I miss the 90’s. Plain and simple . Never realized how much of an impact it placed in my life; the music, movies, shows, food, etc. I always reflect on those days when I’m down or feel like the world is too chaotic for me.
I love the template of these commercials: 1) A person is having a normal day. 2) Trouble happens. 3) A witness acknowledges their misfortune with either pity or amusement. 4) Main character stays cool and does something clever after popping a mint. 5). Witness is surprised at their resourcefulness and shows respect. 6) Freeze frame showing Mentos…the freshmaker. All of this is done to the same catchy tune whose lyrics make no sense thanks to bad translation. Every single one of these commercials follows this format, all with zero dialogue. It’s actually a good example of telling a story with facial expressions and gestures alone.
@mattitude2471 to be honest, I didn't even know it was for mentos at the time. I just remember the painted pin stripe suit and him lying on the bench. Most of what I saw was them moving equipment while the actor was standing around waiting. When I did finally see it, I was like "that was a mentos commercial??"
@davidnavarro4821 it had to be at least 1994 because that's when I started working there. It was directly in front of the entrance at Hilton hotel at 10 E Thomas in Phoenix. You can Google Street View it.

I’m sorry for tainting this old school commercial. But I used my weed I smoke like mentos freshness. Father of three, last one is in he’s terrible three’s, every time I’m getting stressed the fu$k out, I go outside my backyard light one up, and next thing you know I’m feeling aiight now. The chaos I go through daily just seems more manageable now. Mentos weed freshness baby.
Can someone tell me what year this commercial came out? This was the first thing on TV. First thing period I ever remember seeing when I was very little . It was at the latest 93' but I think it was a year or two before.
If I were the hiring manager, I would. He shows that he's confident, unique, resourceful, and adaptable. I could put this guy in a terrible project and trust that he can turn it around in record time. Or I probably won't because the paint smell is overwhelming my office and I'm sensitive to strong scents like that. No amount of Mentos is gonna mask that smell. As well as the fact that I'm not a hiring manager.
This commercial lives rent free in my head. The man literally ruined his suit, but it didn’t matter cuz he had a mentos lol I love it.
i remember this one vividly
I never stopped singing that jingle since it came out. That's damn good marketing, sir
1990s Last Normal Decade in West Europe and USA.
I love how his first thought after ruining his suit is “I’ll pop a mint!”
i mean, the mint did give him the power to use the wet paint to create pinstripes
They don’t make commercials like this any more. It makes me miss the 90s.

Paint stripes, Pinstripes They are both the same when you have Mentos the Fresh Maker!
The nostalgia is real I’m about to sample this beat lmao
Lmao LITERALLY what I just posted on my Instagram story! Ha! Did you?
When "Slim Fit" was never an option. 90s😢
I needed this laugh! I saw a parody for one of the commercials, and it ends with the person locked in the back seat with the killer in the front lol
One of my favs
This mentos song has randomly been stuck in my head as of late I had to pay a visit it was only right 🤣🤷🏾♂️
When you getting stoned and randomly remember the mentos song 😂😅
My definitely number one Mentos commercial ❤
Fact is, this song sounds better than most modern music
A good way to end the day with a little optimism😂 never give up and don't forget to wipe your mouth at the table
I watched a disturbing flash animation with this song years ago, and this song stuck with me.
The paint may be the same color as dude’s hat but that won’t stop it from getting sticky and smelly.
Scary.. imagine this being played in an unfinished basement, of a seriel killers house
On TBS
It's a shame the Foo Fighters didn't use this one to spoof. This is the one Mentos commercial I remember the best.
1990s last Normal Decade in West Europe and USA.
I wonder who the singer is for this song. Lmaooooo
I worked in that business park in Phoenix. I remember watching them make this commercial.
Dude you gotta tell us more that’s fascinating haha
You watched history unfolding! Interesting, I thought it was shot in NYC. Was it in ‘91 or ‘92 ?

There should have been a "Wet Paint" sign.

Anyone know who the actor is in this?
His name is Dylan Hoffman, he’s now a real estate agent.

Did he get the job?
