Many of you don't know that Podgorica was bombed 75 times in one day during WW2, leaving town almost wiped out. The bridge you cross at 6.33 was built during Ancient Rome, and reconstructed in XVIII century. There are places you can visit in Podgorica, even though not so much like in other capitals of Europe and world, but we people from Podgorica love her so much and the most important thing is that Podgorica, our Old Lady will always rise from ashes like she always do.
I'm so glad you liked Podgorica and that you didn't find it boring, like some other foreigners do (and many local people, sadly). It's absolutely my favourite city in the world . Fun fact: It's also the city with the highest temperatures in Montenegro.
Yes, you are right, but it's not a fun fact, it's a sad fact, because the local corrupt government cut down a lot of trees and bushes to get a lot of free spaces that they sold or leased, of course the vacant spaces have been concreted and now in the summer the city looks like a hot pipe when 20 years ago when the trees and bushes were much larger, the climate was cooler, even though the temperature was the same or even higher.
I grew up on the Albanian side of the border which is very near this city. As a kid under communist isolation i would always wonder about this city and would look in the distance across the lake into montenegro. Couple years ago i went home to Albania and i entered through Montenegro border. Best part was crossing the border into Albania from Montenegro, during communism that border area was full of military and solders and we would never even be allowed to come near the border. Seems like a 100 years ago,lol I remember late 80s the fighter jets from montenegro would do their training flights in the border over the lake basically on top of us making lots of noice for us but we kids loved and kept staring up every afternoon.
Prelijepa Podgorica. Voljela bih tamo zivjeti, jednostavno se preopusteno osjecam i imaju ekstra dobru vibru. Njihov naglasak i humor su za duzi i kvalitetniji zivot ❤ Obozavam crnogorce iako nisu nesto bas sa bosancima na valnoj duzini 😂😂
Well, Podgorica is kind of a city that is currently going through a rapid development. A lot of foreigners find it boring which is true to some extent, but in general it is a city with a lot of young people, a university center of Montenegro, has a really nice cuisine, and only one correction: Just today I was watching the news when a guy from statistics bureau came on TV and said that Podgorica currently has about 280.000+ people. Its true because migrations from north of Montenegro to Podgorica are really high. Anyway, glad you enjoyed Podgorica, stay cool guys and come back sometime to Montenegro! Lijep pozdrav :)
280k people in Podgorica? Why stop there? Let's say 500 000... What a megalomaniac -.- The city itself is home to 150k inhabitants, while the whole municipality that comprises almost 1 500 km2, many villages, settlements located as far as 40 km from the city itself has 188k (2019) according to the statistical office. That's only 125 people/sqkm. What's the point of exaggerating? I really don't get it, it's ridiculous and very easily debunked.
@@dannyjulie4574 Why on earth would anyone exaggerate? The guy from Monstat which is a statistics bureau said that theres 307.000 health ID cards in the city which is true. They just can't follow up on everything and the migration pace from other parts of Montenegro especially the north is as high as possible as well from the neighboring countries such as Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina, as well as from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine. The current data from October 2021 state that about 320.000 people live in Podgorica which is completely true since I'm of of those ppl who migrated. Not only ppl are migrating but young and fresh university graduates stay in this city because it is very lively, the job offerings are extremely good, plus it has a great and vibrant nightlife. The city is becoming more and more modern with new boulevards, parks, et cetera that are being bulit as we speak. So I don't need no stupid ass Wikipedia data because I live here and I see it and feel it with my own 👀

Capital cities with almost no landmarks (Podgorica, Chisinau, Sarajevo, Tbilisi etc...) show us how countries that were once powerful were stripped of some of their provinces. And if you dive deeper and research their history, it’s almost 100% because of a foreign aggression, military or political. Then how in the world is prosciutto and bruschette traditionally Montenegrin?? I think the restaurant staff told you a lie :))
Was there on 24 June, Sunday. The Millenium Bridge, the Cathedral and some parks are ok. The rest, I have to say, for me, it's a big no. Besides that, Montenegro needs to sort the problem of garbage.
We would have to agree. There isn't a whole ton to do in Podgorica. We did check out Lake Skadar which we loved, but other than that we would probably recommend Kotor.

Try looking for some Walk-around videos, or city walks on RUclips. You will get the idea of infrastructure and other stuff.

I have seen some videos of that city and I find it strange that there are always few people on the streets.
