This logging and mining is going viral in Rennell island. Stopping the on going activities is very late and now we need to find a way to deal with the negative outcome of these programs. I believe people are more depended on sea resources when there is no land for gardening which lead up to poor food security. So, we need to be ready to help preserve and manage the marine resources of Rennell island. The Government had adopt the SDGs in the policies but yet they look over on what happen on Rennell Island.

Absolutely right people need their natural resources. You are the land owners and the sea owners not foreigners. Govt have no right to invade like that put greedy Chinese mining co to ruin the land and sea with your daily Kai moanas seafood. Time to stop the mining

:( so sad. Logging is the worst thing ! Be careful of not turning into Rapanui which was left without ANY TREES with over logging.

The moral fabric of this island is unravelling fast which is very sad to see.

Hi David, the moral fabric of the whole of the Solomon Islands is unravelling and this is mainly due to the influence of loggers and miners in my opinion. Politicians get tempted by quick money and that corruption ripples down. If the leaders are corrupt everyone below them in the pecking order says "if they are doing it why should I miss out" so it spreads. I doubt that much change and conservation can occur without new leadership and that will be very hard to achieve under present laws. Parliament dissolves Dec 18 and every politician gets a hand out of SBD400,000 to use as they wish. That ensures incumbents remain in power.

If you are in Solomon Islands contact anti miners. Really they need money for court cases. We at OceansWatch are trying to stop mining. projectsforgood.com/projects/473/story
