Odakyu for the win!! They have some the best team of schedule planners in Japan. FYI the VSEs still run every few weeks for special events and they're being kept in really good condition. I'm lucky to be able to see them every day in the trainyard from my house.
Another interesting & informative upload Thom. I have Japan on my 'Bucket List", especially the Bullet Train -this ionic VFT really was the trendsetter in the development of the fast train concept back in the 1960s. Your train uploads truly prove that 'trains are awesome' & Japan appears to have quite a few awesome trains!
When I was a kid living in Japan way back when, I had many chances to ride the 3000 series SE, but the real thrill was when I occasionally got to ride the 3100 series.
I’m glad you liked the video. I add music because it sounds a bit too dry if it’s just my voice and no other audio. I’ve noticed that the volume changes based on what device you watch my video on. I’ll work on lowering it a little bit.
Truly a great train gone too soon. Odakyu designs great Romancecar trains but in my opinion their commuter trains are below-average from a design perspective.
Your respect for people and History with love of trains is heartwarming. Thank you.
Thank you, that means a lot to me!
I'll miss the VSE, I would ride it from Sagami-Ono to Shinjuku and back all the time, once I scored a front row seat!

I’m a Seibu guy myself but I love riding the Odakyu line. Glad to hear the VSEs are still doing good.

Thank you! I love the trains in Japan! If you do get the chance to cross it off your bucket list, feel free to reach out to me for suggestions.
@@Thom-TRA I just might take up your kind offer - I was hoping to do a Singapore & Japan trip in September/October just depends on COVID
@@dennisforner6090 that sounds so exciting! Please do, I’d love to help
I had one of these on a train simulator years ago and now I know something about them. Informative vid. Thanks.
Cool! Always fun when you know a thing or two about a train

The VSE is probably my favorite train of all time. So sad that it’s retired
It’s pretty epic
I remember getting a model of this train when I was in middle school. 🎉
I have a plarail of this train!
I’m so glad I got to go on the VSE on my birthday when I had the chance.
The VSE is a cool train, gone too soon
@@Thom-TRA well it’s not gone yet. Well at least not until autumn 2023
I always get lost in Japan 😢😅
Great vid, Thom. Beautiful train. But the background music was very loud .... Nothing wrong with your voice, so why add music?

Cool
Thanks!
I dont know why they stopped using vse but not gse. I think they same except colour?! 🤣
They are very different trains! GSE is more than 10 years newer too
Check out some interior photos of the Odakyu 50000 series VSE on Wikipedia.
