Every mechanic has been around at least one machine like this. Despite the roar of gearboxes and the howling bearings long worn, not just out, but away, and that machine just won't quit, no matter what you do to it.
So they have come, deem we were nothing, and destroy use to mine our world to nothing. Yeah... I can see human going crazy and ghosted demon after something like that. Thanks for the narration of this pretty good story ❤
Reminds me of the story where there were a type of highly maneuverable fighter craft. It was discovered that these seemingly impossible crafts were piloted by humans with not only a neural link to the craft, but all of the moisture is drained out of their bodies into the ship, leaving their bodies stiff and hardy without the drawbacks of fluids sloshing about during maneuvers.
do have to say i loved the little detail of ''centuries long repair/re-arm etc process'' and suggestive ''necromancy/haunting/clinical immortality +hibernation through cybernetic enhancements'' part , all to often you have scifi that forgets the time spans or distances in space , while at the same time forgetting how low power cost it be at x tech point to slap some small but sturdy material processing/repair hardware on even interceptor size ships , that could gnaw on astroids or scraps in energy efficient ways over longer time periods that even allow capacitor recharge from solar radiation harvesting at the same time , and a astroid belt or such be a excellent place to 'lurk' having both material at hand and 'woods' to break up any search efforts , and be mistaken as just another piece of inert material in
After all these centuries. It's machine spirit still screams.
Spite is one of the most powerful fuels for a human to just refuse to pass. I feel sorry for what ever pathetic creature passes that ships sight

You may have killed us, but you will never profit from having done so. From our grave we spit our hatred of you and force you to join us.

I'm picturing a pilot that looks like the model for an Iron Maiden album cover. Maybe Aces High.
Judas Priest, Killing Machine.
Revenge is a dish best served cold. It is very cold in the grave.....
I was getting Heavy Metal vibes from this one! Way cool! WITH ENERGY!!
Ah you heard the music being used as a jamming signal.
Love ghost ship stories! It's a total bonus that this one has a soundtrack that I'd ABSOLUTELY listen to.
I really liked this one. I enjoy a good haunted ship story.
For the Algorithm! May it forever favour you!
For the Algorithm ,For the Author(s), For the Disembodied voice! For the Squirrel 🐿
The machine spirit is full of glorious wrath and terrible life.
I loved the idea it was self repairing, and getting fuel, weapons from those it destroyed. A semi cryogenic sleep between battles.
"From hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee."
❤ love your narration and your style; always look for your stories.
someone should make a short film of this! (and many other ASN narrated stories!!)
Isn't this just Ghost Rider driving a spaceship?!
Awesome story!
Why am I hoping that hidden deep in the astroid field, the human race survives.
Ghost in the machine.
