Phat Bollard busking on Market street Manchester 13/07/2016 been waiting to catch them live for ages and they are every bit as lovely folk as you can imagine. These two jobsworth came along and told them they had half an hour to play here then they'd have to move along. When the half hour was up they came out of that shop behind (where they had been loitering and getting paid for the privilege) on the dot and started re-harassing them to move along. Phat Bollard stood their ground after asking the audience what they would like, to which we replied "play" which they duly did. What do these people get paid for one has to ask oneself!? The real police came along a couple of minutes later and said they were doing nothing wrong, just keep the language down.
I’m glad the council came because it added more passion and it ended up being the best version of this song. Bravo

We are supposed to live in a democracy, and i love it when the lead singer asks the people if they want them to stay or go and the shout is conclusive that they should stay. We elect counsellors to enact our will, and so on hearing that those guys should have accepted it and left the band alone (let the will of the people stand). Equally, Councils like to argue they need to put in paid for parking and issue parking fines to the people of the towns and cities in the UK for parking in their own town whilst out - the councils like to argue it's to ensure more people can park or that the roads remain clear - but that's garbage, simply give us more parking spaces and make them free since we already pay taxes.
What all this shows is that UK Council's have lost sight of the fact that they serve us, our will, our needs, our aspirations. They've become a bloated and costly self preserving industry that feathers its own nest on our income. There needs to be a drastic over haul of councils in the UK to make them better serve the people and not simply their own agendas.

I lived for a year in Sydney... There where a couple of bands that stopped me dead in my tracks whilst going to work resulting in me being late. Buskers sometimes have the best lyrics and ideas about life. Not afraid to lose anything because most of them already lost a lot.
My respect to these guys... They would stop me dead in my tracks!

Defund big business by shopping at small businesses instead of big corporations. It's the Primarks, Greggs, McDonalds, HMVs and all the other global chain stores whose managers complain to cops and council officials who always lie about complaints from 'members of the public' but on many occasions it's the store managers who are whining. You can get a better burger from a burger stall and keep the money in the local economy instead of giving it to a multinational company to line the pockets of the super-rich or sit in an offshore account paying no UK tax
In the City of London, the old city, SO many of the old squares and spaces have been farmed out to the big corps and banks etc who refurb them to fit the image they want to portray. Often they spend mega fortunes doing it. Granite setts, Portland stone paving, statues etc.
Price we pay as the public is they then illegally introduce public restrictions on them. Can't sit there sir.

With the usual assault and robbery going on in No10... and the endless attack on earth and women's rights... I was getting a bit down earlier. I came here to listen once again... to this perfect soundtrack for current times. It never fails to lift my spirits and remind me what we are here to do... to riseeeee and to be free. To reclaim land that belongs to ALL of us, not just the shops.

I missed one call from your depo on Wednesday & I called straight back in which I was told I cannot have an earlier date than the Sunday. I then received an email to say to ring to arrange a date of my convience so I called yet again and spoke with the same lady who said no this was not possible so please don't say you were contacting me one call is not sufficient enough to the amount of times I called.
Things I was told as to why delivery is late
1. 12pm it's running an hour and a half behind
2. 2pm it can take upto 7pm
3. 5.17 it's because the cyclist in London today
4. 7pm the route was cancelled at 2.45pm lack of drivers
5. 9pm someone will call u to reschedule there open until 10
Monday when I called I was told I wasn't the only customer & someone will call me back still no call still nothing Wednesday although I then got a text to say delivery scheduled for Sunday. But also got an email saying ring to make earlier date. I had one call from Ashley at depo asking me to call re delivery I called twice spoke with the same lady twice who told me there's no earlier date then the Sunday. So please don't tell me you were trying to contact me. When delivery arrived the following week after sleeping on a mattress having to struggle up & down I believe ikea left the slats out on purpose how did only one thing not get delivered & happen to be vital to what I needed. The wardrobe doors do not have holes in for the handles I don't know if this is standard however seems silly I have to get someone to drill & line up all the handles to match. I do believe I should have my delivery back & 10 for calls however like previously mentioned I will not be back to ikea in a hurry so 100 voucher is not suffient. I am pregnant with sciatica sleeping having to get up & down caused more pain the necessary & had to take time off work due to this. So I would be greatful for you to give me 100 cash as that is compensation & even still that does not cover my loss of earnings. giving me a voucher for a shop I do not want to go back to makes no sense only putting money back into your store.i really don't want to keep going round in circles I would be happy with delivery back 35/ 10 for calls & 100 that I can spend as I feel fit.

To be fair these do seem pretty good. I would say however, I work in a shop and some of these bands really do your head in. They can be really loud playing the same three four tracks over and over again, some of them also miming. They don't pay anything to be in prime spot on the high street and I would imagine they don't pay tax on their earnings like we all have to.

the reason its (usually) an issue (in the uk) is they are too close to the shop windows and its amplified.
i think every city should have a few proper busking spots under a roof to encourage quality live performance,
as internet shopping takes over, we need to make high streets special again.
so take those 2 council workers yearly wages and instead spend it on high quality entertainment for your highstreet

Busking was legalised in Rochdale in the 1970s after a court case. The busker said he was a street performer. ❤️🎸👍.
