Savotta is one of the brands we're very proud of here in Finland :)
Outdoor gear from your country is top quality
@@Meibeon well.. not everything, but there are good brands, definitely. I think the main reason is because winter here is massive, so gear must work well :)
@@fedegoeswoods3142 we see very little snow but a lot of rain in Wales, your gear is fine by me :-)
@Joseph Hentschel Varusteleka .. a great company .. excellent service 👍.
much more expensive then other brands. quality/price not for you
Yup doing well here. Thanks for all your hard work and reviews.
I absolutely love the grumpy stove. When I lived in Finland I got introduced to the brand Savotta. I really like it. All the stuff that I have tried from them is durable and the price is right. Now that I am back to Iceland where there are almost no trees and you are not allowed to use this kind of stove here I haven't used it for a while. As you said it is not only a novelty and fun to have a character on the stove it is also a really good stove. Would recommend. Fun fact, Savotta manufactured all the gear for the finnish army which is why many finns are really familiar with this brand.
Love my Savotta Happy stove
I'm using the savotta happy stove since a couple of years now and i'm very happy about it. Works very well and it's great to use when stealtht camping or in areas where an open fire is forbidden.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and adventures brother
Thanks for another great review, i would recommend the Bushbox XL and LF i believe they do a smaller size as well, these are hinged fold out stoves, efficient burning and really quick easy set up, they come in stainless or titanium. you can use with wood, fuel blocks or trangia, i don't go backpacking without my titanium LF. Has served me well for over 2 yrs with no issues.
Thanks Luke, never heard of these guys prior to your reviews.
Awesome Review Luke! Love the Grumpy aspect! You love their stuff....
Savotta is awesome! I’m very proud to live on an earth that has Savotta. Thanks for the review of what looks to be a sturdy stove.
I love how the "grumpy" mouth spews out flames...hilarious! Fourty-four dollars is a borderline negative but the personality is very positive. Great review, Luke! I am a proponent for Savotta gear and I use them without fear of letdown or failure. Some of the products have the Sarma name but is sold by Savotta of Suomi, Finland. The cost of shipping from Finland is only 10 bucks which is incredible. I love my hinged Lixada stove, so easy to assemble and can be used with a trangia as well. I also love the Firebox with accessories that if you are one who loves to prepare more substantial meals, beyond boiling water for a dehydrated meal, is an excellent stove. However, for a quick and easy meal and/or a cup of coffee, you can't beat an inexpensive BRS gas stove ($17 on Amazon). Mine is almost four years old and works like a charm.
I really love this stove and I'll get one! Merci Luke!
Good stove, I was looking at them last year and have recommended them to my friends.
But I purchased a Firebox G2 Titanium stove and am very pleasedwithit'squality and performance.
Nice! Have a Petromax Hobo stove on order. Very similar. Love the grumpy mode on yours 🤣
Well, it feels like this one is a must-have for me. 🤣 Thanks, Luke. Stay well.
I have a 12 Survivors folding xtove which I have so far used at home to cook out on my deck during power outages or just for a quick grill. I have also used it as a windscreen for my homemade alcohol stove
Thanks for the review.
That is a great company! Thanks for helpful videos!
Luke👍👍 Honest review, thanks for showing the Savotta stove. Savotta does make some quality gear for a reasonable price. Never used a stove like this, maybe time to try one. S&H Enjoy!
I bought the Siltarp 1 from RAB. I had to look back a year for the review. Thanks. 💓.
I love the idea behind these! Definitely a great brand. I'm more into the folding style personally. Idk if anyone has done it, but I'd like to see one with with a small angled piece for the front that makes it gravity fed.
Agreed. Since I bought a folding version of a twig stove with a plate for a alcohol burner, I would never bother with those fiddly bits and pieces. Amazon for $30. 3 years and going strong. My wife loves hers for fast and easy setup.
Bit late for a review for me, but I’ve just bought something I’ve been looking at for almost a year, I’ve just picked up a Kelly kettle. Technically a kettle, but if you get the kit it has both a hobo stove and a pot support which fits in the top. Comes in 3 sizes, so depends if your hiking or overlanding, I personally bought the largest one. I think you would love it for car camping and trips to lone wolf
Good video...that is a great company with outstanding products....have a great day..
Great review sir!
I use a Solo Lite which I really like along with the 900mL pot. Other than heating water, I use the two to cook some trail popcorn, nice treat. Love your reviews, keep up the good work. Pros and Cons, Loads of pros from What's good and not, plus entertaining. Only one major con, You review something new or really cool, I want it. Don't need it, you just make it to cool. Oh Well, keep them coming.
Great video brother
Great stove great care great brand. You got what you pay for
Hi Luke. Great channel. I recently stumbled on a couple of "stoves" on amazon that while I believe would be too big/heavy for hiking or backpacking might be good for overland or car camping. Both can be found by multiple sellers.
First is the galmaxs7 wood stove.
11.49"w x 11.81"t x 7.16"d. Weight 2 pounds
Next is the and one eziigo. This style can be found in small 5.9" wide x 8.3" tall weighing 1.9 pounds or large 7.8" wide x 10.6"tall weighing 5.5 pounds.
Both types are stainless and can be found for under 50 bucks.
i've bought same the Lixada Large steel wood stove from aliexpress and i'm satisfied - reliable and very fast just for 14$
1 liter of water is boiling in 3-4 minutes from snow
Like many others I love my Firebox sto e and I have only cooked on it twice. A little pricier than the one reviewed here, but a a very well thought out easy to use design.
Nice vid! Great stuff from them! Great website too! Next grill review if you haven’t done it yet is the UCO Flat Pack grill! Thanks for all you do!
I got the Savotta Jääkäri L after watching your review and i am not dissapointed! Even though i feel like i could use a Medium sized aswell 😅
Nice review on the stove and take care!
God bless.
There is a lady from Finland in my hiking club here in Northern California. She told me People from Finland are not considered Scandinavian. I didn’t know that. She is intelligent and assertive, I like her.
Probably German or Russian looking at their recent history 😂
For larger models, I like the titanium version of both the 5" Firebox Stove and the Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox LF. The only contender in the small category is the Firebox Nano (also in titanium). No assembly required of any of them and they all of excellent quality.
..good one, i get grumpy when i have to search for firewood.lol..stay safe..
Great review!!!
I haven't used it yet. But, I bought a Solo Stove five years ago. Takes up room in a backpack. But, it is well made.
I like the solo stoves. Not collapse able but work great
nice and simple just the job
Thanks for videos you put out Luke. Very informative. Just stumbled on to a site with some interesting products . You should take a look at them. Thanks again
Funny thing forgot the site in the comments Wiggys.com. So funny
Nice stove and it works. 👍
I am very fund of the kelly kettle scout and the solostove titan. A trangia sprit burner inside the kelly kettle is awsome
I saw a Savotta ad where they filled a backpack (I forget which model) with rocks and launch it from a trebuchet. Not one broken stitch if you can believe them. I've seen nothing but excellent reviews.
Good review I have never used Savotta but I have not seen ,read or heard a bad review on any of their kit
I've never really gotten in to wood burning stoves. I grew up out west, and open flames like that were not allowed, so I always used canister stoves, starting with the good ol' Hank Roberts Mini Stove. I loved that stove, but the canisters were proprietary and the company went away long ago. Today it's the MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe.
Excellent review, Luke! I like Savotta as well. The Finns know what they are doing. But for a wood burning stove I recommend the foldable ones from Bushcraft Essentials. They are easy to use.
Yeah, this.👆
Savotta Finland 👍🇫🇮
Thanks.
I always use a rock or the stove pad that I carry, as a kid I had to put out to many fires others did not take care of right.
Hi Luke,
Watched the video on the backpack from decathlon which was great. I know you like stoves so have a look at decathlon's Wood stove MH 500. Will certainly give plenty to talk about pros and cons. I have not used it myself, just came across it browsing their store products.
Great, Luke! When will there be test a " Wildlands Outdoor Gear UL 2P Tent"???
I see that it not able to be ship to the USA, how did you get yours again?
Trying to figure that out too
Went to the link in your video description. When I tried to order shipping to Michigan was $76.
Can you reveiw some white gas stoves. I use to have one in scouts and loved it but I sold it years ago. I was thinking about getting a REI whisper international but not sure if its worth the price. Can you reveiw that one?
Hey Luke great video. I bought a stove just like it from Verustleka for $19.99 but with out a carrier.
Same here $25 Canadian and $13 shipping great deal.
Love my solo stoves.
Got a couple of cheap lixada ones for past 2 yrs used lots work good for me. Multi fuel. Sticks, wood, wood pellets and charcoal. And small stove has a meths burner bowl that is good for quick brew up.
I have the xl stainless lixada and its a good one
Hi Luke! Again great review. Hard to go wrong with Savotta products! BTW, have you heard about Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox LF or XL wood stoves? Expensive AF but still maybe something worth checking out.
Would you please review the Silverfire Scout backpacking stove and maybe a Kelly Kettle. Thanks
I am glad u reviewed the happy stove before u did the grumpy one
Another highly appreciated review, many thanks.
Have you ever considered testing the foldable (they are not sticked together) stoves from Bushcraft-Essentials". They're called "Bushbox" and either made of stainless steel or titanrium.
Pricy, but great engineered.
All the best for you and your family im 2021.
Varustelekas särmä wood stove is very similar. Might even come from same factory. 1/2 price, but does not include that puoch. Varusteleka warns to order their product to u.s. while its not officialy approwed there.
Seconded - I have both Varusteleka versions, the old and the newer one. The only real differences compared to the Savotta one are that the Varusteleka version is made out of slightly thicker sheet metal, meaning that it weighs a bit more, and that it doesn’t come with any kind of a sheath. Also less grumpy. :D
I just bought the simple theory stove , havent fired yet , not collapsible, but built like a tank , the sell a mini screen for grilling
I have the Lixada Wood Burning Camp Stoves Folding Stainless Steel Backpacking Stove Mini BBQ Grill with Carry Bag for Backpacking Hiking Camping Cooking its nothing amazing but I love using it
Been wanting one for awhile it's now on the short list.sarma makes a similar one cheaper. Firebox is what 60 ish?
I think there stoves are good, I almost got the happy stove but ended up buying the Honey Stove instead. You would like like it is is unique and multi fuel options. It is really good quality.
If you apply a liberal coats of washing up liquid to the outside of your pot it will make it a lot easier to clean when you return home , I have done this for years
I use a bush box XL
time for the happy stove :)
I recommend trying out The Fire trough stove, by Richard Outdoors, on RUclips. UK. Not tried it myself but it looks great.
Wondering, the fire proof mat you mentioned, what type of mat would that be? I tried a silicon mat meant to rest hot hair tongues on, but it cought fire with my tiny lixada on it.
I recommend firebox nano or the gen2 5 inch wood stove
Luke what’s your thoughts on the Kelly Kettle - also do you ever carry a weather alert radio?
@TheOutdoorGearReview Luke, can you do a few "Glamping" With the Family Reviews, of items a glamourous camper would take with them while car camping. So weight isn't too much issue. Large Tents, beddings, and chairs, stoves, tables and chairs, etc.. Japanese Gear preferred for Glamping Camping!!
I have got the Rocuboid, by Onetigris. The new one, with the robot face. It is a bit cheaper, good quality and very sinilar. One thing I find better with the Rocuboid, is the plate with holes, that comes additionally. Venting of the fire comes from between the two plates and is very effective, while still having an ash catcher on the bottom. The big plus with this, is the possibility to use it with my Trangia burner, while it is very sturdy. Just put the top plate up, and the distance of the burner to the pot is perfect.
Luke do like these stove or fire pit what do you think with children around and when is adventure coming soon
Have you seen savotta commercials on youtube? They are hilarious. :D
So what are your thoughts in comparing the Happy, Grumpy and Big Bad stoves? Happy to spend the money to buy quality and have a Solo Stove but want something that will actually provide fire not just cooking ability
Can you please do a review on REDCAMP Wood Burning Camp Stove ?
Looking at the assembly slots, it appears that the front, side and back pieces are vertically symmetrical; which would make assembly even easier since there's no "top" or "bottom", "inside" or "outside" orientation.
You should review Savotta tent sauna. Tent sauna is a luxury item
Have you tried a SImple Theory Gear Pack Stove?
I love Savotta!!! I have their Jakarta backpack that I had to order through a store in Canada. I tried the website and of course they would not ship it here to Commiefornia. Ugh.
I want one of the packs!
Looks good but where can I buy it? Wasn't on Amazon and the Savotta site wasn't any help, either.
Nice stove
Solo Stove Lite all day!!!
could this stove burn would pellets?
I like it! I am waiting on my bushbuddy. Please check out the bush cooker stoves from four dog. They are expensive but it is a gasifier with a a bottom that creates a cyclone. Super efficient and made from titanium. I believe they are made in the US also. I would have one but before I found it I already ordered my bushbuddy
When are you going to do a overnighter???I miss your travels!!!
website said it can't be shipped to the U S or Canada, Maybe there's a local retailer.
I did a quick search and my results were, it is not readily available in the US. Did I miss something?
I have the "honey" stove out of the UK in titanium, it is expensive but it's very light. I've cooked steaks in a frying pan on it a few times. And you can use it as a large 6 sided stove or a small 4 sided.
I managed to cook lunch for 6 with the Honey Stove configured for the Trangia . Great stove, mine is an original in SS. Regards from across the pond
@@clivenewton7609 I've always used twigs and wood chunks in mine
Savotta make good stuff.
Looks ok to me.
I was hoping to get a review on this stoves here, run about 27 bucks on amazon.
Odoland Camping Stove Wood Burning Camp Stove, Portable Foldable Lightweight Stainless Steel Backpacking Stove for Outdoor Hiking Backpacking Survival Picnic and BBQ
Iv had it for a while and i think its a way better stove than the tiny wood ones, you can do just about anything in it, charcoal, wood, or even alcohol.
This product cannot be shipped to the U.S.A. or Canada
. From their website, where can I get it?
Something coming your way Luke.... and oh boy will it be fun...... and no I am not sending you more BRC coffee, well, at least not yet.
Says they do not ship to the US or Canada ;(
I am sure this oven works well, this Company produce only qualitystuff. Suggestion for next twigoven: Lixada and other brands produce ovenstående similar to toaks, but are cheaper. Have a litteratur one, and I am impressed what the little oven can do, and that it can be put togheter several ways.
Why does their site say can not ship to the USA or Canada?
My opinion to crumpy Sahara stove I think because of its opining and the fire coming in every way it's some dangerouse to some one not used to so much free out of it. And the hands can burn.thznks🖐️🙏
