So good to see any Reactor pay tribute to this great Man. It’s been quite disturbing that channels have not been blowing up to Honor the Great Jeff Beck!
Indeed. People who should have been all over it have ghosted the whole event. Pretty sad.
@@greggary7217 most of the reactors have no clue who Jeff Beck is.
@@sixslinger9951 Unfortunately its not just reactors, I know hardcore zeppelin fans who have never listened to a single song by him lmao which is ironic considering Jeff was instrumental in Jimmy Pages developing style. Just listen to Jeff Beck Group - Truth (1968), came out a year before LZ's debut album and you can hear so much of where Jimmy Page got his style. But hey as long as people like us who appreciate his music are here nothing else matters! RIP to the maestro
Agreed!
One of the GOATs of rock guitar. His first album (after the Yardbirds) in 1969 The Jeff Beck Group, “TRUTH” was amazing (with Rod Stewart as his vocalist).
Jeff Beck was so unique. He could literally play any genre of music he wanted to.
I wore out Blow by Blow when I first bought it, and I could always picture Freeway Jam playing on top of a video of a traffic jam from anywhere in the world. Rest In Peace, Jeff.
Beck could do any genre of music, jazz fusion, heavy rock, a genius and a perfectionist
6 times i saw him live...
He was so incredible...
Miss him so much...
R.I.P. Mr Jeff Beck
The legend known as George Martin produced this. No question it would sound incredible.
This was at the height of the jazz/rock fusion brief era and of course, Beck mastered it!
Great reaction, this whole album is a fantastic eargasm with headphones. In the 70's I'd smoke a few Bongs and jam to this, it never got old.
The master of fusion rock. This album is one of my favorite albums of all time. His band on this album and the next album wired are phenomenal. I always listened to this album on my stereo with headphones. The only way to listen.
This album was produced by George Martin. Quite a departure from the Beatles to jazz fusion. Milestone album for Jeff. Together with School Days by Stanley Clarke, it was my gateway to jazz.
George Martin produced this album. He had previously produced The Beatles but had also produced the Mahavishnu Orchestra which is why Jeff requested him. I loved growing up in the 70's getting to hear all this stuff when it was new.
You're perfectly right about the way everything is done to catch all that the musicians do : the album (like the next one) was produced by George Martin, former producer of the Beatles (his nickname was "the fifth beatle"). When you have great musicians like these ones, you need to render every detail. They deserve it.
Great tune to drive to....🎸🎸🎸🎸🙏RIP JEFF🙏
The whole album, Blow by Blow will blow your mind
His version She's a Woman is great too.
I saw Jeff Beck for the last time a few years ago he was on a tour with Ann Wilson and Paul Rogers, very unique and one of the greatest guitarists ever.
Still can't believe Jeff's gone. He was so youthful for his age.
Blow by Blow is one of the top 10 guitar albums of all time, however it's probably top 10 drumming, bass and keyboard albums as well. As a player he was uncopyable, RIP Jeff Beck.
In Honor & Memory Of Him,, Rod Stewart & Jeff Beck "People Get Ready" (Official Music Video)..R.I.P. Jeff..Thanks For ALL You Gave Us.🙏❤
There's a live version of this and at the start Jeff and the keyboard player take turns making car horn impressions on the Freeway.
Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group…I have that on vinyl.
Great album, but too short.
Back in the late 1970's when I was in college, I used the song "Freeway Jam" by Jeff Beck as the music for a short film I made for a class. Got an A for my efforts. I would like to thank Mr. Beck for all of his efforts. When I finally saw him live, on a double bill with Carlos Santana no less, he played this song. And CRUSHED it. Thanks Jeff. R.I.P..
I saw that gig too.Badass!! Greek Theater......
This album was recorded at the tail end of the quadrophonic 8 track tape era. That back and forth effect is a remnant of quadrophonic audio engineering.
50 years ago, Jeff Beck walked away from Fame and Stardom to follow his Muse....She led him to Incredible Musical Landscapes and he developed a Musical Sound that was All his Own. We will miss you Jeff, but Thank You for following your own path and taking us along. A Life Well Lived!
This. I respect Jeff Beck for many things but above all else was his absolute refusal to bend to convention, money or popularity even. The man played his music on his terms. Always. RIP to a true guitar hero.
Now listen to " Cause we ended as lovers " the ENTIRE album THERE AND BACK !!! Incredible. With Jan Hammer on keyboards and Simon Phillips on drums.
I could be wrong but I believe George Martin produced this record, he also did the Beatles. I also got this record as a young teenager. Had no clue who Jeff Beck was I liked the front cover. I still have that record, literally one of my all time favorites RIP Jeff Thanks for a wonderful catalog of music.
I thank my lucky stars I was able to see this legend 3 times live
Jeff Beck continues to rock!
You guys know the score.
Your awe was impressive!
Fun review of one very fine and unique musician.
God Bless you Jeff Beck.
Great song, the live version w/Jan Hammer group is fire
A Great..This album is what turned on a young teen me to become a lifelong Jeff Beck fan.. R.I.P. Jeffrey ❤
At an old job of mine I would play in my office Blow By Blow, and Wired by Beck since both albums are instrumentals. It never failed to amaze my co-workers how great he was.
RIP legend 🙏
A Top 5 All Time guitarist and super musical talent showing his new direction on that incredible album. For a good look at this legend see his signature tune, Beck's Bolero at his Rock n Roll HoF Induction ceremony, he has Jimmy Page come up and they do a snarling bit of Immigrant Song in the middle. The video is amazing, well worth searching for. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Heard this over 40 years ago still amazes me to this day'
Jeff Beck was the Guvnor on the Electric Guitar!
absolutely love his Music.
he sure was a man on a mission RIP JB🎸
Great tune. There is a much better (IMO) version Live with the Jan Hammer Group 1976. Epic.
If I *had* to pick just *one* favorite guitarist, Jeff would be the one. Especially during this period. "Wired" is even better, imo.
I’ve loved the“Wired” album since I bought it many years ago (on cassette tape). But I’ve always loved “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers”, “Blue Wind”, “Led Boots”, “Beck’s Bolero”, “Shapes Of Things” “I Ain’t Suspicious”, and “Greensleeves” as among my favorites all time. Jeff’s version of “Greensleeves” may be the most beautiful piece of music in recorded history.
The late great Phil Chen on that bad ass bass! RIP to Phil and Jeff
This man’s music was amazing I am so sad he is gone
That "fluttering back and forth" is called panning. Fun to use when mixing tracks. I use it a lot.
Phil Chen on Bass, Max Middleton on Keyboards, Richard Bailey on Drums.
A few things to consider when you go back to listen to this or anything else on the album...the side-to-side thing in your headphones is the Fender Rhodes 73 key piano as played through the Rhodes amp. It does that oscillation left and right that is so interesting. This is being played by one of the absolute freakin' MASTERS of the Rhodes, Max Middleton. His fills and bridges are just brilliant!! Just an awesome touch. Notice too, the time signature changes and the para, triple and quad-diddles the drummer is throwing...absolutely stupid talent!! I'm glad you kids enjoyed this old school jam from back in my day. One last thing: it's called "Freeway Jam" for a reason. If you play this in the car, there is NO WAY you can possibly drive fast enough to groove with the tune. I know, I've tried it.
The last song on this record was written by Stevie Wonder. It's called, "Because we ended as lovers". It is a bit slower and heartfelt and features an orchestra in the background, but the strong emotions that Jeff was able to bring out of his guitar are just jaw-dropping. You can hear the sorrow and pain...I dare you not to tear-up just a little bit. Give it a try sometime. It's beautiful!
His best...IMO! THANKS!! 👍❤🤙
Go Niners. 💛❤😎
There is only one way to listen to Jeff Beck... F'n LOUD!
That’s some great driving music.
Jeff Beck played in YARDBIRDS, FACES, JEFF BECK GROUP, BECK BOGART AND APIECE, AND SOLO WITH MANY OTHERS!!!! ROD STEWART SANG ON JEFF BECK GROUP'S ALBUMS🎸🎶🎸🎵🎸🎶🎸
Some consider his Wired and Blow By Blow records to be standards in the fusion genre. ANYTHING from those two records is absolutely amazing! Grew up with this music in the 70's and IT NEVER GETS OLD, I'm just more amazed each time I listen to it bc I discover new bits and peices I didn't hear before........ so, so much going on in these tracks. RIP Jeff Beck and thank you for the music you left us.
I was a teen in the 70s also & saw Jeff in concert two times...When you grow up om this quality of music it makes it very hard to find great new music. In the last 30 years I didn't find much & had pretty much given up and just listened to 'my' time tested stuff. In the last few years my interest has been reignited after hearing-seeing my first Tom song & finding all of the bearded rappers.
🎤🎧🎶
Well, this whole album was produced by Sir George Martin (of Beatles history). So that's partly why it sounds so good.
Good to see people reacting to JB, IMO the greatest all around guitarist I've ever known about. I can't see another coming along like him any time soon, he was so unique.
Now you're talkin'!😎
Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer tour and YEA, the sound system was quad inside our hall, I don`t know about your particular venue people... and is there any other way to enjoy a good jam then with sound engineer muffs on so KEEP on rockin & giddyup Wolf HunterZ...
Just a quick Jeff Beck history. His career was jump started when he played along side his friend Jimmy Page in The Yardbirds after Eric Clapton had left the group.
Another one of those tunes that I refer to as "a prelude to a speeding ticket"...
Magnificent music
R.i.p to a guitar Legend JEFF BECK
Remember, every blues-jazz fan's lover's album, totally well produced / a top 10 album in US. At that time I was working part-time in a record shop on Friday afternoons and Saturdays.
I'm excited about the R&R Hall Of Fame performance with a short appearance with Jimmy Page 2009: Bolero+Immigrant Song, and at the end 8 VIP Guitarists+ Metallica with Train Kept A Rollin', really R%R epic.
Thanks. Bout time that one got reacted to. Star Cycle is a must. Way ahead of it's time.😉
Beast !
Got it going in surround :)
R.I.P. Jeff Beck
Check out going down, with cozy Powell on the drums.
First Jeff Beck piece I ever heard.
I agree with the mix the separation of the drums with the deeper toms in the left everything else in the right same with the keys
Smokin'
Amazong guitar player he was ❤
R..P. Jeff Beck. While your at it listening to him. Listen to Stratus, Led boots or Nadia too.
Beck, Bogart & Apiece do a great "Going' Down"💋
Excellent, and thank you! Now, may I recommend the song Brush With The Blues. There are videos of several different live performances, but my favorite is from the video: Brush With the Blues Loose Cannon - Jeff Beck (Montreux Jazz Festival 2001)
Check out "hello Jeff: by Stanley Clarke.
RIP Jeff Beck
George Martin was the producer...yeah the Beatles producer...yep THAT guy. Thanks for this!
Time for some Weather Report... "Teen Town"
❤❤❤
It’s hard to believe that music is almost 50 years old isn’t it? Tell me…who is alive on planet earth today who could make music like this organically, without auto tune and all the other processing garbage that takes the soul out of the composition?
This was the absolute pinnacle of a lost era. I only wish you could have been there.
🙏
There can be only 0ne. That 0ne was Jeff Beck.
Roger the Engineer (U.S.: Over Under Sideways Down)
Beatles producer George Martin was the master behind this album
If you are not listening to this by 4 Yamaha speakers, you're really missing out. Around and round ,commin at you from the front. If possible, listen to albums. The 16 tracks and the engineering. Nothing better.
R.I.P. 🎸
Original Yardbird member
R.i.p Jeff beck
Loved the electric piano, presumably a Fender Rhodes, bouncing from left to right in the ear, um, goggles, played by the great Max Middleton, who was in the Jeff Beck Group Mk. II. Comping beautifully. The legendary Bernard Purdie on drums, most famous, maybe, for the Purdie Shuffle, and being a go-to Steely Dan. Thanks again, cheers 🍻 👏🏼 ✌🏼 😊❤
Should have used the live version.
Produced bt George Martin, Blow by Blow is the best Jeff Beck album ever. Phil Chen on bass by the way has never sounded better.
👍
Luv that u luv this track, but not sure u realise Jeff passed on 12/1/23. For the rest of us it's very sad..
Alot of these speakers don't catch the music the way it was meant to be heard
I think Sir George Martin did the production.... just like he did with the Beatles and the Police
1.Jimi 2.Duane 3.Jeff
Not surprising ya'll were blown away by the production.....George Martin at the controls
Now do Blue Wind from his follow-up album named Wired. 🎧
Try Women of Ireland, full of emotion
Who mixed and mastered this, you ask? Why none other than Sir George Martin the Beatles' longtime producer.
See you later Jeff.
Check out live version from the albumjeff beck and jan hsmmrr live iys, mote heavirr
George Martin 👍🏻🔥🔥🔥
All the other good musicians were there to help the drummer show off .
Usually in most bands the drummer stealing the show is frowned upon. Like cool your jets pal your girlfriend ain't here today.
Do yourself a favor you guys. Do Scatterbrain and Diamond Dust. The best 2 on the LP>
you mention Jeff Beck and Vanilla Ice in the same sentence?? Blasphemy
