I always knew Wagner had a large presense in Africa, but I had no clue it was this wide and this entrenched. Honestly, this helps explain why Prigozhin survived (well... so far...) his little coup attempt; his little operation is much too important for the Russian Federation, especially as being able to avoid sanctions (with blood gold and diamonds) is top priority. I'm curious to see how this all pans out.

However, his exile to Belarus and falling out with Putin has complicated his life significantly as well as Russian operations in Africa. Who controls African operations there? Putin or Prigozhin? Prigozhin has a few options. He can:
    1) Stay in Belarus in exile and eventually be assassinated by Putin's forces or simply die there.
    2) Go to Africa/Latam to a place of safety and engage in operations there successfully where he has more support.
Edit: this is a scenario analysis based on what Prigozhin's options are and the type of person he is. I don't believe he would just give up so easily without a fight against Putin. His extensive operations in Africa show what he is truly capable of.

Small correction, though its more about your sentence being too ambiguous : Niger's uranium does not power 3 out of 4 lightbulbs in france. Niger is not even the first supplier for France, i believe its the third, at some 17% of the uranium imports annually. Kazakhstan would be first. I think the problem is that what you mean is that nuclear power is over 3/4 of france's power supply, and that Niger's uranium significantly contributes to it. So yes, its an important country in terms of interests to france, but not nearly as critical as your sentence can make it sound.

As an attentive viewer of many geopolitical/geostrategic channels on youtube, I knew that this was going on, but really: It baffles me that we are not informed in mass media about that. We only heard about how Wagner mercs are in Mali. We dont hear about the reasons why european troops pulled out of the country. My coworkers and friends are looking at me strange when I tell them about the Marocco-Algeria conflict for example. Wagner/Russia and China only have so much support in Africa because western powers neglected and exploited the continent for so long. And it is still going on. Wagner is also exploiting, but they are supporting war criminals as well. Each major power is involved in each ellection or in each power struggle.

0:06 Note: Italy and Spain are cruciai in this as well. Sahel represents an important point for their future in many ways. Particularly, Italy has been able to help locals without being seen as a colonial power because it mainly does police training work thanks to their Carabinieri military force, which is a gendarmerie police force like no other in the world: they’re highly specialized in terror prevention and violence neutralization in civilian areas. Their expertise has been incredibly helpful for the development of Kosovo, Lebanon and Iraq and Italy is now using this force to help Sahel countries and win the local’s favor. In 1993 Somalia, the Italian Carabinieri have used the intel skills that they had gained through wars on Mafia and domestic terror in the 70s and 80s, and have carried out bloodless captures of pirate bosses, African mafiosi and merciless genocidal war lords. In 4:06 you can see Carabinieri equipment that is usually utilized in Italy and Kosovo. In these cases too, Italy has gained respect from the local population: other powers would just send uneducated/unspecialized infrantry with some intelligence and some special units, then big airstrikes and drone bombing without care, while Italy just sent small units of highly specialized personnel. The results have been that the local population felt treated with respect and the Italian population didn’t have huge losses (3 deaths during the Checkpoint Pasta ambush, which was an ambush in an abandoned Barilla factory in Mogadishu). Contrary to France and Spain, Italy is not seen as a neocolonial power because it does not have a claim on uranium or anything to do with their central banks. Italian politicians are currently in a stale state with France because of this: some of them have publicly accused France of fomenting a neocolonial strategy. This has obviously had a very positive reaction on the locals, but has naturally decreased the quality of bilateral relationship with France, with whom Italy is carrying out operations in the Sahel. The only problem I see with Italy is that Eni and AGIP have ambiguous positions on African matters and do have some cases of exploitation of raw materials which damage the local population. If Italy was able to manage the last remnants of pollution in Africa by Italian companies (which Eni and Agip are actually doing through green transition programs, so props to them), and Italian politics went back to more stability than the last 10 years (which it’s happening through the new Meloni government, thanks to more openness and stability in foreign politics), I think Europe could score some goals in Africa while also benefiting African economies and living standards. The key is simple, in my opinion: treat Africans like peers, negotiate with them, help them in their needs, prevent coups and terror from happening. If you only think about what’s in it for you, Africans will always smell colonialism. If you instead focus on how you can actually help Sahel, Sahel will see you favorably, because they too want high standards of living and peaceful life.

      No one moved on Moscow.
      It was just theatre.
Putin wasn't just KGB, he was the head of KGB.
      The whole event was staged.
Slight of hand tricks. Deceptions & diversionary tactics was his playbook throughout his KGB career.
Keep your audience looking at the wrong hand whilst the other hand pulls the deception.
The events of the last 24 hours were just that.
Cooked up by Putin & Prigozhin. Nothing more.
      Its worked.
The Nato intelligence services and Ukrainian planners plus the western press have all wasted many man hours in the last 24 hours assessing nothing more than a staged operation where nothing actually changed for the actors involved on the Russian side.
Behind the scenes, away from those watching, something has occurred.
At the very least, Russia has changed the mood in Ukrainian planning. Perhaps given them a false sense of confidence. A false optimism.
      A dangerous mindset in warfare.
This is an ancient tactic of warfare.
Convince your enemy you are weak when you are strong.
But a much greater deception on the ground has possibly occurred.
Troop redeployment into Belarus for one. Possibly to open up a second front against Ukraine.
Secondly, a reason to put Russia itself on a heightened security footing which can now tackle the freedom for Russia fighters by all means necessary.
If Putin now uses airstrikes within his own borders to wipe out FFR fighters crossing the border and hits a few Russian civilians, (collateral damage) the civilian population is now primed to believe and accept that its for the good of Russia to stop insurrections, Mutiny's and uprisings.
Which leads to another rule in the KGB playbook.
Never allow a crisis to go to waste.
      Chaos brings benefits.
If you manufacture one, more the better.
Considering an armed militia entered Russia with the stated intention of entering Moscow, it was a very peaceful operation.
Ive seen more violent clashes at a just stop oil protest.
The western press have convinced much of its viewers that Putin is somehow weakened, that their is great division in the Russian hierarchy.
If Russias next move is successful its going to create a far greater mood of disbelief, depression & uncertainty for everyone allied to Ukraine.
Lastly, Prigozhin is a great actor. Constantly appearing on social media biting the hand that feeds him with staged rants about poor supply of equipment etc.
The harder he paints his predicament/hardships the greater he raises his achievements.
      Its an Ego trip.
He was the perfect primer for this staged event to be swallowed up by the global press.
      The whole exercise was staged.
