    Video showing the replacement process for spark plugs on a 1.4tsi ea111 twin charged vw audi CAVD CAVE CAVG engine. Techniques for removal of the ignition coil packs to access and replace the spark plugs. this is a necessary job as a service item, but you may also need to remove your spark plugs because you want to do a compression or leak down test for internal engine diagnostics.

    Thanks, just did this on my wifes Jetta. Could not believe how hard it was to lift the coils up! I used the cable tie method, but broke a couple before they budged. I had to use a length of 3/4 pipe as a lever and placed blocks of wood as a fulcrum.

    Wow what a ridiculous design, such little access to the coils. Mine were really difficult to get out, took me a good hour messing around with various methods. Ended up using cable ties and then leveraging with a screwdriver. Peice of pipe also broke right at the rubber grommet, just completely hard brittle plastic. Luckily had the right sized hose lying around to cut a replacement peice. Thanks for the video.

    • @FourRingsAuto
      @FourRingsAuto  4 года назад +1

      They are generally only replaced when there is an issue such as a misfire. However it wouldn't be a bad thing to replace them and keep the originals as spares. Only use genuine or equivalent parts such as bosch. No ebay parts should be fitted!

    • @billeadie7387

    Can I use those red Audi R8 coil packs on this engine or just 2.0 engines?

    • @FourRingsAuto
      @FourRingsAuto  4 года назад +3

      You can, but you have to swap the pins around in tye witing plugs as they are in a different order. Also the r8 and 2.0t coils are a lot taller than 1.4t so your engine cover either can't be refitted, or you put spacers on the mounts for it. You should also use the r8/2.0t coil mounting kit made for the 1.4t bg various manufacturers, as it bolts to the head of the 1.4 and makes the r8/2.0t coils fit as if they were in a there native heads. Rtmg sell them i believe.

    • @FourRingsAuto

      It's a rubber piece that goes inside the end of the tube. Sometimes it is still of the pipe on the inlet that you pull it off of. If you don't have it it won't seal. You can't use a hose clamp on it!
