- Make a super affordable cat litter box system using biodegradable pine pellets. The puppy pads I referred to in the video are Member's Mark Pet Training Pads 120 ct
Amazon # B016YPTY24.
One trick... Put the puppy pad on the floor, then put the breeze system on top of the puppy pad. Grab the 4 corners of the puppy pad around the breeze container and then insert it into the home Depot tote. It works better that way.
I use binder clips to keep the puppy pad in place.
Brilliant! Thank you
Love it! Easy peasy! Now realize I need the Breeze XL for my jumbo cat.
Thank you so much! i was having issues with it puddling as well and was about to buy a new litter box. This will solve my issue and save me money.
Thank you for giving me the idea of carving out the bottom. This solved my problem of the pee puddles.
Thanks for sharing a new way to set this up.
I'm hoping someone will start selling a compatible, closed bottom with the cat latches that is just flat without the drawer 🤞 anyone know a plastics manufacturer?
Have you found any yet? I’m needing one the size of the Breeze XL, with high sides with a bottom like that.
Anyone know of a bottom container that will fit the breeze XL? One that isn’t too high- but high enough. It’s so big, don’t want it really high and unstable.
Thank you very much!
Great 👍 idea 💡 I'll try this out.
This works great and thank you for the extra tip. No, I didn’t trim it at first but soon found out why I needed to cut the ledge. I have been unable to purchase the husky heavy duty tote, I checked Home Depot and online retailers. Do you know of another tote that is as heavy duty and deep? Thanks again
I appreciate this.
Thank you.
It seems that Husky stopped making that tote. I have looked everywhere and I can't find it online or in person. I also can't seem to find another tote that can be a replacement for the Husky tote. :(
Hello Mike! Great video!
Would this work for a large cat, like 18 lbs?
Also, what size is the storage box you use underneath to collect the sawdust?
I'm wanting to switch over to this system as I now have two litter boxes vs one (added a second cat to the family) and I am REALLY noticing all of the dust from my clay litter. It's so dusty and hard to breathe and I can't imagine how it's affecting my cats. If you'd let me know as soon as you can, that would be great. I want to get this asap. I am going to get two since I have two cats- just need to know if it would work size-wise. Thank you!
great job thansk!
What tool are you using to cut the piece out? Yes. The pee and the dust lays in there and then gets to stink. I am having that issue. I can't find the Husky heavy duty tote. Do you think any tote that is 10 gallon will work?
I couldn’t get the top to latch on the bottom either. I’ll try again.
Thank you.
Helpful video! Thanks so much! I was wondering where you got the scissors for cutting the plastic pan?
Those are "tin snips". They are made for metal. They are about $10 at Home Depot.
As flower37075 has pointed out, Husky has stopped manufacturing that tote. Can you recommend any other with those dimensions? Obviously, the dimensions are very important to make the fit work. Any ideas?
Yes, I'm wondering the same thing. I tried to find that Husky 10 gal. tote, with no luck. I saw a hefty, Rubbermaid, stuff like that. Please help me.
There's a woman who gives dimensions on another video. I think it was 15x18 and 5 inches deep.
@@angelarasmussen1800 Thanks for the reply. If you stop the video, the dimensions are 24.0 W x 15.6 L x 16.2 H. I would like to see the other video if it is anything other than Husky because they obviously, don't manufacturer them any longer. Thank you.
@@silverunplugged her dimensions for not for the Husky been but for another been I don't remember the name. I think I liked his fit better so maybe her Dimensions don't work as well
Can you substitute a different 10 gal. tote? Husky doesn't make that anymore.
I'm sorry to hear they are not making that box anymore. It's the perfect size. Just try to find one the green thing will fit well in. I will measure it tomorrow and post it in this message.
I don't mess with the puppy pads--- just empty it a little more often and I COMPOST mine-- so I just take it out and pour it around my roses-- then throw some "potting soil" or " miracle grow" dirt in on top of it--- and I squirt the inside of the box with my sprayer that has WATER- with a few spoons of VINEGAR in it-- and let it air dry -- it will evaporate quickly!! if you STILL get smell-- then put a little layer of the potting soil in the bottom first-- and you can let it go longer with NO smell... compost it all-- makes BEAUTIFUL roses... !!! Then spritz it with the vinegar/water mix and let it air dry.. (NO PADS-- no muss, no stink= and beautiful roses)
I did wonder if the sawdust waste can be used for mulch. It has such a nice consistency. I could try mixing it with potting soil. My concern is will it attracts ants, other bugs or feral cats.
I guess I got lucky with my cats urine not puddling. I get to use the box as is with no puppy pad or any pad in the drawer I just shake the box every morning and pull out the drawer and empty out the sawdust in the trash. As for #2 I just scoop that right up before the cats destroy the log trying to bury it 🤣
What tool did you use to cut the box, looks effortless
That my question too. I am having trouble cutting the plastic.
Aviation snips.

Unfortunately the puppy pad is not eco friendly at all and contains plastic. I use pine pellets with a sifting box without any pads and I clean and empty as I go. I saw this other lady on RUclips using this system , it’s just not very earth friendly with all this plastic on the bottom that gets thrown away in another plastic bag.
Was thinking the same thing. If they are worried about smell, I would put some baking soda in the bottom part to mix with the sawdust that falls through. No need for a puppy pad. Unnecessary extra expense and plastic.
I use the bottom box recommended by the original creator of this system but with a 13 gallon trash bag instead of a puppy pad I thought it was easier and more eco friendly
That was my question. Could you use that newspaper that comes in the mail? Or trash bags, and slyly that at least be cheaper.
That litter box is for small cats.
they have xl now
My large male Siamese uses this size. Of course when he gets the zoomies IN the catbox, he ends up scattering a bunch of pellets onto the floor lol
Does this system contain the smell?
No. But it does pretty good if you keep it clean. Especially the poop, it does nothing for the poop you got to get rid of that right away. I empty it completely once a week. it saves a lot of money and cat litter if you're buying expensive litter but honestly if you're concerned about smell or you don't have a place where you can keep it isolated from the rest of your house, then it may not be for you. When I posted this video it was basically just to try to make people aware of what's available. I mean I was spending like $40 a month on cat litter now I'm spending about three...
And it's completely 100% flushable down the toilet. So we just keep it in the back bathroom and scoop out the poop and flush it right down the toilet and it doesn't matter if some of the pellets get in there at all.

Gotta love the nose breathing 😂😂
Once again, it was windy and my friend was using his phone to video. 😂
The system's not perfect by any means but it is very affordable.
the pee pad i don't see what that is needed just extra trash
Cat urine can leach into the plastic and ruin the bin really quickly. It will start to stink. The sawdust is usually moist so it can be messy. The pad makes for easy cleanup & I usually wipe the bin down with a Clorox wipe because condensation from the urine will sometimes form.
Hum interesting. I use the same pellets and a stainless steel box non sifting box. . Saw dust is always dry. I sift every 3 days. Wow that same bag of Millard Creek cost me 5.50 in Northern Cal. Happy sifting 😺
@@cathiestuart3790 Hi i got it off amazon Primio stainless steel litter box
Your shirt is the same color as the Breeze sifting tray. Are you sure you’re not a professional RUclipsr? Chuckle 🙂.
If you dont cut it like he did, and you dont clean it it will start to smell really bad. Fair warning
Yes it does I just snipped it tonight 😆
