Here we go again with the childhood BS. I spent most of my childhood in the state's care - horrible parents - both dead and I've never had ANY trouble with the law. Never been arrested - never been to jail. That's the case for most of those who had "bad" childhoods. Grow up people.
You can’t be serious….just because you’re strong enough to not let your bad childhood affect you or your future, that’s not the norm. Things like abus3 and n3glect have horrific effects on people and statistics prove that. And it’s not an issue of being weak, brain chemistry can literally be altered from trauma.

But I will say dude grew up in a horrible situation and a lot of black and white men like me who grew up with drug addicts and violence in the home have no idea how hard it is not to continue the cycle. I committed many of felony and was facing 10 years of prison. I screwed my life up and have had to crawl my way out. It was my own doing but still the childhood means so much. Stop casting judgement and put yourself in their shoes. It’s not easy to do the right thing when you never saw anyone do it as a child

Having this guy home alone with the 13 year old daughter is terrifying!!! It’s not legal to require an employee to work more than 40 hours a week- she works 60! She should not be away from her daughter at this critical time. In 4 -5 short years you can work all you want she will be 18 and able to protect herself
Unfortunately that isn't always possible to work less especially with a single income in the house. I applaud her for working that much at least she isn't sitting at home getting government assistance.
That's what you get in a "right to work" state like Texas; they can and will fire you at any time for any reason they want without notice. They also don't generally pay very well there.
It's very legal for an employer to set hours for employees. As long as they're paid for the hours they work, that's all that the law requires.
Overtime is generally any hours physically worked over 40 in a workweek.
As long as the employee is not exempt from overtime, they should be paid.
Check with the US Department of Labor or your State Wage & Hour office regarding your status for overtime.
Many people work 60 a hours week to simply pay bills, rent, groceries, clothes, vehicle insurance and payments aren't affordable.
Poverty is the worst form of violence. Alot of the labor jobs are 12 hour jobs
