sir, may I share my experience. the main stem that stops its growth above the trellis and grows again without any branches bear more fruits quickly. this is my observation. I am from Kerala (INDIA).Phosphorus treated sand is the best medium for fast rooting. your failure seems to be the positioning of the cutting(loose hold). keep it tight and erect in the plastic bag. ( treat the sand at least 7 days before planting) planting directly to the pole(concrete) in janu-feb will give you better result than transplanting rooted cuttings in rainy season . .I am a dragon grower for the last 10 years. I have been researching in this field.I can share with you if you are interested some interesting fact observed by me about dragon growing. . Annoyance if any caused by my interference is regretted
Its is the calus, a healing system of the plant that allows the plant to root faster than the fresh ones. That is why the fresh ones failed. Hello from México the land of cactus.
the experiment was good but it the dragon fruit cutting was inconsistent in terms of cambium maturity. Dragon fruit cutting that has a harder cambium tends to produce roots faster due to maturity factor. In this case, the cutting that is nearest to the mother plants tends to be more mature. The point is, you used 2 cuttings(3days earlier and newly cutted), then you cutted each cutting into 3 segments(bottom/nearest to the mother plant, middle part, and top/farthest from the mother plant), you should have paired all the cuttings that you have used, -3 days cutted bottom/nearest to the mother plant vs. new cutted bottom/nearest to mother plant -3 days cutted middle segment vs. new cutted middle segment -3 days cutted top/farthest portion away from the mother plant vs. newly cutted top/farthest potion away from the mother plant in this way, you have elimated the maturity factor of the cambiums. this is to have a more detailed data. ☺
I think the difference may be so minimal that it will show very small difference. Dragon fruit are so easy to root. Limit moisture, dry 1 week and you are right: choose mature branches as young growing one barely will set roots. In my opinion use of antiseptic will prevent from rotting (the main problem)
It was a very good experiment except you did not mention which ones were the freshly cut and which ones were the calus when you were checking for the roots.
I have used a cutting with aerial roots buried in potting mic, it developed new branch shoots before all other cuttings, and is much more vigorous. apparently aerial roots can form ground roots

Not sure why worry about a few days quicker growth. They will all grow and then still have to wait 18 months to reach bud stage then 2 month for flower and fruit.20 month and you want to save a few days hahaha

Any soil is fine, you just plant and fertilize, periodically water in the dry season, once every 3 to 4 days. 10 to 20 days npk fertilizer and microbiological times. and follow the way I have shared many previous videos, you can apply. good luck👍

In your plastic bag samples, was that the one cut and dried for 3 days or the fresh cut and stuck it in the bag?
I'm guessing the one dried for 3 days
Big like your work

Was the second to last one with the most roof dried out first or freshly cut?
Very interesting test. It seems dirt makes a difference.

Good technique 😍😍
What did you use?
And what tipe of water did you use
How many days come out the roots
Did you keep those in sunlight or shade?
The 3 day cured cuttings in the bags retains moisture and humidity which is better for rooting.
Where should we put the cutting in shaded place or in direct sunlight ?
no, never
Planting the cuttings in an air tight bag kept the moisture and heat in. Therefor the cutting was able to root faster..
My theory😃⚘
Your right and the 3 day dried cutting performed better
3days after planting most good result comes out is it rigth?

Should we peel it from any side?🧐
Which varietiy ? How is the fruit? White, Red or Pink or purple.....
For another one u didn't tied cover tightly hence, it takes moisture so, it doesn't grow
If any wrong sorry.......
Ma si può lasciare in acqua ?
calus aids in rooting success and the bag retained heat which also aids in rooting.
The one you tight in the plastic, did you put water
I do not put water in the plastic bag, when I fasten the plastic bag there will be steam.
I think just a little water would fasten the rooting process. Am I right?
The plant i ordered came broken in half..i replanted the first half...hoping for some roots
Use soil and compost for better results
Sand, cured by steam or chemicals is best. Perlite aso... Can use some garlic, toothpaste...
interesting, i would add a group with rooting powder in the water for comparison 😆
Sir, I would like some cuttings from this tree. Thank you

Hello Ferry Man, I'm just going to buy a farm to plant the dragon fruits. Thanks for your recommendations.
I will follow all your advice.
Great
ferry man can you tell me which plant roots growth well in that air tighted cover, weather 3 days kept and cooled plant or freshly cutted plant.
yes he did not tell this!
Cut branches 3 days ago, keep in a shady place.
sorry for the late reply😁
Cure a week in shadow and rooting can be done even in sun. Too much moist is the main problem.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
NICE
Thank you. I will try ❤️

When you guys bend the branches at the top of the trellis....doesn't that hurt or damage the plant? Or must it only be done to mature branches? I feel like they would snap.
no problem, the tree is still growing normally, branching very quickly. If you want to learn more or have questions, I can make a video about them
@@FerryMan Yes, please do. I saw a video where they bent the branch with 'flat' side on the inside and in the evenings.
So they were more dehydrated and pliable than if it had been done in the morning, after watering?
It will root fast if you cut it directly from its node and make sure the cuttings are matured enough as well.
There's a possibility the ones with roots were in a slightly more shaded area, or were shaded by the other cuttings
regards from Ecuador
When can I use the branches to make new plants? Within 1 year or 6 months of planting can I develop new plants with the 1year old df branches?
yes, you should start planting when 1 year old branch is best
Very useful information video. Wishing you all the best. 🙏🙏
What size grow bags is best for growing like this cutting plant?
Please! Advice me. 🙏🙏
3 days dry was rooted in polythene very well bhaii or not.I can understand
My cuttings are in the water to root, but the ends are slimy. Is this normal before they root?
Water is the worst way to do this. Rotting...
Ok
Hope you dint plant upside down .But they produce aerial roots anywhere randomly .
I've seen a video where upside down made roots too! Lol
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
In plastic cover, may be one in sand another touched plastic cover result in slow growth
If you had put the subtitles on while you were pouring the water, we would have had time to see it. Thank you very much!
