- Testing out a South Korean MRE (Meal Ready to Eat), Survival Meal, which I found at the local Korean Supermarket. I shot this video while camping with my Son at a local river. It looks amazing and cost $5. While it only had a shelf life of 1 Year I suspect it would be good for significantly longer. It came with the rice meal, sesame oil and spicy sauce inside along with a spoon also. Compared to real Korean dish of Mixed Rice of 비빔밥 I would give it a 6/10 but as far as a survival meal goes probably more a 8/10 because it tasted very good and was not full of many chemicals.
That sure does look delicious.
Thinking I might be trying to source something like that here.
Thanks for sharing
Cheers & atb
thanks yeah I have one left if you wanted it? It is ok for survival food for sure. tad spicy though but if you like spice you would like this. Thanks and Atb also..

Was looking for some vids of people eating these for research for an upcoming vid. You should make more of these you're a real good reviewer. Too bad those don't come with the little kimchi packets. Cheers

kdu0048 그래요? 혹시 저 인터냇으로 돈 보내면 한국MRE 몇게 뉴질렌드로 보낼수 있습니까?
Looks nice man, I will have to look around here for some
if you like spicy food (not that i find it all that spicy) then let me know and ill send you a couple to try out?
Great video Phil.
The meal looked really good. I recently had a Aussie 24 hour rat pack. MRE / Rat packs are great for outing.. Cool to hear about you'r Korean experiences.. Id love to visit one day arounf the country side and visit Seoul.. Of you have time check out Kiwi Dude. He's a NZ bloke who does MRE and rat pack reviews he has some great vids.. Kinda thought it might of been you'r second channel.. Really bad with recognising different NZ accents lol..
Loving the videos from you 2 keep the great vids up.
Cheers
thanks very much, i checked out and subbed Kiwi Dude. Hes got soem good looking mre's there.... wouldnt mind trying a few out myself. I have had a few bits and bobs from NZ Army ration packs as they tend to leave them behind in huts when they do exercises in case someone gets stuck at a hut. I thought NZ was like Switzerland, Neutral and without accents? ahaha nah some of us have them really thick especially from down south and some of us have barely an accent. many people say I have picked up a bit of an Australian twang from my 4 years there but i am not sure.... thanks for your support my friend -Phil
Looks great my friend, but I don't think they sell them over here in Scotland. We do get dehydrated meals, but I've not seen that kind. Atb Glenn.
Glenn..more than happy to grab a couple and send them over to you if you would like...they are quite tasty..just let me.know..regards phil
***** Thanks' for the offer Phil, I'll have a look round some of the Asian store here and if I can't find them over here I might just take you up on your offer. Atb Glenn.
thanks for the great review. May I ask where did you buy it? I live in Korea Town Los Angeles. I can't not find this anywhere in my area.
hi there thanks for the kind words I bought it here in New Zealand at a local Korean supermarket but they can be purchased much cheaper off line and in bulk and sent anywhere in the world.
What area in Nz? Auckland?
I don't think people use that anymore. Now, I think people use already cooked food and heat it up like the U.S. Mre
Survive the outdoors STO Hi there thanks for the comments, very true, I believe they now eat much the same as the US MRE systems, I am trying to get some out of South Korea or elsewhere to be able to look at and review but thus far no luck, Korea actually has vert strick rules regarding their military product. This one is very much a camping / outdoors sort of MRE I guess and not a hugh calorie count. Regards Phil
Worth the weight to carry around in a bugout bag ?
That's a interesting question. It depends on your bug out strategy and the reasons you are taking off.. The general advice from an Australian SES perspective would be to have food that does not require any or little prep.Often canned food is advised as you can eat it cold and does not need re-hydration. This would be the consideration if going to a government controlled evac center. If you are planning to bug out on foot I would go with dehydrated food and carry extra water. I would also be carrying some form of water purification system as well and have water sources pre planned. It all depends if you are prepping for a pandemic, hostile government take over or some form of weather or other natural disaster.
sauce have to put last
아 그래요 몰랐어요... 이런걸 먹어 봤어요?
Are the MRE's only 500 calories?
Hi yes this one is but in saying that this would only.be a part of the food you would consume, this is more of an individual meal than a whole days worth etc but yes low calories
To bad. 500calories is not much fr one meal :(
In the military you need like 3000 or 4000 calories a day or even if your doing some hiking. I need some good MRE's for hiking. Got any idea for good ones?
