I'd hate my job too if I were him: 1. he has to deal with the miner's (aka. our) BS all the time, listening to "MUSHROOM MUSHROOM" with no end 2. at the same time, management is breathing down his neck constantly 3. he is shown to actually care about miners (for example when you promote a dwarf), but he is OBLIGATED to leave us to die should a mission go haywire. He has to doom his own colleagues, who he has worked with for years
That's fantasy and unrealistic one, but since the time Karl was left behind a lot of time passed, and during death scenes you're not dead, you're just heavily injured. And even in horrible companies like DRG they still care about skilled miners and that's why they actually send squads to get dwarves out. But mission control has worse job than miners that's for sure. But I don't think that he is forced to doom his "colleagues" is true because if dwarves are cloned they wouldn't comment their previous mission

Mission Control gives me Squidward vibes with how he acts like a depressed man who feels life has passed him by, but deep inside truly cares for those he’s so cold with. I mean just look at how upset he is during the Rockpox Campaigns. He genuinely is sad and upset at how many dwarves he’s essentially sent to die or had to leave to die. To the point he pleads with your dwarf to get home safe when the assignment is nearing its climax. He’s a middle-aged man with a broken spirit, but he’s one that cares for his underlings, no matter how aggravating, lazy, petty, and frankly, stupid, they can be.
The best one is when you are second to last mission and he says "assignment completed, wait never mind this one is long"

damn, i never really thought about that, i weren't really hating on mission control, but i really liked annoying him
For I what I understood, dwarfs die, but have backup memorys to be implemented into clones, so dwarves kinda never die
