Great advice! I'm also finding that the more frequently I practice (even if the duration is short), means I don't feel like each lesson is starting from scratch. Rather it's a continuation of yesterday's practice (with recovery for my fingers) 😊
Lots to think about! I can feel my hands get tense, but I haven’t yet figured out how to release the tension while playing (e.g., in the middle of a piece in a concert band when I can’t stop) 👋
The more consistently you are able to find ease in the practice room, the better chance you have in higher pressure situations. Also, some days are just harder than others and that’s okay too. 👋
Hi Lance, I am just starting to learn flute. I have got my first flute from another student and I want to check it to be sure it's me failing to produce that tone, not the instrument. Could you please suggest a testing procedure to ensure the flute is in good working condition?
Hello! It would be difficult for you to determine on your own if the flute is not working properly. The best thing would be to take it to a repair tech. Most techs can assess in a matter of minutes the playing condition. If the flute is more than a year old, I would recommend getting the headjoint cork changed at the minimum. Check out this video on how to test it: ruclips.net/video/qD_YwDUaeCI/видео.htmlsi=AYWNbM7ek8cJNaNF Happy practicing!

I completely agree! Consistency is key! 😊
Finally, you posted something new
Yes! The past few months have very busy, performance-wise so I haven’t had a lot of time to film and edit. Happy New Year!
