I normally wear 40-42mm watches but this in 44 doesn't bother me one bit. It wears comfortably and is high legible given my aging eyes. It is my current favorite piece. The bracelet is great as is the OEM alligator with deployant but I wear it mostly with a custom olive ostrich strap.
Wow! I already liked the spring drive versions of that watch. I've considered it the best non-world time GMT watch design. This is stellar. I appreciate the strap rather than bracelet (which Seiko really doesn't to the best with).
I prefer the green version but in GS’s best wisdom they decided not to make it with a bracelet, so if you want the bracelet it’s the blue one or pay extra for a bracelet for the green one.
Why do GS make most of their GMTs so massive? If Rolex can do a great job at 40mm, I don’t see why GS don’t. The same goes for their monstrous (literally in the case of the Godzilla!) chronographs too. I do like the way they align the date window at 4 o’clock with the crown though. The only way I could tolerate such a complication (which I’m usually not too keen on anyway) that’s not at the 3 or 6 o’clock positions.
Chris _ I may have worded that misleadingly. I was referring to GS-GMTs with an external rotating 24 hour bezel, akin to Rolex’s GMT II. Actually one of my favorite GS-GMTs is the also compact SBGJ217.
@@SirMopy Rolex have made a mistake my friend. However they have taken in the lugs etc so the appearance is negligible. These big sitting watches aren't the trend now dude.. If anything watches are going to 39mm and down to 36mm for men..
Philip Mcritchie I cant wait to revisit this in 3 years. This comment won’t age well. There will always be a place for smaller watches, but no, there is no trend smaller (you just want there to be). Over the past 60 years watches have gotten bigger. From 33 to 36 to 38 and up. 40 is the standard for sport watches...set by the Sub (which just went to 41). Omega Seamaster also just got bigger. There may well be a trend toward smaller watches 20 years from now, but not currently...and no time soon. This GS is too big for my liking...but that is beside the point.
Ok Jason that's the beauty of the internet one of us is wrong. I've got big wrists at 7.5 inches so its not too much in my interest but I like things a bit proportional. All these watches Tim wears are imho too big for him. Have a nice day dude and feel free to take the piss if it doesn't materialise. Ciao !!@@jdstarek

Absolutely marvellous piece.
It really is! That green hue of the dial just pulls you in!

I love whenever you move the watch it sounds like I’m sitting on grandmas furniture
same here...I think that is some sort of ASMR...
I believe that sound is coming when this high quality leather is rubbing against the watch steel....
Absolutely stunning looking watch, haven’t gotten a grand seiko in hand yet for my Channel but I can’t wait till I do !!!
i tried this watch on, the size isnt that bad. You may need have a good think about color harmony before buying this piece.

I have 8inch wrists and bad eyesight, this beauty would be perfect for me..
Nice big manly looking watch, I like the larger size and the thickness lovely watch for a man quality item.

Love the squeak.

Shame the bezel isn't green.

The larger cases is iconic GS and are very popular among GS enthusiasts.
You must be misinformed. Most Grand Seiko GMTs are around 40mm:
SBGE257- 40.5mm
SBGJ201- 40mm
SBGM221 - 39.5mm
SBGN005 - 39mm

I love it!
wonderful
good lord you're wearing a mask?
Any watch that isnt getting smaller currently is seriously going out of fashion. Avoid this monstrosity....
Philip Mcritchie wearing smaller like it is. Like a SMP300... so Rolex also „increased“ the sub dial... also it‘s getting bigger, too: avoid?
