    Received my silver XT5 yesterday and I couldn’t be happier it is the XT that I have always wanted. The resolution hike is quite distinct. The IBIS maybe only slightly better in the figures quoted than the XT4 but in practice it is a lot better and I am a shaky old 70 year old so it is much appreciated. Focussing shutter EDV & LCD much improved and the answer to any serious stills photographer the tilt screen is back. One of my biggest gripes about the XT4. Also the ibis/OIS conflict with my 70-300 is gone and the zoom now nails focus which it did only intermittently with the 4. My 16-80 was a fine lens but now after using the 16-55 last year is matching that fine heavy beast for image quality but of course better range.Happy old chap here. At last I got what I have wanted after 50+ years of photography.

    Can't wait to upgrade my XT3 to the XT5. I'm thrilled this geared toward photographers and not videographers. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I never ever take video with my camera. I use my iPhone for that if I need video. I love the dials, the vintage style, the feel in the hand, etc. What I'm looking forward to is the IBIS and higher res. Nice video Omar. I enjoy your channel.

    I upgraded my XT3 to the XT5 whilst I could still get a decent trade in value. I have used my XT3 a lot over the last 5 years or so!
    I have learnt a great deal about photography and how to use my XT3 from RUclipsrs (like you, thankyou, and Chris on Pal2Tech, what a guy!, Dan Bailey and John Peltier etc. all troopers).
    Recently I have started printing out some of my XT3 photos on A3 sized prints and have been amazed at the detail, usually taken with a 55-200 lens. The bar has been set very high, especially as I'm mostly a walkaround photographer. I LOVE the results!
    Now it's time to start again with my XT5. So far I have had mixed results. The BEST ones are much better, there's just something rather magical about them...the others are OK, and that's more than just OK, they're as good as the ones from my XT3. I can't decide if they are twice as good, the XT5 cost twice as much as the XT3, but at least they are not worse (a great relief as I loved my XT3).
    Who knows, I might try printing in A2 now and see what happens, it's all very exciting!!!.
    BTW, I only shoot JPEG Fine, these cameras are like mobile Lightroom devices once you get to know them, and I'm not doing this to make my living, just having fun, and lots of it!
    Bless you Omar, keep on keepin on, you're a star in the firmament...
    Peter

    I have an X-T4 and will probably stick to this model for a long time as it stands unique in the X-T line, and fulfills exactly my needs. I use the video capabilities professionally and the flip screen is a must there. Additionally I love to take my camera with me to business trips, and the X-H series would be too big for that.

IBIS, more film sims, better battery life, tilt screen, higher res and improved shutter with better AF, but still nice and light weight, I’m really excited. I shoot professionally as a portrait and family photographer and will likely keep my XT3 as a backup body, so having a similar feel in hand will with familiar controls, dials and buttons be a great thing when switching between bodies. XT5 is going to be perfect for me.

    Hey Omar, thanks for your thoughts on the Fujifilm X-T5 camera. I currently use the Fujifilm X-T1 and X-H1 cameras and love the Gen 2 and Gen 3 sensor's color rendition and cinematic aesthetic. I completely agree with your assessment of Fujifilm's older sensor output and wish they would bring back this gorgeous color palette. However, that's just wishful thinking on my part as it seems the trend is for more and more megapixels. I will definitely not be upgrading as I love my older Fujifilm cameras and their beautiful files. Thanks so much for the great content Omar.

    I love watching the Fujifilm presentations that include the “clay” design studio and that discuss their overall design philosophy. It’s in line with their parallel focus on the color science (and art) reminiscent of their legacy film types. I’ve enjoyed several of the X and GFX product lines, but the classic dial arrangement of the XT cameras is still my favorite. The XT-4 is already brilliant, but the improved ergonomics (including the easier to find AF button), faster processor allowing improved autofocus, and the increased resolution make the XT-5 a worthwhile upgrade. I’ll be up at midnight 11/16. I’ve grown to like the articulating (fold-out) screen, especially for its ability to fully close, but I’ve always enjoyed the flip-up design as well. Hey, Leica M, Q and SL bodies still use fixed screens, which also work fine.

    • @NetTubeUser
      @NetTubeUser Год назад +4

      You need more megapixels if you work as a pro photographer. To print your photos for your job, at least for an exposition. To print a poster, or to have your photos displayed on a big screen. Or if you want to crop your photos and take only a part of them. Otherwise, it's useless or doesn't make any sense if you are just someone who takes photos during your holidays or something like that.

    • @joemash4193
      @joemash4193 Год назад +1

      @@NetTubeUser For sure. I'd describe myself as an advanced hobbyist, certainly not a pro by any means - that's why I don't need the megapixels at the moment. I've done some paid gigs like weddings/engagements/senior pics but I mostly shoot for myself. The only printing I'm doing is for my own house and if a friend or family member wants a framed print or something.

    • @NetTubeUser
      @NetTubeUser Год назад

      @@joemash4193 Yes. And it all depends on the format (size) you want to print your photos. I'll give you an example with 6240x4160 pixels in 72, 150, 240, and 300 PPI with the X-T4. In 72PPI: 86.6x57.7 inches / 150PPI: 41.6x27.7 inches / 240PPI: 26x17 inches / 300PPI: 20.8x13.8 inches. So, as you can see, it's big already. And today, you can even resize your photos with AI if you want, with "Topaz Gigapixels" for example. So, yeah ... it's BIG ... really BIG Haha!

  • @MarkRosengarten
    @MarkRosengarten Год назад

    I preordered one in black. I had the X-T1, loved it. Had the X-T2, converted one to IR when I got the X-T3, which is my favorite camera of all time. One quibble with the X-T3 is the way I shoot, the Q button seriously gets in my way. Not sure if the Q button in the X-T5 is too close to the rear dial, that might be the only thing that kills this new camera for me. I would have preferred a more modest megapixel upgrade, maybe to 32 megapixels but the 7-stop IBIS will help tremendously in allowing me to leave my tripod in the car more often as my main workhorse lens is the 16-55 f/2.8, which is not stabilized. Most of my photography is done in low light and I am glad that the base ISO has been lowered further. Hoping the smaller pixel size won't impact my low-light work. The smaller size and the chonkier battery are welcome changes for me coming from the X-T3 and I will find a Smallrig L-bracket/grip to use like I've had since the X-T2 to improve the ergonomics. All in all, pretty excited to get my hands on this one.

I went to sell it to recoop some $$$ from investing in the Nikon system but man, that XT2 is just special! So I will most likely unload an XT4 body and shoot with two different systems which is not what I typically do. XT5 does not tempt me at all but it might if I didn't just get the Z7ii. I shoot a mix of headshots, portrait, wedding, events, architecture, theatre. So each has it's purpose. I LOVE the flip screen on the XT4 mainly to keep it closed inward to protect the screen since I rarely use the external screen! Great releases from Fuji. Funny enough I think this puts the X-T4 kind of in a sweet spot between those who want some XH features in a XT body. I.e. flip out screen, video and a battery grip. I’ll hold on to my X-T4 for a little longer due to that.

    The XT-4 had one feature that I wanted, IBIS, but it wasn't quite compelling enough for me to upgrade from the XT-3. This is a pretty compelling package though. It's nice to see Fuji still coming out with competitive products in the APS-C segment. I got the XPro 1 and XT-3 specifically because I didn't want to carry around a full frame body (or more importantly full frame glass). I'm probably going to upgrade this generation. I'm curious if my old lenses can fully take advantage of the 40MP sensor. Thanks for the always informative and entertaining content Omar!

    I chose a 2ndhand X-T3 over the X-T4 when upgrading from my X-T20, because I am a photographer with no interest in video. I get why every RUclipsr is obsessed with video, but I really don’t care. I had the flippy screen on my Canon DSLR, it’s great, but for walk around photography and street, the flippy screen is better. You also feel less paranoid about accidentally breaking it off. The w things I would have loved from the X-T4 was the larger battery and especially the IBIS. The restI preferred the X-T3. And frankly the battery has been just fine for me, occasionally I exhaust the battery and quickly swap

    I was very fortunate to Pre-order this morning from B&H. I m a hobbyist who shoots scapes and wildlife. My lineup includes EM1 MIII, CANON RP, and my favorite XT 3. The EMI as I’m certain you know has IBIS onboard and good tracking, thus kicking the XT3’s butt when I’m targeting flying waterfowl. Thus because I love the retro design, and the flip screen design, I hemmed and hold, over purchasing an XT 4 and then again the recently released XH 2….. Decisions…DECISIONS…. ultimately I was fortunate to lock onto FujiRumors…… and thus with their leaky rumors I waited …. Immediately after FUJI JAPAN went live with the announcement I called B&H and preordered. I’m now a happy camper as Fuji Japan announced that they were in production and expected to begin shipping by November 17th. Now the wait begins…..but there is light at the end of the tunnel and time to consider which of my present stablemates will be going unto EBay in order to make room for this hobbyist dream come true…..Thanks as always…. You are a true upbeat joy to watch…. RustyIronMike

    Hey Omarrrr... good to see your opinion. I upgraded from the XT20 to the XT3 in 2022, so I think XT5 will definitely be on the cards, in 2025 ;)
    Fuji has been doing incredible stuff recently. It's been my favourite travel cam, but I think XT5 is overkill for my specific needs. For my commercial work, which is mainly video, I have a Lumix S1 (and adding a S5 to that mix soon). That system serves me well, and has superb video-focused lenses. For travel, I would absolutely upgrade from my XT20 with Fuji brought a XT40 or XT50 with either the 26 MP sensor, or the 40 MP sensor, and added - 1. 4K 10 bit internal video, even if capped at 15 min for 30 FPS or with a crop at 60 FPS, and 2. IBIS. The IBIS alone would be enough to get me to upgrade to that model. I love the X-H series' features, but I miss my dials and I want them in a mini sized body.

    This is just what I've been looking for for adverse conditions travel. Recently hiked the Camino de Santiago in Spain with my XT-4 and only a 23mm f2. Needed water resistance due to being a very rainy area, so the XT-30 could not fit the bill. I did not enjoy the extra weight, though, and the flippy screen was awkward, and eventually beat up my eyecup until I had to rip it off. ( it was a replacement cup that was bigger and always got knocked by the incoming flippy screen). I've traded in both my XT-30 and XT-4 and will go with one camera. Enjoyed your thoughts more than many vloggers who had greater access to the camera.

      @@joefratt Hi, Joe, we took the Norte route which we completed in 37 days. It was not hard to keep the large NP-235 battery charged as it never ran out with a day's shooting ( though sometimes my energy did). I charged the battery directly in the camera using a USB-C charging cable to avoid carrying a separate charger ( every gram of extra weight is a problem) I carried an extra battery but never used it. I tried different clips ( peak design and one other model) but found that the clips damaged my clothing and it was not that hard to carry the camera just off to one side on a normal camera strap.

    40MP requires lenses which can use all those pixels properly. And such a glass is really expensive, I'm not talking about 23mm f2 here, it is more like an exception, but overall, I don't think, I would upgrade to XT-5...

    I just pre-ordered my XT-5 -- upgrading from my T3. Practically all the new features (resolution, video specs, screen resolution, IBIS, more film simulations, familiar size and form factor.. and the 3-way screen) were factors in this decision. My only modest disappointment was the lack of dedicated headphone jack for video, but adapters and 3rd party gear can (fairly) inexpensively handle any missing video features.

    I've been shooting an XT-2 since they came out and for the most part it's been perfect... Except for the lack of IBIS, modern focus performance and a small battery. I normally carry 4 of them when I go out and the last time I was in Spain, I'd go through all of them in a simple walk around Toledo. When the XT-3 came out I didn't feel there was enough there to merit an upgrade. Then the XT-4 came out but it had the flippy screen and that made it a no go for me. Now the XT-5 answers all of my issues plus a 40MP sensor. What's not to like?

      If you are a photographer and not a self absorbed TikToc / Blogger then the last thing you need is a screen that has to hang off center, prone to breakage, and getting in the way of mounting equipment all so the aforementioned bloggers can rest assured that every camera in the universe is inflicted with their obsession. That is why some people think it's a negative.

As someone interested primarily in event and street photography (the tilt screen is a must!), I was seriously disappointed when the vlogging/video-centric X-T4 was released. Now there is finally a true successor to the X-T3. And, as someone who often crops quite heavily, I’m sure I can find a use for every single one of those megapixels 😁.
