There aren't many bigger jets for us to have to fit in with to be honest so never been asked to do that. Reminds me though I should practice doing some bad weather circuits which are similar to what you describe there. I haven't side slipped a plane outside of a lesson yet but I know what you mean you do lose height like there's no tomorrow haha!
ya gonna have to take her up on a early am or late evening clear blue calm no turb day once again.. i bet she'll go w u just a lil persuading.. shes a good catch.. 🍀 lucky 🍀 man
was this very 1st time yur gf go up in small ga plane ? too bad it was so overcast day.. no blue sky.. hard to see anything good esp for brand new pax.. actually feels looks darker when under such low overcast days.. sun cant get thru..even tho might be vfr technically. They don't know or have a clue when get in cockpit go up 1st time for sure very good excellent vid and pics and canera angles Excellent ut vid good luck Do more.. fly safe
Yeah weather wasn't great so that was a short sight on my part.. Could have chosen a better day for her first flight haha!! Thank you for the kind words, glad you enjoyed!! Stay tuned for more!!
lots Qs.. omg she says No! so fast.. so Why she not go up again ? bc of You or yur flying or just not like small planes ? she get airsick or close to ot ?
new sub here in US so not know any UK stuff or Eu flying stuff..only US FAA . How many TT hrs u got then and now ? How long years u been pilot ? Are u Ppl Private or got Instr rating or comm lic what ? That is a Piper Warrior II PA28-161 ? right? ? is it rental or u own it ?
Thank you for subbing!! Other than being expensive and having interesting weather, the UK is amazing for flying! I've just clocked over 113 hours total now and got my private pilot license last year. I may do my instrument rating later on but no plans just yet. I know it's a good idea though. Yeah that's it! PA28-161. Great nipper and yeah I hire it for £200/hour. I want to buy my own in the next couple of years. Stay tuned haha! Thanks for your comments :)
Well done and my wife isn't the best passenger in a GA aeroplane either and she has been solo in a C152 (25 years ago) as NATS gave them 15 hours of free flight training during the initial training course (ATCO). I can usually coerce her into the aeroplane on promise of lunch at Glenforsa, but needs to be a nice calm day where she can see the horizon rather well and needs good cool airflow from the vents (she isn't the best passenger in the car either if she isn't looking out). Normally she does the radio to keep her mind occupied. A suggestion is to describe to Chloe an aeroplane is like a piece of cork in water. Just like cork in water (fluid) bobs up and down with the waves, an aeroplane bobs up and down in the air (also a fluid). The only difference is we can control the aeroplane and direct it the way we want it to go... suggestion would be to pick a more ideal day with not a cloud in the sky, a nice crisp clear winters day provides some of the best flying weather we can have but of course you need to be flexible on dates.
Thanks! This is really interesting actually because Chloe has said she is very keen to do a lesson for a number of reasons and I think it would do only good for our flying together. More air time, better idea of what is going on and why we do things along with everything else. Yeah good idea, I'll pass that on, thanks for the comment 😀
When i brought my wife up, I waited for perfect conditions. Less than 10 knots aloft. Clear skies, no fronts nearby, and fly first thing in the morning or 1 hour before sunset. Her first flight was 30 minutes in the air and we built up time in air on subsequent flights before we had a destination in mind.
Well done. Chloe, I would suggest giving it another go, on a beautiful day with few clouds and less wind. You might begin to enjoy it up there and your boyfriend will really appreciate you joining him. Lots of great destination by air, something you can look forward to. Deal?
Thanks Marty! Solid words, I'll be sure to pass them on as it would be lovely to get some amazing trips done by air as you say! Do you fly with a significant other?
@@RoutesAbove Yes, for many years. I have a Beech Bonanza and we have traveled extensively in it. Many day trips and a few long journeys. I hope Chloe agrees to give it another go. Good luck and happy flying!
Amazing, that is my absolute goal to do exactly that! Yeah she'll come up again.. I hope.. stay tuned to see what happens haha! Assuming you are based in the states? Lovely plane.
My wife on her first flight with me said she wouldn’t go back up. But here we are years later and she loves going. My pilot friends are jealous. I tell my passengers, as part of the brief, to let me do the talking when we’re departing and landing, then I remind them again.
Think you just choose the wrong day. My GF is a nervous type so I took her up on a cloud free calm day over to the IOW. Once airborne the views become more important than the fact she was at 2000 ft with a not much below her. I also got her doing the frequency changes and Squak to distract her. We have now gone as far as Bournemouth to Duxford together and she is the one that asks to go however she is not keen on turbulence so I plan flights on flat cloudless sky days or evenings. That said she still wont let me do a PFL or Stall so I have to practice them on my own or with other people onboard :-) Its work in progress but i can see her doing trips over the channel next year with me assuming I can get a share in a plane soon.
Yeah I think you are right, I’ll let the dust settle and when there’s another lovely day then I’ll get her onboard again. Sounds like you’ve conquered it, need to take a leaf out of your book! I can’t think of anything I want to do more than go on holidays in the bird!
@@RoutesAbove I have taken a few first timers up now young and old and think I am lucky that the air is smooth over/from the sea. The only times I have had PAX look nervous is turbulence or the other one is when I do a bank over the Needles or Corfe Castle for them to take a pic. I have another idea, give her a few drinks first, I noticed Teri (my Mrs) was a lot more calm on the way back from Bembridge after a few G&T's in the Propeller inn than she was on the way out :-)
Hahah good idea, just get some Dutch courage in ‘em. I’ve taken other fiends up as first timers and yeah they were better but so was the weather.. we learn. Happy flying my friend!
This is mild. A few years ago I took my oldest son (at the time 35) and my daughter (at the time 40) up for a quick flight over Lake Tahoe. Both in the back seat. Neither had been up before and had been badgering me for this flight for a couple of years. Finally, a clear, calm, sunny day we left the runway at about 10am. The takeoff roll was perfect and I heard my daughter laughing, "wow, dad this is so much fun". About five minutes later while still ascending to clear the mountains south of the airport my daughter started to scream, cry and grab me from behind demanding to turn back and land. My son had to get her arms down and off of me and hold her until I could get clearance to turn back and land. I owe my son a flight, my daughter will stay on the ground for the rest of her life, apparently (I don't know how she makes commercial flights).
that was pretty smooth lndng ..saw no bounce...
very good
Thank you my friend, lots of practice

Oh god mine is mild compared to that!! That sounded like it came out of the blue given how it started off! Glad you got back safely!
Well done Chloe, not sure I would even be that calm......I'm a terrible passenger 🙈
Has she flown with you again since this?
She did fly with me since then so I'll count that as a winner!!
It only really a bad bounce if you get charged two landing fees.
haha yes true
