    Yeah, I feel the Sabateur quest line is leading to our eventual switch to the opposing faction in an upcoming update, it just feels too odd that the commander keeps messing things up, yet isn't blamed for what's going on.

    • @Rewwgh
      @Rewwgh 5 лет назад +45

      I doubt that there will ever be a switch, though it would be very cool. What comes to messing up, I think most people are still worshipping you as a war hero for your earlier faction and then for the Alliance that they do not dare question, they rather believe that Republic/Empire just is really competent. ;D

    • @xLetalis
      @xLetalis  5 лет назад +70

      Yeah... on one hand I'm 99% certain they won't actually allows us to switch sides, or if they do, it would somehow be only in the story. However the fact that they tease us with a dialogue choice to ask for that is interesting!

    • @Rewwgh
      @Rewwgh 5 лет назад +15

      Do they tease it? I think Jonas Balkar sums up my guess of BioWare's thought process perfectly: they don't know either and Commander is way more useful within the enemy ranks than as an open ally according to the respective forces.
      Saboteurs will need to be content with a covert setting. I'm honestly not too keen on this concept as a whole in general, Smugglers and Bounty Hunters feel faction neutral occupation-wise and only Trooper seems acceptable as it rhymes (Lucas style) with the Chapter 1 of his/her story.

    • @kionisua8564
      @kionisua8564 5 лет назад +13

      Yeah idk about fully "switching sides openly", you could do alot of damage undercover, look at Chancellor Palintine, made many plots... till he was discovered.
      Though I understand why folks aren't really happy with this "working in the shadows business" since there are characters who have switched sides openly but it doesn't bother me personally

    God sabotaging the Sith Empire is SO fun. You get to see the Sith Lords pour hundreds of hours into desperate schemes only for you to shoot the control console at the last minute, AND then you get to say "not my fault it was hers" and let them take the fall. To add insult to injury all the Empire can think to do as you beat them is give you more power and weapons. It's so fun

      While fun, it also got a tad boring imo. I think it'd of been better had the Darths in question been... intelligent.
      Savik I had high hopes for until I realized she legit chose the dumbest person as an in. I understood what they were going for but her character falls so flat in understanding tact, let alone leadership.
      Vowrawn was the technical last of the OG Councilers which made me believe him to be a coward since, well- most of the more, shall we say... respected Darths died before the events in the game. He legit just hung back and acted as a seat warmer- one of the major reasons I can never let Acina not be Empress since she has a brain in her skull compared to him.
      Anathel is the definition of filler. Was it not for his history with Xarion, and eventually Darth Nox- I would have expected him dead ages ago- until Zaakul reared their ugly head. Either way him surviving as well as Xarion... and not living up to their rivalry- was a major let down.
      Malora felt wasted to me. Having roots all the way at the start with both Darth Nox and Wrath gave me high hopes as- if she rose while we were doing the same, she could have been a powerhouse on the Council. But no. She got a cool look, given the brain of her old master (and while I get the irony in that, it's done so boringly), and possibly even just flat dead depending on your choices.
      That leaves literally two worthwhile members of the Council- Krovos and the previously mention Xarion. We have a history with Krovos (if you do Kuyat), and Xarion lives (mostly) up to his reputation. Empress Acina makes the Empire at least feel competent, not to mention I believe that, unlike Vowrawn- Acina actually would have had the balls to bring Malgus back as her personal variant of Wrath.

    Yeah, I fully expect all would-be turncoats to get f***ed over by the factions they been secretly helping. Aside from being a repeat of the Agent story, it'll be WAY easier for the developers to just have your contact say: "Well, we decided that we dont need your help anymore, have fun explaining your failures to your bosses!" then actually programming a mechanic to allow a full faction switch. The fact that your sith contact makes it clear hes the ONLY ONE who knows about your defection is pretty damning in that regard...

      I guess the game assumes you will join your faction again no matter what, because the faction is in such a bad state that to them, you NEED to be back to the faction to fix it, so no matter what, the choice is forced on you by your faction, because you are their strongest fighter, and trump card, so if you aren't in the faction, they're screwed. Thankfully, that seems to make it easier to work undercover, and sabotage the faction from the inside.

That's my best guess, and if that's the case, that's actually pretty smart writing by bioware. Thanks for informing me though!

Before finding out who NR-02 was owned to I assumed it was Vowrawn trying to turn my SW against Acina. Part of the reason I refused to rejoin the Empire in the end is that I have better abilities to keep Acina on the throne than Vowrawn. It helps too that I was nice to Malgus in previous expansions, so if he wants to take the throne I’d support him. I like how you can finally switch sides in this game as I think it should have been a option from the beginning since playing a Darkside Jedi who still served the Republic was fun, but the option of joining the Empire would have been much better.
    Hell the fact Scourge talks about you killing the Emperor and taking the throne while he places a crown on your head should have been a option considering he's always trying to change your thinking during your talks and unlike Praven never accepts the light.
    It's clear that it's something they wanted to when you look at the end of the Eternal Throne saga where you can assume the throne or reform it into a Republic.
    It wouldn't change the Hutt Cartel or Revan stories since you'd just play them for the opposite side that you normally would if you hadn't switched.
    So I don't see why not adding the option to become a Sith/Jedi can't be added.

    If you ask me, it seems *_most_* appropriate for the Imperial Agent (Cipher Nine) to be the saboteur against the Sith Empire, especially if you chose certain Light Side options during their class story. And I just don't have it in me for my Sith Warrior/Inquisitor characters to ever betray the Empire; especially not when Acina lent aid during the KOTFE/KOTET chapters.
    I mean, you don't _have to_ betray the Empire to ensure the Republic & the Jedi aren't annihilated. That's why I like the one Light Side response you can give before the fight against Gnost Dural. They'd lose the war, but many remaining would live to see it.

      Yeah, I made all my pubbies loyalists, and imps saboteurs in this expansion, because the empire just seems so ruthless, destructive, aggressive, and evil, not even caring about civillian casualties, and wanting to take everything for themselves.
      They talk about destroying, and murdering jedi CONSTANTLY, while as a pubby, you save, help, and protect them so it's kinda hard to side with, and sympathize with the imps to me sadly, considering that the jedi are the victims, and the empire are the aggressors this entire war.

Then the former chancellor wants you dead. The empire saved your life on Voss, and supported you ,neverminds their own costs. And after that on Iocath the republic has the nerve to ask us to betray Acina because of the good old times. Even my republic Charackters sides with the empire(It´s a question of honor.). And then my trooper thinks, that the republic ist really corrupted and degenerated, while the empire DOES at least anything against galactic menaces.

    As BH the only faction I feel any sort of loyalties towards are the Mandalorians.
    The Republic and Empire both are incredibly flawed.
    The Republic is rotten to the core with corruption, crime and incompetence.
    Not helped by constant political red tape that hampers its effort or to cower up its own mistakes.
    The Jedi are the most competent members, but they are like duck tape holding the entire Republic together.
    The Empire has a more competent government but its resources and troops are constantly wasted by pointless power struggles between Sith.
    The Sith power struggles and petty attitude have crippled the Empire. Killing civilians, troopers or even competent commanders for their own amusement or for minor failures which in turn leads to defeat. We see this in the first flashpoint (the talon if I remember correctly) and with the Major and Darth Malora. It is also the Sith obsession with blood purity that have hindered the Empire from taking in other allies. This is why so many people liked darth malgus originally since he was not like those Sith.
    So it is either a faction with an incompetent government but competent force user leaders.
    Or an competent government but incompetent force user leaders

      They probably do, but seeing how treachery and backstabbing is a big part of the Sith MO, the list of suspects is probably pretty long. Also the way Malgus broke his leash there at the end, he'd probably make a good scapegoat for any irregularities that turn up.

    • @TheGeoCheese
      @TheGeoCheese 5 лет назад

      Insignificant Gnat not necessarily. Malgus suffered injuries to the point he had to be hospitalized and I don’t think they were referring to Malgus at the end. While Malgus was let into the plan, he didn’t have much of a choice. The Alliance though did have the choice of participating or not. Not a good sign when an emperor/empress and at least one other suspect sabotage with no one trying to stab each other in the back. What’s her name clearly suspects the Alliance Commander which means she’s no longer fooled.
      At this point she can very well believe that the Alliance Commander was behind the “failure” for two reasons; the first being she in fact came up with the plan and it shouldn’t have failed as badly as it did, and if you gave the most awkward of speeches to the troops. Also, putting some behind the scenes speculation, it seems the Dark Council want to work together so getting away with this kind of sabotage isn’t easy.

    you didn't show what I wanted to confirm, do you know that if you are a saboteur helping the Republic and told Theron that before the start of onslaught does he complain about actions you took when you meet up with him and Lana at fleet. I ask because I think I chose saboteur for every option I could, but he complained about lives lost. What can I say, the first time he turned on me really upset me.

    • @roflamo0yousuck
      @roflamo0yousuck 5 лет назад +1

      The reason theron complained after correllia is because you did not pick the lightside option for the sith meeting before correlia, saying that them taking lives purely as a diversionary tactic is fucking horrible. Do that, then krovos decides to take down buildings in correllia instead of civillains for more long term benefit for the empire.
      Basically do not pick saboteur during the meeting if you want theron to be happy after corellia, many players did this, and it's easy to get tricked, and misdirected on it does literally nothing, and doesn't change anything at all unlike the lightside option. It's the one time the saboteur option doesn't help at all.
      If you choose the lightside option, and you actually did speak out against them killing tons of civilians, he says something different, the hint about what you should have done is in his rant, when he mentioned that you did not do anything to stop the empire from massacring all those civillians in corellia . It tripped lots of people up, and confused quite a few of them before they realized what happened. ruclips.net/video/GDB8SxEZeB0/видео.html, skip to 30:40 to see what happens after you picked the lightside option before corellia.

    • @furryfloofer8742
      @furryfloofer8742 5 лет назад +1

      @@xLetalis Yeah, what my other account was saying all these times was to not pick the neutral option, instead pick the lightside option before corellia if you want theron to be happy, and not be justifiably angry that you never spoke out against the murder of civillains in corellia, thus making you complicit in all those murders, that applies to both the saboteur, AND LOYALIST.
      The thing is, the neutral option was literally labelled saboteur(would have been labelled loyalist if you were not saboteur), so players naturally picked it, thinking it would damage in empire, and help the republic in some way, told him to not pick it.
      BTW, thanks for approving my comments, deleted my other posts that i made after realizing only one got through. The part that changes if you are a saboteur compared to loyalist is what lana/theron says after theron gives a chance on the empire if he's happy.

      I guess you can deal more potential damage to the faction if you work in the inside, know their plans because they trust you so much, and screw up their plans, much easier to find information, and find out what they are doing directly to fuck them up later than to be considered an enemy by them by fighting against them, also more potential opportunities to fuck over the faction for the same reason, jonas did say you did too much damage on the inside as a saboteur to pass up when you ask about the opportunity fighting for the republic directly. You are more useful working for the enemies and fucking them over from the inside than to be an ally openly.
      It actually does seem like you actually do have a much easier time performing what is being asked for you next expansion as a saboteur, when they trust you easily than fighting against them directly considering what you are going to do with the jedi, with the darth/jedi saying as much when they tell you what they want you to do, which is good to see.
