L'AUTEUR | Robert de Boron
Robert de Boron (XIIIe siècle) est un poète français, originaire du village de Boron, près de Delle. Il est connu pour sa trilogie de poèmes (Joseph d'Arimathie, Merlin, Perceval). Elle raconte les débuts de l'histoire du Graal et relie cette légende indépendante avec la légende arthurienne, en utilisant la figure prophétique de Merlin, avec sa connaissance du passé et de l'avenir, comme lien de connexion.
Robert de Boron (flourished 13th century) was a French poet, originally from the village of Boron, near Delle. He was known for his trilogy of poems (Joseph d’Arimathie, Merlin, Perceval). It told the early history of the Grail and linked this independent legend more firmly with Arthurian legend, using the prophetic figure of Merlin, with his knowledge of past and future, as the connecting link.
LE MODERATEUR | Patrick Moran
Patrick Moran est professeur associé de littérature médiévale à UBC. Son premier livre, Lectures cycliques (Honoré Champion, 2014), traite des cycles romanesques consacrés au roi Arthur. Il a récemment publié un second ouvrage sur la fantasy contemporaine (The Canons of Fantasy, Cambridge University Press, 2019) ainsi qu’une traduction en français moderne de la Mort du roi Arthur anonyme du XIIIe siècle (La Mort le roi Artu, Droz, 2021). Il est aussi l’auteur de trois romans de fantasy publiés en France aux éditions Mnémos (La Crécerelle, 2018 ; Les Six Cauchemars, 2020 ; Metalya entre les mondes, 2022).
Patrick Moran is Associate Professor of Medieval Literature at UBC. His first book, Lectures cycliques (Honoré Champion, 2014), deals with the novelistic cycles devoted to King Arthur. He has recently published a second book on contemporary fantasy (The Canons of Fantasy, Cambridge University Press, 2019) and a modern French translation of the anonymous 13th-century Death of King Arthur (La Mort le roi Artu, Droz, 2021). He is also the author of three fantasy novels published in France by Mnémos (La Crécerelle, 2018; Les Six Cauchemars, 2020; Metalya entre les mondes, 2022).
