It's not that there are no IP addresses involved. It's just that no IP address is needed to find content. However, once you locate content, an ordinary TCP/IP connection is made to retrieve it. At that point, you can be identified as the other end can see your IP address. You could obscure your IP address by routing everything through Tor.
