aged product? I come from the world of early "reborn" dolls so I'm very afraid of paint that looks good now but ends up completely destroying the doll in 10 years.
I use mr super clear flat/matte. I have dolls from almost 10 years ago without yellowing. The trick is to not over do it. I spray a nice shear coat and that's it. Idk anything about the reborn dolls or the vinyl/plastic that is used. I could be completely different. You could always add a little bit of poly(varnish) to your paint which would seal just the areas you're painting. I do that as well. Adding poly(varnish) to you paint makes the paint dry kindof fast so be ready to paint asap when you mix it.. hope this helps :)
@@tinytinkerbell565 Yes. It does help a lot! I was suffering from a lack of product confidence because of past experience. In early reborning, we painted on the inside of the dolls with various products. The result was an amazingly natural looking veining than shone trough the translucent skin...... until a couple of years later when the blues and purples migrated through the vinyl producing what looked like huge bruises and a purple undertone that replicated what can only be described as "aged cadaver". Lucky for me, I hadn't sold any of my experiments but I did keep a couple Those babies are now so horrifying to look at that they completely freak out most adults when I use them at Halloween parties.
Fabulous job April! 😍 Question: after you paint the head to match the reroot hair, do you use another product over it to prevent paint flaking? My apologies if you already mentioned it and I missed it 😅
I will be posting again soon. I've had a snowball effect of things delaying my new videos. Thank you so much for thinking of me, it certainly makes me smile :) Hope you're having a wonderful holiday season.
The hair on her left side underneath was all mostly gone. I should’ve showed it more. If you go back to the beginning of the video and look good you can see a little of it. I only restore dolls that would need to be rerooted or restored to save. I love Francie she’s my favorite. If she didn’t need new hair I would never reroot her. If she was only missing a few plugs I would use a donor doll to repair but this doll was missing a severe amount of plugs. 😊
Francie is super gorgeous! love her rainbow hair. Excellent workmanship.
Thank you :)

Her theme song is definitely sunshine superman by Donovan 😊
I use a whisker from my cat attached to a skewer to paint the eyebrows 😂 it works well if you lack a teeny tiny brush

It varies.. I use shades of brown and sometimes black for the eyelashes :)

Good job, but the doll you used was in pretty good shape, from what I can tell. I would have used one in very bad condition.
