    • @shanshares5682

      It's not hard on them. Mares are literally born to foal. In the wild herds, they are usually bred every year. If she's got a decrease in soundness, an aging mare or if a pregnancy is particularly difficult she may rest them.

    I have a question for you don't you have wait for the baby horse to grow up to pregnant the horse again and I'm new on your channel

    • @lord0jackostar
      @lord0jackostar 5 месяцев назад +2

      In the wild, mares would be pregnant as soon as the foal is on the ground, simply because that’s when they go back into heat. Most mares will be fine with repeated pregnancies and, providing the feed is available and sufficient, a mare can support both a pregnancy and a foal reasonably well until the first one is weaned sometime around 6 months old. Once the foal is weaned, they don’t have that much to do with their mother outside of normal herd interactions; horses don’t really do an extended family connection in the way you’re describing. Herd mates are similar, but thats not really based on biological connections so much as it is area specific or temperament compatibility. Similarly, weanlings and yearlings can breed from their first heat, whether they are physically ready or not. Breeders won’t usually breed a young mare at her first heat, for the same reason we don’t recommend teenage humans get pregnant before their late teens; but animals don’t really think like that.
      Health issues can cause problems with repeated pregnancies, like Beyoncé’s current leg problems; which is when horse breeders will give the mare some time; but that’s purely from an animal welfare standpoint, not necessarily a natural outcome without intervention. In the wild, they would breed regardless. Same with inbreeding and close genetics, breeders will keep track and not breed close relatives; a stallion will breed the mares in heat in his vicinity, including his mother, sisters, and daughters if he’s controlled a herd for long enough.
