- Опубликовано: 30 сен 2024
- Rules:
1. Only my starter in battle
2. No items in battle, except held items
3. No glitches, exploits, or save states
4. No movepool evasion-boosting moves before level 100*
Rule details:
-- I make no attempt to have the exact same rule details between generations.
-- I am allowed to manipulate my starter
-- I play the game at 4x game speed
-- For fair comparisons my Pokemon have perfect (or near perfect) DVs / IVs
-- I am allowed to catch HM users - I can use all field moves
-- Evasion boosting is allowed if the move is not obtained from the Pokemon’s movepool. For example, using Mimic or Mirror Move to boost evasion is allowed.
-- Surge's trash-can-puzzle is automatically solved
-- The bike is allowed in gen1 & 4, banned in gen2, and allowed only to bypass terrain in gen3
-- Saving between league members is allowed
-- I can pause the game and timer to take breaks
-- Items obtained with the ability Pickup can only be used if the starter obtained them
-- The footage is sped up & slowed down to match the pace of my narration
These Rule details apply only to generation 1:
-- All battle-mechanic glitches are allowed (glitches that occur outside of battle are banned)
-- In generation 1, I'm allowed to skip Marowak with the Poke Doll
If you didn’t read these rules and left a comment. Thanks for helping with the algorithm.

If you're new around here, Venomoth is a Psychic/Flying type, you can't change my mind.
Another month of Scott. don't burn yourself out King
31:02 “Bruno is terrifying” 31:08 “this might be the most difficult battle in the game.”
What a character arc Bruno has gone on, truly an example of how anyone can improve themselves.
A reminder that it took Aerodactyl three generations, equalling 6 years of existence, to learn Rock Slide, a move it gets STAB from that was released at the same time as it did.
And it took it four, for a total of 10 years, to learn it naturally.
And to add insult to injury, Lance's Aerodactyl learned it in Gen 2 lol
The irony is that Double Edge with 120 Power is actually stronger than STAB Rock Slide. That is until it got Stone Edge.
@@shadowtitanx3962but Rock Slide can be super effective.
Game Freak up to this day in Gen 9 still have a serious issue with movesets and moves, there are still many types lacking good and consistent STABs. It's something that would really really easy to fix but Physical Ghost, Ice, Psychic and Electric moves and Special Rock, Fighting and Flying moves are still lacking despite some options creeping up but with low distribution rates or sometimes Pokémon exclusivity
@@ShadowtheRUclipsr523 by that logic, this point applies to every pokemon game
I actually think pressure would've been slightly more useful here. You never made use of a recoil move and blastoise could've maybe been stalled out of hydro pumps
Yep. Pressure would have technically done something, while rock head did literally nothing.
@@chrisdaignault9845 Pressure would have added time, since it has to display the "Aerodactyl is exerting its Pressure" message in every battle
@@lookingglass4422 I'm not sure that message happens in gen 3. Could be wrong though.
I thought that Scott was going to get double edge in victory road. I would’ve replaced wing attack with it
Once again, I think he should’ve Double Edge.
A Scott video right as I'm going to bed. Gonna be sleeping so good tonight with this on by my side.
Well he released it at noon for himself....
10:52 Pokémon Red and Green came out in Japan first. The Red and Blue we have here is based on the Japanese Blue with the JP Red/Green’s available Pokémon.
Supposedly Firered/Leafgreen were made because Ruby and Sapphire had no backwards compatibility (because Nintendo had no hardware support to connect GBC and GBA games) so only 200 out of the possible 386 Pokémon were available in those games. To alleviate the missing of almost half the Pokémon, these remakes as well as the Gamecube games have been packed with Pokémon that are not obtainable in Ruby and Sapphire.
I think more than a hardware issue, it was an issue of DVs and stat xp vs. IVs and EVs.
Don't you mean.. SCARE-O-DACTYL?
1:03 Venomoth arrow is hilarious. I laughed for at least a minute!
11:00 huh? I thought DP came out in 2007 and BDSP was 2021
30:31 isnt that whats supposed to happen when you have a substitute up
26:40 you can never flinch Dragonite it has Inner Focus
to go on your little talk about the remake, FRLG was mostly meant as a means to get the older gen games into the third gen, as there wasn't a way to transfer your pokemon from the gameboy to the gameboy advanced for RSE. and yeah....extra time between remakes kinda ruins such.
irc, GSC and its remake, HGSS, was about a decade.
I made it to 39:25. And no Scott, YOU'RE INCREDIBLE!
I don't think I've ever seen this back sprite in any of my playthrus
Love end of Year with Scott's Thoughts
Wait, does Aerodactyl finally get Rock Slide in FireRed? Via tutor, but still?
Yep, it’s not a TM in Gen 3 but FRLG added some of the Gen 1 TM moves back in the form of one-use tutors.
FR/LG coming out after Gen4 would have been post Physical/Special split. Aside from Eevee/Pikachu (which has varying opinions), we do not have a Gen1 game with the "new" Stat mechanics.
If I am forgetting a game, please remind me, Comments section, lol!
11:31 Well, to be fair, HGSS and ORAS were fantastic remakes, including most of what the third versions had, and a lot of the improvements of their respective generations. By comparison, BDPP were... too faithful and not faithful enough. They took away the bases (sure, you technically can still make them, but they are just glorified museums, and not even cool ones), the underground didn't have the mining minigame, and it lacked a lot of the improvements Platinum had, like the rebalance, the new teams, the new content...
Also, the art direction was a mess. Like someone I know said, it seemed like it had two or three art directors, so it lacked a lot of cohesion. And the less we talk about the pokemon models outside of combat, the better. I still haven't forgiven them for what they did to Rayquaza.
I feel substitute should be the next move you ban. In gen 1, double team is "the solution to everything" and was banned. In gen 2 you banned hidden power in your first runs because every hard battle gets a solution. Now in gen 3 you have a move that öets you take moves that would one hit you with only the damage from an initial substitute (for example set up substitue on a weak pokemon and suvive a hydro pump) while also making you immune to stat drops from things like feather dance and intimidate; and also prevents status moves. It should be banned as well.
I think I disagree. Yes, Substitute is becoming a staple strategy, but it feels fundamentally different than the other banned moves. Double Team is luck based cheese, and Hidden Power is a "pick your favorite" move where you customize beyond the "designed intent" of a moveset. Substitute helps a lot with the particular mechanics of the 3rd generation, but it requires skill to use correctly as opposed to Double team, and it provides a defensive utility rather than offensive coverage like Hidden Power.
@@sgtflintlock6904 I disagree with this, because this has more upsides than double team. Just count how opponents get shredded because of this. Only one intimidate on Blane, no intimidate on rival 6 and no feather dance. Agatha becomes meaningless, the rival rematch Gyarados becomes tribal and the list goes on. With double team at least you have to set up 2+ times and you can still be unlucky and get hit. Substitute is 100 % protection till it fades and then you can set it up again
@@FifthPromise I don't think that's a bad thing? I guess I'd rather see a playthrough with Substitute being used than a playthrough where physical attackers have to grind to the point where they can win without it. the 3rd generation really lays it on thick with the stat debuffs and status moves, so having Substitute to allow counterplay if you need it seems like a very nice quality of life option imo.
@@sgtflintlock6904 it skews the result to favor Pokemons that otherwise wouldn't be ble to finish with those times. Would Aerodactyl finish third overall so far without substitute? Of course not. At least do what was done with hidden power and have one go without it so it is shown what a pokemon is capable of when facing the opponents without what basically is a free win, then in the follow up attempts, let it be legal.
For comparison, how much faster would some Pokemons be able to finish in yellow if double team were allowed. Gengar would likely suddenly be nr 1/2 because what holding it back is the fact that hypnosis is to unreliable.
So are you advocating for one move to be banned in each generation? Serious question
The lack of ability to trade Pokemon from gen I and gen II games into gen III made FRLG and later HGSS necessities. Though I suppose they could have put all the missing Pokemon in Colosseum or XD.
The question is: why is it Iron Tail, but Steel Wing? They're both Steel in Italian..
Looks like it just so happened that steel is acciaio and both tail and wing end in -a so they merge nicely into codacciaio and alacciaio. The real question is: why is Iron Tail called in English even in Japanese (Aian Teeru) whereas Steel Wing has a Japanese name (Hagane no Tsubasa)? And why does Google mistransliterate as wa ga ne despite fully well knowing はがね is steel? 🤔🤔
Is there a reason to stick to wing attack instead of aerial ace ? I mean, more PP, sure, but ignoring acc. Checks sound tempting.
Only love for your content Scott 🤙
Protip: Post pictures of your cat with the games you still own!
Venomoth Fact #43: The main reason why Aerodactyl got Rock Slide in generation 3 was because Venomoth personally invited themselves to Satoshi Tajiri's office and kindly reqested that he stop butchering one of their children from millions of years ago.
What if you replaced Rock Slide with Sunny Day, so you could still one-shot the Heracross with Wing Attack, and hit Eggy for Super Effective damage, while still trying to counteract Blastoise's Rain?
“Agatha is really annoying. I’m not able to one shot any of her Pokémon.” Proceeds to one shot Crobat 😂😂
the Venomoth lore deepens. a real innovation, going beyond its legendary type changing. who knew it was actually a fossil! what an absolutely true fact!
other interesting facts about Venomoth: it is a legendary, a mythical, a starter Pokemon, the divergent final evolution of Caterpie, technically a dog, a dragon, a pseudolegendary, an Ultra Beast, and it has a secret, hidden Mega form only present in the unreleased, elusive Pokemon Star, a ROM of which someone posted on GameFaqs, but the post was deleted by mods after two hours.
I feel like your best answer for the champion was to teach fly instead of wing attack. So that way, you can consistently knock out the heracross. And if you had the pressure, ability, your opponents will get their PP drained faster since they can't hit you and you get a bit of leftovers healing for free.
I have always assumed the "reason" the fossils did not get Rock moves initially is that they are not naturally Rock types, and only have the secondary type because, well, they were revived from
...a rock. I doubt that this has ever been confirmed/denied officially, though?
Spookie month time.
Couldn't you just PP stall against the Blastoise? I assume enemy trainers don't have max PP, so Hydro Pump only has 5, with Pressure it means it can only use it 3 times before running out
Thanks Scott you’re my favorite Pokémon content creator been a fan for years keep up the good work
130sp is always an overkill, also mid learnset and slow growth rate. I don't it's gonna be a good performance
@Scott’s Thoughts when u do omastar video can u show the gen 1 front sprite for omastar briefly it’s so sassy and I love it
Something decent again for boring cold nights, cheers pal, hope you're still enjoying doing the vids
4:40 Omg no way, today's FireRed's 20th birthday in Europe!
I think the diamond and pearl remakes were just way too faithful to the “make the games with the modern engine” formula. Half the complaints are because of things that were also in the originals and the other half are things that come from the modern engine. But then there was literally no other way to remake them short of creating a game engine specific to the remakes. Which tbh was just legends arceus now that I think about it lol.
Dude made videos for next year back in January. Scott is a machine!
Good to see character growth from Aerodactyl and Bruno, truly a wholesome video
Did they make a fossil type in Too Many Types? Or does Ancient count as that :)?
Sufficient pressure will always shorten the amount of PP you can use before needing a rest
Aerodactyl?!?! The dragon type fossil that Lance uses???
You shoul've named him Terry cause in some generations he's Terry-ble
Inaccurate: Unlike in gen 1, it has to recharge on subsequent turns.
Accurate: Unlike in gen 1, it has to recharge on KO turns.
Its cool to see how much better both Bruno and Aridactal have gotten sence generation one.
1:02 arrow changed
8:36 perfect run ends here, F in the chat Press F to pay respects

Reach back out to your old friend!!! You're an adult now
Ooh, a new video this soon already? What a fine start to the Venomoth Month.
im currius if there where some sandstorm strats for final fights.
Been needing some content to watch while grinding
Venomoth the fossil type Pokémon 😂😂😂😂
Finally an aerodactyl with a good rock move
Hi Scott, as abilities make interactions in gen 3 and beyond more complex to keep track of in the moment, I wonder if this would be a good time to add dynamic UI elements to highlight when an interaction is active. Some examples: highlighting contact abilities when the opponent has a contact-triggered ability, highlighting torrent/swarm/overgrow/blaze when your HP is below the threshold, greying out moves when the opponent is immune to them due to their ability. I know it means more UI work, but I think it would be helpful for everyone, and should be at least partially forward-compatible as all subsequent gens have abilities and very few if any abilities are deprecated between generations.
That might work for live playthroughs but for 4xspeed videos, probably not.
Aerodactyl needs Head Smash and or Brave Bird
Halloween Month starts with my Birthday and one of my favourite Pokemon :)

Great
A few weeks ago, I wanted to use Aerodactyl for my Pokemon Stadium team. Imagine my surprise and dismay when I found out that it didn't get rock slide. Then I wanted to add it in Pokemon Stadium 2. I was even more surprised to see that it STILL couldn't learn rock slide. I actually yelled "GAME FREAK, WHAT THE HECK WHERE YOU GUYS THINKING (or not thinking)?!?!?!😂
🍞
First?
don’t quote me, but i’m fairly sure that ancient power only has the chance for omniboost IF it doesn’t KO the opponent
