While the English name of this song is "Darkness," the Chinese title is 《一念无明》A Thought of Ignorance (lit). In general terms, "一念无明" can be considered a state of confusion and uncertainty, often associated with the Buddhist concept of "dukkha" or suffering. The entire song is characterized by this gloomy atmosphere, and the line that best captures this mood is "Living in such a dark and gloomy world, happiness is so despicable, but I still won't let the light shine."
The Chinese line 思念只是遗忘的缓冲 can be translated in various ways. The poetic translation "Thoughts are just a balm for oblivion" implies that thoughts offer temporary relief from forgetting, while the more literal translation "Memories only slow down the force of oblivion" conveys the idea that memories can delay or impede the process of forgetting, but they cannot stop it altogether.
