Thought I'd pop back in now I've had these for a few months.
Apparently most BT cans are class D, but these are class AB.
The power and glory of these 'phones continues to amaze me. Effortless power and a fantastic v shaped sound. Kinda homeless at the moment, but I have a Bluesound Node N130 stashed under the mates couch I'm sleeping on and a pair of OG Kennerton Valis. DAC and german class A headamp are still in the ex's custody, but the Valis are super easy to drive, and aren't losing much straight from Node.
Head to head the big Yammy's have more extension at both ends, and the hand made Russian set certainly can't compete in the sub bass, despite the Kennerton's having some of the punchiest mid bass around when required. Treble on the E600s is really well done and they don't pretend to be neutral. Soundstage is a more or less even, but after that the timbre and texture of the Valis wins the day. Everything sounds right, with nice warmth and a polite treble.

I have both the sony xm4 & the yamaha. I find the sony more practical with better ANC but I got the yamaha for its sound signature. I listen to classical music and the yamaha sound signature brings out the nuances of symphonic orchestra in a more differentiated way. The bass does not drown out the other frequencies. It is more like having a sub woofer and also hearing the different instruments - woodwinds - strings in a more differentiated way. I also enjoy the vocal rendering. The yamaha is larger than the sony - 100gms heavier but I have no issues with wearing them. The passive noise cancellation is better on the yamaha & the anc is made in conjunction with music immersion. When I am listening to music with anc on it drowns out the sounds of the neighboring house being demolished. With no music on the sony anc works better. Amazon is offering the yamaha at a substantial discount but the first pair I got had a battery defect. The present one works fine. Personally I like what Yamaha is doing - bringing in ANC but not compromising the sound but rather creating a more immersive space.

Oh, absolutely! I like that they've ensured the sound isn't affected much with the ANC on. It does sound more musical than the XM4. Especially if you listen to more nuanced genres of music like classical. I've been meaning to do a comparison for ages but haven't gotten down to doing it yet. I'm thinking of comparing these two with the JBL Tour One M2. Something tells me I'll like the Yamaha over the other two on a sound front.

I said to the girls in the vape shop this morning, 'My headphones are too big'. One of them agreed.
I got the black ones yesterday. Love the design. Shape of the cups is simular too the Sony Z7 I had back in the day. Almost as enormous too lol.
My ears get squeezed a little which becomes uncomfortable over time.
Was gonna get the IE200, which would have been much more natural than these Yamahas.
I was shocked by the bass haha. The sub bass is unlike anything I've heard. Engaging the app options increases the bass lol. Midrange is uneven.
    Cool review.

🤣 That opening line sent me! Yea, I still can't believe that Yamaha has tuned these to be as bass enthusiastic as it is. All their other stuff doesn't sound anything like this. I usually keep ANC off and the listening care off. It seems to sound a little less aggressive there after I do that.
I haven't heard the IE200, but knowing sennheiser and IEMs, yea, it would be truer sounding than these.

@@PaulsPOV yeah the ANC mode seems to boost the treble. Alters the bass too. Basically you get two different FRs.
They sound clinical, or hollow in the midrange, but I'm not sure anything out there wireless or otherwise delivers such a big, hard hitting, rumbling dynamic sound. You can get away with some distortion in the bass, I mean it's a little loose. These remind me of the gigantic Sony XB950BTs I had years ago , before I shunned Bluetooth, but they look and sound better. Bombastic lol.

Hi Paul, that was a great detailed review! I saw you reviewed E7B in another video. This year, yamaha tw-e3c was released around Feb 2023. Are you going to review it soon someday? thx. P.s. Thinking whether to buy between Yamaha tw-e3c or Yamaha TW-E5B during sale.

I dont think the E3C is being launched here in India so I won't be able to get my hands on one for review. The E3C will most likely be better value for money compared to the E5B. I have found my self preferring the E3B over the E5B for that very reason.

Sir JBL Tune beam vs Realme Air5 pro which would you suggest

    • @PaulsPOV

I prefer the JBL. It's got a more fun sounding presentation than the Realme. If it's features that's your priority, the Realme is the way to go.

I found them on a large sales house for only 149€ here in Germany. The average price is around 200€. Not cheap I would say.

Oh yea. Not cheap, for sure. It stands up to the Sony XM4 pretty well, except for the ANC. That set does sell for a higher price here.
