Never going to use a mac but good to know the knowledge cheers for the short n sweet vid although for a couple of mins faster personally I'd stay with the m1 and enjoy a few extra beer gulps lol da vinci is awesome so many options to make editing smoother so since you know what your doing that difference am sure you could squeeze back with tweaking a few settings etc.

the upside of macs, of course, is that their keyboards come with punctuation as standard

I think one the big differences is the m2 has the built in media encoder you used to only get on the M1 Pro chips for compatible video codecs. I don’t video edit though I do use M1 Pro laptop so this is just off my head.

When encoding 1080p then you are supposed to use H.264. But on EVERYTHING else with a higher resolution you are supposed to use H.265. In some scenarioes H.265 will encode faster than H.264.

Render time in M1 is 12'06" and M2 in 10'25". That´s a 13,91% invrease in performance in this test.

Im curious of knowing a test of actual workflow. Although its nice, 14%, or whatever it scales to on larger projects, isnt still enough to call it an upgrade for just RENDERING alone. I need to see
scrolling through the timeline with edits and cuts and color adjustments and fusion effects and several different sources per clip etc. the M1 base takes an absolute shyte in these scenarios, and active editing in that lag fiesta is no fun.

What if you simply prefer the looks of the M2 over the older model? [joke]

for 2 seconds the difference is funny! who owns m1 there is no reason to go to m2 better to wait for m3 or M4!
